AbstrakLulusan merupakan hasil dari proses pendidikan. Setiap program pendidikan, termasuk di Fakultas Ilmu Keperawatan UI harus dapat menghasilkan lulusan yang bermutu yang sesuai dengan perkembangan ilmu dan tekhnologi dan kebutuhan masyarakat. Salah satu upaya yang dilakukan untuk meningkatkan kualitas lulusan melalui peningkatan kualitas metode pembelajaran. Penggunaan metoda pembelajaran CL dan PBL yang mulai diterapkan sejak tahun 2002 dinilai dapat meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis dan kemampuan pemecahan masalah pada peserta didik. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan antara penerapan metoda pembelajaran CL dan PBL terhadap motivasi peserta didik di Fakultas Ilmu Keperawatan Universitas Indonesia. Metodologi yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah deskriptif korelasi. Sampel penelitian adalah sebanyak 143 peserta didik reguler angkatan 2002 dan 2003. Analisa data dengan menggunakan uji chi-square. Hasil penelitian ini menyimpulkan ada hubungan yang bermakna antara penerapan metode pembelajaran CL dan PBL dengan motivasi belajar mahasiswa keperawatan UI (p < 0,05). AbstractGraduate is a result of a learning process. Each learning program, included in Faculty of Nursing University of Indonesia, must produce qualified graduate in time with knowledge and technology development. A qualified graduate can be achieved by many strategies. One of these strategies that has been suggested is an improvement of teaching and learning methods. Collaborative Learning (CL) and Problem Based-Learning (PBL) are known as good methods to increase critical thinking and problem solving competency of the graduate. The research purpose is to explore the correlation between nursing students’ motivation and application of CL and PBL methods in Faculty of Nursing-University of Indonesia. This research design is a descriptive correlation. The samples are 143 students from regular program, who were enrolled in 2002 and 2003 academic year. Data were analyzed using chi-square test. The result of the study conclude that there are a significant correlation between CL and PBL application and nursing student’motivation in Faculty of Nursing-University of Indonesia (p < 0,05).

Introduction: Pharmacology is one of the basic science subjects included in graduate nursing programs (B. Sc Nursing and Bachelor of Science in Nursing) under Tribhuvan University. Both these programs are being run at our institute. This article describes the evaluation of pharmacology course and teaching methodology at our institute by B. Sc Nursing (B. Sc) and Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BNS) students and also compares students’ views between these two nursing programs to facilitate pedagogical learning. Methods: At the end of the course of 2071-2072 BS academic year of first year nursing students of B. Sc and BNS programs, a structured teaching evaluation questionnaire was designed to obtain students’ view on pharmacology curriculum and lectures. Yates corrected Chi square test was applied whenever necessary and p value considered significant at less than or equal to 0.05.Results: Only 37% B. Sc and 60% BNS students responded that the lecture content was in accordance with the curriculum. Only 52% BNS and 97% B. Sc students found the course content to be relevant and useful. 68% BNS students responded that they have felt a lot improvement in their understanding of pharmacology subject as compared to just 23% of B. Sc students. Majority of the students preferred the LCD mode of presentation.Conclusion: There were minor differences found between opinions of two sets of students. Major need for improvement areas suggested in curriculum were course content not being clear and the objectives being ill defined. Similarly, in relation to facilitator, they have recommended to improve voice clarity.

Background: It is generally accepted that due to various reasons, the age of drug abuse prevalence continues to decline, which imposes numerous personal and social dysfunctions. Objectives: This study aimed to assess the prevalence of drug abuse among adolescents in Kerman, Iran. Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted on 2,000 10th - 12th-grade students in the academic year of 2017 - 2018 selected by random cluster sampling. Data collection tools included demographic characteristics checklist and alcohol smoking and substance involvement screening test (ASSIST). Data were analyzed using chi-square test. Results: The results showed that the highest prevalence of substance abuse among students was related to tobacco, alcohol, and sedatives. It was also demonstrated that the use of cigarettes, sedatives, cannabis, and amphetamine was significantly higher among male subjects compared to female participants (P < 0.05). Moreover, 16.4, 12.9, and 5.1% of the tobacco, alcohol, and sedative users required low interventions, respectively, whereas 1.5, 0.8, and 0.4% of them required high interventions, respectively. Conclusion: According to the results of the study, there was higher drug abuse prevalence in male students compared to female students. As such, it seems that consumption of alcohol, tobacco, and narcotics in adolescents requires serious intervention.

