Hot pressing can be considered the best extraction method for rapeseed oil from the perspective of phenolic compounds, because hot pressing produces the highest content of sinapine, and sinapine inhibits TMA production.

Arbutus unedo L., commonly known as the strawberry-tree fruit, is an endemic species of the Mediterranean flora. Microwave extraction technology has been considered as a fast and “green” method for the production of extracts rich in bioactive compounds, although the energy consumption is high. To overcome this bottleneck, microwave was used as a pretreatment procedure in short time periods. This technique promotes the burst of intracellular vacuoles leading to an increase in the lixiviation of phenolic compounds. Different approaches were tested, namely a solvent-free irradiation (SFI), a solvent-assisted irradiation (SAI) and a pressurized solvent-assisted irradiation (PSAI). After irradiation, a solid–liquid extraction procedure was performed using a mixture of water and ethanol. A kinetic evaluation of the total phenolic content (TPC) was performed using the Folin–Ciocalteu method. For the total anthocyanin content, a UV-spectrophotometric method was used. HPLC-UV and LC-MS were used for TPC and identification of present compounds. Microwave irradiation led to an increase in TPC of extracts after SAI (52%) and PSAI (66%) along with a reduction in time of extraction from 30 min to less than 2 min. The anthocyanin content also increased by 66% for the SAI and PSAI extractions.

Due to their numerous health benefits associated with various diseases and anti-oxidation properties, the phenolic compounds collectively referred to as phytochemicals have attracted a lot of interest, however, a single extraction method for polyphenols has not been developed yet. Supercritical fluid extraction, a green extraction method, provides the final product without organic solvent residues. In this work the extraction of lavender was performed using supercritical carbon dioxide. A statistical experimental design based on the Box-Behnken (B-B) method was planned, and the extraction yields and total phenolic contents were measured for three different variables: pressure, temperature and extraction time. The ranges were 200–300 bar, 40–60 °C and 15–45 min. The extracts yields from scCO2 extraction were in the range of 4.3–9.2 wt.%. The highest yield (9.2 wt.%) was achieved at a temperature of 60 °C under the pressure of 250 bar after 45 min. It also corresponded to the highest total phenolic content (10.17 mg GAE/g extract). Based on the study, the statistically generated optimal extraction conditions to obtain the highest total phenolic compounds concentration from flowers of Lavandula angustifolia were a temperature of 54.5 °C, pressure of 297.9 bar, and the time of 45 min. Based on the scavenging activity percentage (AA%) of scCO2 extracts, it is concluded that the increase of extraction pressure had a positive influence on the increase of AA% values.

We successfully used the guanidine isothiocyanate method for isolation of total RNA from leaf, stem, and root tissues of the aromatic plant Origanum onites. The RNA was extracted with TRI Reagent® at room temperature and was recovered by isopropanol precipitation. The isolated RNA was capable of reverse transcription. The extraction method described here does not require ultracentrifugation, and it is fast, simple, and effective. The procedure can be completed within 3 hours and may be applicable to other aromatic medicinal plants containing high amounts of phenolic compounds.

Evaluated with the yield of anise star oil, steam extraction method assisted by microwave is studied for the extraction of anise star oil from Illicium verum Hook. f. in contrast with the traditional steam distillation (SD) method in this paper. The new optimal steam extraction technology assisted by microwave of anise star oil is obtained as: extracting time 80 minutes, solid-liquid ratio(g/mL) 1:7, size of material 80~100 mesh and extracting temperature 80°C. Average yield of anise star oil is up to 11.6% (g/g) under the above technology. Size of material is the most important influencing factor in the extraction process. The optimal traditional steam distillation technology is: extracting time 120 minutes, solid-liquid ratio(g/mL) 1:6, size of material 80~100 mesh and extracting temperature 100°C , the average yield of anise star oil is only 9.81% (g/g). The steam extraction technology assisted by microwave has advantages in both the technological conditions and the yield of anise star oil than the traditional steam distillation technology.

