It is alleged that Capiz has evolved to be the subject of many aswangs and other mythological ghosts, goblins, ghouls, manananggal and other monster stories. As views, opinions, and questions are ignored or receive a poor treatment – varying beliefs about the aswang phenomenon in Capiz will just lead to rising ignorance, persistent stereotyping, and deeper confusion that may continue to afflict Capiz and dehumanize Capisnon undeservedly. Hence, this study was conducted to probe the perception of Capisnon to the said phenomenon; elicit change in their conceptual, personal/social behaviors and dispositions vis-à-vis their practice of the Catholic faith. The research employed a descriptive qualitative design using a researcher-made questionnaire to a stratified sample of respondents.  Also, a Focus Group Discussion with non-probable sample from Dumarao’s Tag-aw Ati Minority and the Guban-Tapaz Tribe Panayanon Bukidnon was conducted to enrich the data and inferences of the study. Results acknowledged that the past colonial masters are the reasons for wrongly imputing the word aswang to Capiz and Capisnon and the contemporary detractors who take Capiz Aswang Phenomenon or C.A.P. out of their proper historical and cultural contexts. With or without the presence of C.A.P., the ideal circumstances in upholding the real identity and self-worth of Capisnon are: a well-informed insight about the phenomenon, a conscious discernment of its history and real meaning, and a growing diligence in character to be good and to do good in the community.

The Covid-19 pandemic has caused the learning process to shift from face-to-face to virtual. This research aimed to produce android-based local wisdom digital teaching materials for grade V of valid and practical elementary schools. This research was a research development (R&D) with ADDIE model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation). The subject of this research was android-based digital teaching materials with local wisdom. In contrast, the research object was the validity and practicality of android-based digital teaching materials with local wisdom. The data in this study were classified into two qualitative and quantitative data. Data collection techniques were using questionnaire techniques. The questionnaires are used to measure the validity and practicality of digital teaching materials. The validity was tested by two experts, namely material experts and media experts. The practicality of digital teaching materials was assessed by five teachers and ten grade V elementary school students in the Letda Kajeng Cluster. The data collected was then analyzed descriptively quantitatively. The results of this study indicate that (1) the validity of android-based digital teaching materials with local wisdom obtained an average of 3,64 or is in the interval of 3,50 ≤ Rv ≤ 4,00 with the criteria "very valid"; (2) the practicality of digital teaching materials with local wisdom based on the teacher's and student assessment obtained an average of 3,67 which is in the interval of 3,50 ≤ Rk ≤ 4,00 with the category "very practical". Based on the study results, it was concluded that this development research produced Android-based digital teaching materials with local wisdom on Panas dan Perpindahannya topics for grade V elementary school, which were very valid and very practical.

The ArgumentThe argument developed herein, a countertheme to the Merton thesis, is that the ideal of science pursued by Galileo and his contemporaries in Italy would be unaffected by their Catholic faith if it could achieve apodictic proof in the subject of its investigations, in which case it would attain truth – the very goal sought by that faith. Unfortunately such proof was hard to come by in early seventeenth-century mechanics. A case study is proposed to show Galileo's difficulty demonstrating the tensile strength of columns in mathematical physics on the basis of improper suppositions, contrasting these with the suppositions of a contemporary, Giovanni de Guevara. The case study casts new light on the subject of Galileo's atomism and its relation to the Eucharist, refuting Redondi's claim that this was the real motive behind Galileo's trial in 1633. A further lesson relating to the Merton thesis can also be drawn, namely, that while challenges to science from religious orthodoxy may appear as temporary obstacles, in the long run they are an aid to science in its efforts to bring mankind closer to the truth.

Our world is undergoing constant transformation, and it requires an education system that can adapt to meet changing needs. Our need to sustain a more fully human life and to engage in solidarity means that we must appeal to new generations using 21st century digital competences. This is a theoretical and practical study of empowering education about sustainable development. Thanks to the application of new technologies, the study was able to highlight some proposals for improving education in this regard. METHOD. First, a critical literature review was conducted of publications related to the topics of the paper. Then, a qualitative study on technology and education was conducted with 20 secondary school students and forty eight teachers, and the results were compared with those of prior research. For the purposes of the study, interview and group discussion techniques were used, and the data collected were analysed using the program Atlas.ti7. RESULTS. The observed results contrast with the ideal of “School 2.0”. Teachers engage in preventive activities due to the immaturity of the students, representing a significant type of control that both parties deem necessary, a lack of training on the part of teachers and an instrumental use of ICT. DISCUSSION. The normalisation of appropriate use of ICT and a constant process of technological and pedagogical training for teachers could help contribute to empowering students. CONCLUSION. Several suggestions are made as to how to use ICT to educate students to be aware of their roles in creating a sustainable society.

The present study documented the early and current state of the Naga river by categorizing it in four decades of development. The timeline helped the respondents visualize the ideal state of the river which for them is worth conserving for the future generations. The study also identified the perceptions and experiences of the riverside households on the stresses and shocks, fears and anxiety, and benefits derived. The identification of environmental stresses and shocks constructed a reality map or a perception of environmental reality based on their experiences. Focus Group Discussion was conducted with 79 respondents in 5 of the 11 riverside barangays. These represented the upstream ,midstream, and downstream barangays. Key Informant Interview was done with 19 key people of the study. Results of the FGD show that flood brought about by the typhoons and the heavy rains are their biggest shocks and stresses. As to fears and anxiety, the fear of floods had the highest and the least was the loss of a religious tradition. This concurs on the findings that floods are the primary environmental shock as perceived by the respondents. The identification of benefits determined the reasons on what holds the community to the river despite the threats. Topmost among the benefits was the river as source of livelihood and the least benefit was for recreation. KEYWORDS: Naga River, environmental reality, environmental stresses and shocks, fears and anxiety of the river, benefits of riverside households

For abstract concepts to be well understood, students need to be familiar with the concepts and able to associate them correctly. Students cannot make scientific explanations on the subject unless they can establish relationships. This study aimed to determine the understanding level of 11th-grade high school students on “gases” in terms of chemical variables and any alternative frameworks on the subject of gases. A methodology, including both qualitative and quantitative design, was used for this investigation. Open-ended questions and group discussion methods were used for data collection. The questions were applied to 87 11th-grade students from three public schools. Group discussions were conducted with nine students. The students’ understanding level of gases was statistically presented based on the predetermined categories. Besides, alternative frameworks on gases were described with direct excerpts taken from the students’ statements. According to the results of the study, it was concluded that the students’ understanding level of gases was low. In addition, it was observed that students were often inadequate in explaining gas-related events and that there were numerous unscientific errors in their explanations. Active learning methods should be designed to minimize the alternative conceptions of high school students on gases and focus on the conceptual and scientific understanding of students.
