Abstract Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) is a disease caused by dengue virus and transmitted by Aedes aegypti mosquito as the main vector and Aedes albopictus as secondary vector. In 2016, Bengkulu City was one of 3 cities that experiencing DHF outbreaks in Indonesia. Insecticides malathion have been used since 1990 in bulk in DHF control programs in Bengkulu City and have not had an evaluation report on Aedes sp. vulnerability to malathion. The purpose of this research was to know the resistance status of Ae albopictus mosquitoes from endemic and sporadic areas of DHF in Bengkulu City to malathion. The sample of the study was the Ae. albopictus adult female mosquitoes which collected from endemic and sporadic areas of DHF in Bengkulu City with ovitrap installation. The resistance test was performed by CDC Bottle Bioassay method with malation 96% and 50 μg/ml diagnostic dose of. The results of this study showed 1% mortality on endemic area and 5% on sporadic area. Aedes albopictus of both areas were resistant to malathion.   Keywords: Ae. albopictus, bottle bioassay, malathion. Abstract Commercial insecticides in Asia are used to control insects including mosquitoes, which are about 28-89% in endemic areas of Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF). West Sulawesi Province is one of the dengue endemic areas in Indonesia. The study is a part of multicenter research “Map of Aedes aegypti Mosquito susceptibility Against Insecticides in Indonesia in 2015”. This study aims to the describe the use of commercial insecticides in three endemic districts of West Sulawesi using a cross-sectional design. Data obtained through interviews and observations conducted in July-August 2015 at least 100 homes which were randomly selected in each RW/RT. Data were analyzed descriptively to describe the use of insecticides, types of formulations, types of active ingredients, and the duration of use. The study found that 85% of respondents used commercial insecticides. Most of the respondents chose to use mosquitoes coil (83.5%), the most active ingredients found were D-allethrin (43.8%) and Dimefluthrin (30.4). Most respondents (45.8%) have been using commercial insecticides for more than five years and more dominant to apply at night (79.1%). The government needs to control the use of insecticides in the community so that there is no DHF vector resistance to insecticides used in DHF control programs.

Kata Kunci : Demam Berdarah, Maya Index, pelatihan, pengendalian vektor   ABSTRACT Background: Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) caused by Dengue virus could cause death. The most appropriate prevention of Dengue is eradication of mosquito nests (PSN). This study aims to determine the effect of Dengue vector control training on elementary students towards Maya Index in Majalengka. Method: This study used quasi-experimental design (pretest-posttest control group design). A total of 4 schools were selected as intervention groups and 4 other schools as controls. The subjects were students in grades IV-VI consisting of 171 students in the intervention group and 163 in the control group. The instrument used was periodic larva monitoring form. Results: The number of houses with a high Maya Index category in the intervention group decreased from 27.5% to 9.4%. There was a decrease in the high BRI category in the intervention group from 20.5% to 1.8%. In the control group, there was no decrease in the high BRI category (22.1%), on the contrary, there was a decrease in the low category from 34.4% to 3.7%. There was no decrease in HRI rates both of intervention or control groups. Conclusion: Dengue Fever vector control training could decrease the value of BRI and Maya Index, but does not affect the value of HRI. The absence of changes in HRI  indicate that environmental hygiene and sanitation are factors that influence the probability of dengue fever occurrence. Keywords: Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever, Maya Index, training, vector control

ABSTRACT Dengue hemorrhagic fever is a global health problem and can be transmitted through vectors, namely Aedes aegypti. One of the controls can be through lethal ovitrap combined with attractant. This study aims to compare the percentage of trapped eggs, the number of eggs hatched, and larval mortality in the lethal ovitrap that were given two additional types of attractants. The insecticides used were temephos, while the attractants used were 20% straw soaking water, and water that Ae. aegypti have used to lay eggs. The type of research is an experiment with a completely randomized design. The sample used was female mosquito of Ae. aegypti that is full of blood from laboratory colonization. The results showed that straw soaking water was more influential attractant than the former Ae. aegypti colonization water in attracting Ae. aegypti mosquitoes to lay eggs. The highest larval mortality was found in a combination of lethal ovitrap with straw soaking water. Statistically there is an influence of the type of attractant on hatchability and the development of Ae. aegypti into adult mosquitoes. The combination of lethal ovitrap and attractant of straw soaking water can be an alternative control strategy for DHF program managers to reduce the density of Ae. aegypti mosquitoes and minimize transmission of dengue hemorrhagic fever in an area. Keywords: Aedes aegypti, attractant, lethal ovitrap, straw soaking water   ABSTRAK Demam berdarah dengue merupakan masalah kesehatan global dan dapat ditularkan melalui vektor yaitu Aedes aegypti. Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) is transmitted by Aedes aegypti and Ae. albopictus. Aedes aegypti chooses to live indoors and Ae. albopictus in outdoors. Aedes aegypti has been proven to play a role in dengue transmission in urban areas. It is assumed that suburbs dominated by gardens, so it is possible that Ae. albopictus acts as a vector. The study aimed to analyze the relationship between Ae. albopictus and DHF incidence in suburban area. The study was conducted in Godean, Sleman Regency. 280 ovitrap were placed indoors and outdoors at across seven villages. Each village was represented by one hamlet, so there were 40 ovitrap of each hamlet. The proportion of ovitrap containing Ae. aegypti and Ae. albopictus larvae was calculated. The results showed that Ae. aegypti larvae was more indoors (78.50%) than outdoors (21.45%) in all villages and negatively correlates with DHF (p=0.036; r=-0.776). Aedes albopictus larvae is more commonly found in gardens (80.64%) than in homes (19.36%) and does not correlate with DHF (p = 0.702). It was concluded that in suburban endemic area of Sleman Regency, Ae. aegypti larvae was more indoors and negatively correlated with DHF. Aedes albopictus larva was more in the garden and did not correlate with DHF incidence.
