Aims: Introducing and comparing 4 different tests for the unknown umbrella alternative in a mixed design. Study Design: Simulation study consisting of a randomized complete block portion and a completely randomized design portion for various underlying distributions. Place and Duration of Study: Simulation Study – conducted at North Dakota State University from September 2018 through December 2019. Methodology: This paper proposes four non-parametric tests for testing the umbrella alternative with unknown peak when the data are mixture of a randomized complete block and a completely randomized design. The proposed tests are various combinations of a modified (unmodified) Mack-Wolfe’s test and a modified (unmodified) Kim-Kim’s test, respectively. In this paper, the proposed tests are an extension of Magel et al. (2010) and Hassan and Magel (2020) peak known tests to the unknown peak setting. The four proposed test statistics are compared to each other. Results: When there were 3 populations, the unmodified versions of the test statistics did better than the modified versions.  When there were 4 and 5 populations, the results varied. Conclusion: All of the test statistics reached their asymptotic distributions quickly.  The standardize first versions of the test statistics were generally better than the standardized last version of the test statistics, which meant that it was better to place equal weights on the RCBD portion and the CRD portion.

Sugarcane (Saccharum spp. hybrids) is moderately sensitive to salinity and the effects on plant performance vary according to stress level and genotype. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of salt stress induced by application of different NaCl levels in the irrigation solution on plant height, indirect index of chlorophylls (SPAD), and macronutrients concentration (N, P, K, Ca, Mg and S) and Na in leaves of two sugarcane varieties: CP 72-2086 and Mex 69-290. The experiment was set in a completely randomized design with a 2×5 factorial arrangement. The study factors were sugarcane variety (CP 72-2086 and Mex 69-290) and NaCl concentration (0.0, 71.8, 143.6, 215.4 and  282.7 mM NaCl). Salinity as a single factor negatively affected plant height, SPAD units and N and P concentration in leaves; Ca concentrations increased, while K, Mg and S remained unaffected by the tested NaCl levels. Mex 69-290 grew higher and concentrated greater levels of N and K. Interactions of factors showed that salinity reduced growth in both varieties, but this reduction was more pronounced in CP 72-2086. SPAD units were also significantly reduced by salinity in both varieties. Concentrations of N and P in leaves decreased in both varieties in response to NaCl, while those of K and Ca increased in Mex 69-290. Concentration of Na was higher in Mex 69-290 which exhibited better performance than CP 72-2086. Sodium concentrations in leaves increased in direct relation to the tested NaCl concentrations. Mex 69-290 reached higher concentrations of Na in leave tissues but displayed better health than CP 72-2086. Thus, the variety Mex 69-290 showed more efficient Na-tolerance mechanisms related to Ca and K concentrations, and an indirect chlorophyll index better than CP 72-2086.

Title (Bahasa Indonesia): Uji fisik pakan lobster air tawar, Cherax quadricarinatus, yang menggunakan beberapa bahan perekat The objective of this study was to evaluate the physical parameters of feed for freshwater crayfish (Cherax quadricarinatus) using different glutens. This study used a completely randomized design with four treatments and three replications. Treatment A was feed with starch gluten, treatment B was feed with sago gluten, treatment C was feed with seaweed gluten and treatment D was a commercial feed (control). ANOVA showed that the treatments gave a significant effect (P <0.05) on the breaking rate in the water, sinking speed, homogeneity, and hardness. The results showed that feed using seaweed gluten is very good to use. Feed with starch gluten was also better than feed of sago gluten. However, for sinking speed, control diet and starch gluten-based feed were faster than that of seaweed gluten. The result for water quality analysis including temperature, pH, DO and ammonia during the study showed tolerable ranges for freshwater crayfish.