This study investigated on classroom attentiveness of children from home with inter parental violence in Chamwino, Dodoma, Tanzania. The study employed the cross-sectional survey design whereby 312 out of 652 children from five secondary schools were randomly selected to participate by filling the questionnaire. Chi square test was employed to determine the relationship between violence against mothers and children’s attentiveness at the 0.05 level of significance. The results indicated a significant relationship between parental conflicts and lack of pupils’ adequate concentration in learning. The findings further showed that female children whose mothers are accustomed to violence are more inattentive than male children during the teaching and learning processes. The study recommends that effective intervention strategies such as developing training through psycho education within families, schools and the community be in place.

Objective: In different parts of the world, Indonesia included, overweight and obese people are seen to have worse performance compared to their healthy counterparts. Although there were research that had been done to observe the relationship between overweight, obesity, and academic performance, the results obtained were still divided into significantly and non-significantly related.Methods: A cross-sectional study was done to 373 students from two different schools in South Jakarta on December 2017–January 2018. Data was obtained by measuring height and weight of the participant to get his/her nutritional status and the average of participant’s odd semester Continual Assessment and Semestral Assessment of Academic Year 2017/2018 to see if the result was higher or equal to the passing grade.Results: Data analysis with chi square test shows that there was no significant relationship between overweight, obesity, and academic performance (p = 0.452 for Indonesian Language and p = 0.476 for Mathematics) although overweight and obese students tend to have better performance in some exam.Conclusion: The events that lead to overweight, obesity, and one’s academic performance are all multifactorial that the relationship between the two is difficult to be determined.

ABSTRACT Objective: To compare stress levels in freshman and senior nursing students. Method: A cross-sectional study was carried out in a public federal university of the state of Bahia, with students who answered questionnaires about sociodemographic variables, academic life, and a scale for assessing stress in nursing students. Chi-square and Fisher’s exact tests were applied to analyze the relationship between variables. To assess proportional trends between ordinal variables and groups, a chi-square test for linear trend was applied. The significance level was 5%. Results: One hundred and fifty-four students participated in the study. There was a tendency to higher stress levels among students in the last year compared to those in the first year, in four out of six domains: Performance of Practical Activities (p=0.00), Professional Communication (p=0.00), Environment (p=0.00) and Professional Education (p=0.00). Conclusion: High levels of stress were observed in students taking the last year. There is a need for broader research that includes other years of the course, an institutional reflection on stress factors and the adoption of an institutional policy that favors a better confrontation of stress factors.

Aim: It was aimed to reveal the perspectives and satisfaction levels of 4th and 5th grade-clinical students who go on practice education at Tokat Gaziosmanpaşa University Faculty of Dentistry in the 2020-2021 Academic Year. Methods: Within the scope of the study, 146 students in total, who did their face-to-face internship between October 5 and December 11, 2020, were asked to participate in an online survey with 10 questions. Clinical students were asked about their perspective on Covid-19 infection, whether they felt safe in their dental practice, their families' level of anxiety about their internship, and whether they voluntarily chose dentistry. Results: According to the survey results; 15.1% of the students agree (TA), 27.4% agree (A), 37% partially agree (PA), 13% disagree (D) with the statement “I am pleased to have internships since the beginning of the term” 7.5% of them answered, “Strongly disagree” (SD). Pearson’s chi-square test was used in the statistical analysis of the answers given by 4th and 5th-grade students to the first 9 questions of the questionnaire consisting of the same questions. According to the survey results, it was also observed that most students chose the dentistry profession of their own will (TA 39%, A 36.3%, PA 13.7%). The number of students who think they feel safe in terms of infection control during their internship is 60% in total (TA 5.5%, A 17.1%, PA 37.7%). Conclusion: Despite the increasing number of cases until today, it is thought that the process has been successfully managed and that the students have gained experience in practical training, albeit limited.

