This phenomenological research examined the challenges, coping mechanisms, and success stories experienced by neophyte principals. Key informants were 11 neophyte principals in the Schools Division of La Union and the City of San Fernando Schools Division during SY 2020-2021. Data gathered using a semi-structured interview guide were thematically analyzed. It was revealed that the respondents' most pressing challenges were lack of resources, and difficulties in transitioning to the new school. They addressed these situations by adopting effective leadership strategies involving a mix of professional and technical skills, conceptual skills, and interpersonal skills. They succeeded in strengthening collaboration among the school stakeholders, in achieving school development and improvement goals, and in improving students' academic achievement. It was concluded that the neophyte principals develop improved leadership skills and management practices which enabled them some impressive accomplishments in their respective schools, and gained the cooperation from the teachers, parents, and other stakeholders. Based on these findings, the researcher developed a conceptual model which can be used as a guide in attaining self-efficiency in leadership and management among the neophyte principals. In addition, the researcher also crafted a two-day supportive seminar on developing proactive collaboration between the school and other stakeholders of quality education.

In this rapidly changing global environment, the need for communication skills (CS) and emotional intelligence (EI) has become important to today's leaders, in addition to knowing other technical and conceptual skills. Although many universities and management institutions around the world have studied the impact of CS and EI on organizational performance, there are still numerous gaps in the research approach, results and conclusions. Most people are confused due to complex information that lacked impeccability in past studies. This study aims to identify the significance of CS and EI that influence leaders and organizational performance and examine how the contributions, evaluations, opinions and ideas of previous researchers have been related and biased. This is an independent article based on a literature review conducted using the electronics databases such as EBSCO, DOAJ, RESEARCH LIFE, EMBASE and Google Scholar. The variables explored in the present review include effective communication skills, leadership emotional intelligence and organizational performance which are also the guiding framework of the review. The present review shows that CS and EI may be combined rather than separated to develop the potential of a leader to achieve organizational efficiency and success. Both CS and EI are the prerequisites of an effective leader to manage others and build long-term relationships. The review recommends that leaders receive the appropriate training in public speaking, negotiation, emotional management, and organizational efficiency to improve their CS and EI.

In the maritime world, several ship accidents occur due to, among others, natural conditions, technical failures, shipping lane conditions, ship-related factors, human error, and cargo-related factors. This research uses a qualitative research approach with a case study method. From the research results, the ship which weighs 1,900 tons, has dimensions of 90.70 meters x 11.12 meters x 3.4 meters, is powered by 2 diesel engines, which can propel the ship up to a speed of 18 knots and can carry cargo up to 600 tons. happened when the ship finished docking. The habit factor of the ships above, anchoring like that, of course, has a reason, the Commander should in the learning process find out to enrich knowledge through experience to find the truth of the habit because one day it becomes one of the keys to work effectiveness and benefits in taking an action. If he learns from experience, leakage can be avoided. The results of the research show that expertise and responsibility are two of the pillars of professionalism, which are relevant to the case study of the shipwreck that the researcher lifted. The results of the ship accident case study, identified that to prevent accidents, officers must have technical, interpersonal, and conceptual skills. These three factors constitute a totality. This means that all three are interrelated and all KRI officers need some mix of all three. If one of them is not perfect or does not exist, it will have implications for shipping safety.

Servant leadership has been proposed as a highly relevant approach to leadership in the higher education context. However, little is known about its contribution to desirable organizational outcomes in academic settings, and even less is known about the role that servant leadership’s multidimensionality plays. Consequently, our study aims to investigate the impact of servant leadership’s two dimensions (creating value for the community and conceptual skills) on academics’ job satisfaction and work motivation. Specifically, we focus on polytechnics due to their significant contribution to the community and industry in developing economies. We applied partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) to analyze the data collected from 228 academics affiliated with Malaysian polytechnics. Our analysis shows that both dimensions of servant leadership are relevant predictors of academics’ job satisfaction and work motivation. In addition, while a robustness check confirms the linearity between the variables in our model, the model exhibits a high out-of-sample predictive power, thereby making assumptions about the model relationships’ generalizability feasible. We also identified job satisfaction as the most important area of improvement that managerial activities should address.

Nursing is a mentally and physically demanding job and the industry is particularly strained in Japan. Assistant Professor Hiroko Kitajima, Department of Nursing, Faculty of Health, Medical and Welfare Saitama Prefectural University, Japan, believes improving nurses' time management skills would be beneficial for the work-life balance and mental health of nurses, as well as patient care. Kitajima is filling a research gap with her work as there is a lack of research on the leadership ability of work zone leaders, aka non-titled nurses that assume responsibility. She and her team have developed a scale for nurses to assess their own shift leadership behaviours and factors associated with shift leadership behaviours called the 'Nurse's Work Shift Leadership Behavior Evaluation Scale' and are verifying the reliability and validity of the scale in a project called 'Development of Nurses' Work Zone Leadership Evaluation Scale and Factors Affecting Work Zone Leadership'. Important collaborators on this research are Professor Eiko Suzuki, Assistant Professor Maki Matsuo and Assistant Professor Takae Machida. The researchers are adapting an existing scale called the Development of the Self-evaluation Scale on Role Performance of Shift Leader Nurse' that was developed by Yamashina et. al. in 2011 and are focused on reducing the number of items and using the Katz model, which outlines three key personal skill sets for successful leaders: technical skills, human skills and conceptual skills. Ultimately, Kitajima and the team are developing a programme based on empirical research that promotes the leadership of nurses in the work zone.
