This article analyzes whether the process of recognition, validation and certification of competences (RVCC) can be a part of an attempt for an adult to converge his education level to the spouse’s. Taking as a starting point the theoretical framework on the spouse choice and homogamy, 289 questionnaires were applied to adults in the RVCC process, in Lisbon, during 2009. The school and family formation trajectories were reconstructed to analyze the global and educational distance between spouses. Data analysis showed that despite the prevalence of homogamy in the studied population, the presence of atypical cases emphasized the relevance of the study of heterogamy. When there is a difference in the educational level of the spouses, the adult in the RVCC process will approach his spouse. In the homogamic couples, the RVCC process brings out the schooling of the female population, the so called educational hypogamy.

This article presents a study that applies integrated and multi-factor path analysis to report the direct and indirect effects of young Brazilian individual and home factors on their online opportunities and risks. The results show that engaging in more online opportunities, being older and having a lower level of parental mediation are associated with a higher number of online risks. At the same time, being older, having Internet access at home, having parents with a higher educational level, possessing more digital skills and receiving a higher level of co-use and active parental mediation are positively associated with online opportunities. Although restrictive parental mediation is negatively associated with online risks, it also reduces opportunities. In addition, co-use and active mediation are positively associated with parental educational level. These findings offer a starting point to understand children’s online behaviour and digital inclusion in Latin America and analyse its differences with other regions.

The aim of this work is to deepen in the history of the Spanish structures{tener/llevar} + participle, taking into account the language of the 16th and 17th centuries and offering certain comparisons with other Romance languages, specially Asturian. The starting point lies in the idea that the problems that create these constructions are essentially due to the dual nature of the participle (between a verb and an adjective), which can be only understood into a continuum, whose ends are the pure adjective and the pure verb. For that, we will start setting our concept of participial periphrases in the theoretical framework, as well as its applicationto the Spanish language spoken in the Golden Age. Then, we analyze how these structures work in that Spanish, using a corpus formed by three discourse genres (picaresque novels, letters and chronicles of the Indies), whose texts were written between 1519 and 1656. Finally, all of which allows to conclude that the discourse genres do not affect the appearance of the constructions of participle in the same extent that it may affect other grammatical phenomena, such as personal pronouns.

The Bioconductor Gateway on the F1000Research platform is a channel for peer-reviewed and citable publication of end-to-end data analysis workflows rooted in the Bioconductor ecosystem. In addition to the largely static journal publication, it is hoped that authors will also deposit their workflows as executable documents on Bioconductor, where the benefits of regular code testing and easy updating can be realized. Ideally these two endpoints would be met from a single source document. However, so far this has not been easy, due to lack of a technical solution that meets both the requirements of the F1000Research article submission format and the executable documents on Bioconductor. Submission to the platform requires a LaTeX file, which many authors traditionally have produced by writing an Rnw document for Sweave or knitr. On the other hand, to produce the HTML rendering of the document hosted by Bioconductor, the most straightforward starting point is the R Markdown format. Tools such as pandoc enable conversion between many formats, but typically a high degree of manual intervention used to be required to satisfactorily handle aspects such as floating figures, cross-references, literature references, and author affiliations. The BiocWorkflowTools package aims to solve this problem by enabling authors to work with R Markdown right up until the moment they wish to submit to the platform.

The problem in this study relates to the narration of women as victims in the patriarchal space. The aim of the study was to reveal the narration of women, the position of female subjects, and the discourse embedded in the short stories. To achieve the goal, this research was conducted in several stages, such as choosing object of research and the theoretical framework, collecting data, analysis, and conclusions. The object of this study consist of six short stories by Djenar Maesa Ayu, including "Mereka Bilang, Saya Monyet! "Lintah", "Durian", "Melukis Jendela", "Wong Asu", and "Namanya ....". Data is collected through in-depth reading and quoting words, phrases, sentences, paragraphs, and dialogues which are then described analytically. The data is then analyzed by interpreting all linguistic tools and connecting them with the postfeminism perspective. The results showed that women were narrated as if they were objects in the space of patriarchal domination, but instead they became a central subject who carried out resistance to patriarchal discourse by giving calls in the form of names of animal heads according to the nature and behavior of men, including Si Kepala Gajah, Si Kepala Sapi, dan Si Kepala Anjing. Other resistance carried out by women, through slashing the cheek and cutting penis, the symbol of man’s power. The narration in the short story of Djenar Maesa Ayu's works shows satire that men is not smarter than women whose called monkeys by them.)

Immigrant women constitute a relatively large sector of Canadian society. In 2011, immigrant women made up a fifth of Canada's female population, the highest proportion in 100 years; based on the current trends of immigration, this proportion is expected to grow over the next 20 years. As women immigrate and find themselves simultaneously experiencing an unfamiliar environment, being unacquainted with societal norms, and lacking vital social networks, they become vulnerable to mental health problems. This article aims to undertake a narrative review of the literature on immigrant women's mental health in Canada during antenatal and postpartum care by employing the transnational theory as a theoretical framework. The article starts with an overview of the theoretical framework, followed by a discussion on a literature review that particularly talks about culture, isolation and social support network, social determinants of health, and access to health care as elements to consider in avoiding mental health problem among immigrant women in antenatal and postpartum care. The literature shows a high number of depression among immigrant women, and mental health problems are higher among visible minorities than Caucasians. The highest antenatal and postpartum depression recorded are 42% and 13%, respectively. As Canada has long been and continues to be the land of immigrants, addressing the multiple factors affecting immigrant women's mental health is paramount to Canada truly achieving “health for all.”

The contemporary hybridism has led new generations to a connected-based society in which relations among individuals are even more mediated by the arising Information and Communication Technologies (ICT). Some aspects of these mediations need to be deeply understood since new and different usages, habits, and practices with media are being observed among those born since the nineties – the digital natives. Aiming to investigate this context, a study was carried out to better understand how children and teenagers interact with four screens: computers, TV, games, and mobile phones. From a quantitative methodological approach, data was collected using a survey applied in Brazilian schools. A theoretical framework on digital literacy concepts was used as base for two-layer of data analysis on these four media, and the results were organized in five topics that show the main outcomes. They can be the basis of further educational policies grounded in real diagnosis.