This study explores the situation of basic level community school boy and girl students’ science and health learning through collaborative culture. Fifth, sixth and seventh-grade students (both boys and girls) took part in this study. As per the aim of this study, a set of questionnaire was developed and administered to the sampled students. Two hundred and fifty-eight students were selected from the sampled school using the census sampling technique. All the students were involved in collaborative learning activities such as building trust and open communication, establishing group interaction, respect diversity and sharing creative ideas based on the basic level science and health curriculum aiming at promoting inquiry learning through collaboration. A quantitative analysis involving the use of the Chi-square test at 0.05 level of significance, Likelihood ratio and Somer’s symmetric was conducted to see the association between the variables. The results showed that science and health collaborative learning activities by gender were not associated significantly. There was no statistically significant difference (α=0.05) between the variables studied. The findings showed a weak association with gender and collaborative science and health learning activities in the classrooms.

Introduction. Improving the quality of education makes a shift in educational paradigm in Indonesia. Conventional teacher-centered curricula is changing to competency-based curricula (CBC) with focus on student-centered learning. The purpose of this study was to identify relationship between the implementation of Problem-Based Learning (PBL) method in CBC with students’ soft skills. Method. The study design was cross sectional correlation with 97 respondents as the sample. Analysis of the data using univariate and bivariate analysis with the test used was the chi square test. Results. The results of the study showed that there was no relationship in the implementation of PBL method in CBC with students’ soft skills (ρ = 0.646). Discussion. Based on the results, this study suggested to the academic head officer of PSIK UR to be able to evaluate periodically the implementation of CBC in order to achieve quality learning to produce students who can perform both hard skills and soft skills. Background: Handwashing is the act of cleaning one's hands for the purpose of removing soil, dirt & microorganisms. Through review of literature it is understood that the most nosocomial infections are thought to be transmitted by the hands of healthcare workers, handwashing is considered the single most important intervention to prevent nosocomial infections. This study is conducted to assess the knowledge, attitude and practices (KAP) on handwashing among the nursing students and to identify the areas of gap in their KAP along with the provisions for handwash.Methods: A descriptive, cross-sectional study was conducted among 192 nursing students at S.V. College of Nursing, Chittoor during October 2018 using pre-validated self-reported questionnaire. Statistical analysis was done with SPSS 20.0 software and Chi square test was used with “P” value<0.05 taken as statistically significant.Results: Among all respondents 85% were aware about washing their hands during all common critical times, but practicing was observed in 08% only. 50% felt that alcohol based hand rub is effective than hand wash with soap and water, but facilitated 10% only. While the final year students all (100%) are well aware about all critical times of handwashing, whereas 1st and 2nd years 71% and 3rd year students 87% are aware (P=0.002).Conclusions: There is a need of orientation and arrangements for proper hand wash to be improved.

Background: Education providers in many ways short of expectations. Education strategy is essential in teaching and learning activities. Student who has motivation and learning strategies tends to devote all their ability to get the optimal learning results according to the expected goals. Understanding student motivation and learning strategies will help institution to facilitate students for their study success. This study aimed of determine differences in student motivation and learning strategies at Faculty of Dentistry, University of Hasanuddin among students with collaborative learning and problem-based learning educational strategies.Method: This was quantitative research with observational analytic cross-sectional study design. The subjects were all students of class 2007 and 2008 data were collected using Motivated Strategies for Learning Questionnaire (MSLQ). Descriptive analysis and Mann-Whitney test were used to analysis the data.Results: The subjects consisted of 84 students of class 2007 and 79 students of class 2008. The mean score of learning motivation and learning strategy were higher among students with PBL than students with collaborative learning. There we are significant differences in learning strategies with different education strategies except in organization (p=0,369) and anxiety (p=0.058).Conclusion: There are differences in the learning motivation and learning strategies in students with collaborative learning and problem based learning education strategies, except in organization and anxiety component. Learning motivation and learning strategies in problem based learning students are higher than collaborative learning students.