The object of this research is the herb Adonis vernalis and hydroalcoholic extracts obtained on its basis. By the nature of the action, the drugs Adonis vernalis belong to the group of cardiac glycosides and occupy an intermediate place between strophanthin and digitalis. In official medicine, biologically active compounds of Adonis vernalis are included in drugs such as Cardiovalen, Adonis-bromine, Caridiolin and Cardiophyte. In the extemporal formulation, the extract is part of the Bechterew’s medicine. Until recently, scientists have made significant progress in studying the phytochemical and pharmacological action of the herb Adonis vernalis. However, one should not be limited to the use of Adonis vernalis only for stimulating cardiac activity, one should also consider the promising antioxidant effect of flavonoids and phenolic compounds that are contained in this medicinal plant. Also, studies of the extraction conditions of the herb Adonis vernalis are not described in the scientific literature. The study carried out the extraction of the grass Adonis vernalis by various methods (static and dynamic). The type of extract was chosen as the most rational, which provides the maximum yield of extractives (phenolic compounds and cardiac glycosides). For this, the optimal extraction conditions were selected, namely, the particle size, the type of extractant, the value of the hydromodule and the extraction method. Accordingly, the optimal particle diameter for maximum extraction of biologically active substances of the herb Adonis vernalis is 2.5 mm, the optimal extractant is 70 % ethyl alcohol, the ratio of raw materials: extractant is 1:10, the optimal extraction method is maceration with constant stirring. Phytochemical studies of the quantitative composition of the main groups of biologically active substances were carried out using calorimetric and spectrophotometric methods of analysis. As a result of the optimization of the process and its introduction into production on an industrial scale, the value added effect will be achieved. And also a high-quality product has been created that will compete with broad-spectrum drugs already existing on the market.

Anthraquinones are phenolic compounds known best for their laxative activity. Rheum australe D. Don (Indian rhubarb, Polygonaceae) is a prominent medicinal plant with anthraquinones as the bioactive compounds, among a few others. The online literature search was carried out to collect data on the phytochemistry and pharmacological activity of anthraquinones, particularly those isolated from R. australe. Anthraquinones are commonly found in the genera of Rheum, Senna, Aloe, Frangula, and Rubia, which can be quantitatively and qualitatively determined using both conventional and advanced analytical methods. The anthraquinones of R. australe were found in free and glycosidic forms, which were best extracted by the microwave-assisted extraction method. Various chromatographic techniques were commonly conducted to isolate the pure compounds. In addition to its laxative activity, anthraquinones of R. australe also showed potential antibacterial, cytotoxic, and antioxidant properties.

Anredera cordifolia [Ten] Steenis has been proven to have pharmacological activity that is thought to be influenced by the presence of phenolic compounds and flavonoids. However, both compounds are found in small concentrations through conventional extraction (maceration, decoction, soxhlet, and reflux). This study aims to prove that the ultrasonic assisted extraction method can obtain higher concentrations of phenolic and flavonoid compounds. Dried binahong leaves were extracted using ultrasonic assisted extraction with 70% ethanol. Phenolic levels were determined using Folin-Ciocalteu, while flavonoid levels were determined using the colorimetric aluminum method. The results showed binahong leaves ethanolic extract had phenolic levels of 10.16 % GAE and flavonoid levels of 10.58 % QE. These results are much higher than the results obtained using conventional extraction so that ultrasonic assisted extraction can be recommended to maximize the extraction of phenolic and flavonoid levels from the leaves of Binahong (Anredera cordifolia [Ten] Steenis).

Biometric identification is largely dependent on feature extraction technology. As feature extraction techniques are increasingly mature, scholars have gradually turned their attention to the relevant problems between biometric characteristics. This paper reviews the characteristic extraction method of face and fingerprint analyzes the feature classification extraction method based on empirical knowledge and the depth learning-based computer logic sampling extraction method and compares existing solutions from the angle of image processing. Based on feature extraction, it will have prospected in the future biometric identification model of progress.
