English is an international language which is very important for smooth bilingual interaction. Along with the times, the ability to speak English is required in all aspects of life to develop. One that is experiencing rapid development is the air transportation industry, which has a similar impact on the development of the airport aspect as a facility for providing aircraft transportation services. One of the important airports in the Riau Archipelago is Batam's Hang Nadim Airport. The airport was officially opened to the public on January 1, 1995 under the name "Hang Nadim International Airport. Since then until today, Hang Nadim airport has grown rapidly and has become one of the largest and busiest airports in Sumatra. With the rapid development of Hang Nadim Airport This, of course requires the use of an international language, namely English as the most commonly used communication medium. It has become a must for airport staff to be able to master English for the smooth operation of the technical process of aircraft and air flight systems. All airport workers are required to have good English language skills. it is appropriate to create conducive working conditions, but in reality on the ground, not all staff who work at airports have basic English skills, especially regarding the basic conversation part in English at the airport. If they are not equipped with basic English skills then they will not be able to speak English. can work optimally. Therefore, it is very important to initiate a dedication to provide a basic introduction to English for staff at Hang Nadim Airport, Batam City, Riau Islands.

Abstract Bivalves is the second most diverse group of molluscs after gastropods, they are also one of the most important members in marine ecosystems. Their taxonomic classifications are based on their morphology which tend to represent adaptation responses to ecology. The samples of bivalves examined in this study were taken in the South Bintan waters by Marine Geological Research and Development Center, Bandung. Identification of the bivalves shell samples was with the aid of a microscope and NIS-Elements software and identified using an identification book. There were 34 species of bivalves found in South Bintan Waters belong to 14 families. The highest abundance was in Station 1 the location close to the overflow of the river and a harbor (1162.5 ind.m-2) and the lowest was in Station 10 the location Station 10 the location close to a small island which is usually used as a tourist spot (62.5 ind.m-2). Their diversity and eveness index were included in the medium category with H’ value of 0.58-4.12 and e value of 0.11-0.89 respectively. There was species dominance in Station 3 (Liralucina lyngei of Lucinidae) and 10 (Cardites bicolor of Carditidae) but not in other stations. Both species was the most frequent species. Bivalves in South Bintan waters showed many different morphologies which represented their adaptation. The bivalve shells found were of different morphology. There are several forms of bivalve shell morphology that have shape round like species Chama japonica, triangular like species Gemma gemma, fragile like species Dendostrea rosacea. The shell decorations found in the bintan Bivalves samples are Spinose, Commarginally, Commarginally and radially ribbed. The hinge teeth are heteroodont, isodont, and schizodont.

Indonesia is a country rich in resources, especially natural resources, but population growth is not proportional to the availability of natural resources. Malthus predicts that population progress to increase in quantity is greater than the ability of natural resources to provide human food needs. The environment cannot support an infinite amount of life if the earth is no longer able to support the explosion in the number of humans and their activities. Indonesia is a country known as a maritime country, which means it is mostly water and consists of islands. Sea transportation is very important to connect the islands scattered throughout Indonesia. The development of environmental law is urgently needed which cannot be separated from the world movement to give greater attention to the environment. In marine pursuits, such as fishing, excessive fish species using trawlers can lead to extinction. Pollution of the marine environment is a threat to human life, animals, and plants. Increased use of the sea can have a direct impact on the marine environment and the biota in it. The Environment Agency is one of the institutions that play a role in handling the impact of marine environmental pollution in the region. The purpose of this research is to find out the Legal Regulation of Marine Pollution by Tanker Ships in the Riau Archipelago Waters. The aim is to find out what factors are being carried out in handling marine pollution by tankers in the waters, especially in the Riau Islands Environmental Service. It is hoped that this will lead to a better understanding of the environmental impact of marine pollution in the region. The Riau Islands Environment Agency is responsible for compensation for losses caused by pollution of the marine environment by persons or legal entities within its jurisdiction. Each country must cooperate in implementing international law which regulates the responsibility and obligation to compensate for losses due to pollution. The International Maritime Organization is a leading organization in producing various regulations on marine pollution, especially those caused by oil. Keywords: Marine Pollution, Tanker Ships, Riau Islands.

The Malay medical manuscript Ramuan Obat EAP153/9/4 is a Malay medical manuscript from Riau Archipelago in today’s Indonesia. It appears to focus on eye diseases and treatments. This study aims to evaluate if the traditional medicines and interventions in the manuscript can be supported scientifically. Critical transliteration and data extraction were performed by applying philological method in identifying and categorising the diseases and interventions. The materia medica was analysed by comparing scientific reports presented in PubMed and Google Scholar, and matching each ingredient to the intended purpose as indicated in the manuscript. The manuscript contains both physical and spiritual interventions amounting to 28 formulations for 7 different types of eye disease. Half of the materia medica and their use in Ramuan Obat EAP153/9/4 could be supported by contemporary scientific evidence. The lack of contemporary scientific evidence for other materia medica, on the other hand, could be attributed to the lack of scientific research on them rather and not necessarily a deficiency in effectiveness. More scientific studies would need to be carried out to validate the safety and efficacy of formulations contained in Malay medical manuscripts as the content could potentially lead to new drug discovery. Apart from scientific gains, the study could also contribute to the preservation of Malay medical culture and heritage.

The ISM Code’s objective is to improve safety and prevent accidents and pollution as regulated by the International Maritime Organization and has been ratified since 1994 by Indonesia and applies to each province, including the Riau Archipelago. The Riau Archipelago almost had 96% of the marine area as its territory and directly borders Singapore and Malaysia with high sea transportation activities and has a strategic role in international trade traffic. This study aimed to analyze the implementation of the ISM Code at KSOP II Class Tanjungpinang through the concept of maritime security. The research method used was the qualitative method. The data obtained were systematically compiled and analyzed qualitatively using the international regime effectiveness analysis. The concept of maritime security was used to answer the implementation of the ISM Code at II Class KSOP Office Tanjungpinang. The application of the ISM Code at II Class KSOP Office Tanjungpinang had to be considered to ensure safe sea transportation activities as regulated by IMO and legalized in each province of Indonesia. The results of this study were necessary to optimize each maritime actor’s function who had legal responsibilities. There were required changes in focus, understanding, and awareness of the importance of maritime security to optimize resources and tasks on an ongoing basis and emphasize preventive and repressive efforts. This assisted in preventing the recurrence of threats and violations of the law in the marine area directly adjacent to the Riau Archipelago.

<p style="text-align: justify;">University students working and studying at the same time for various reasons. The aim of the study is to review the impact of students’ dual role as students and workers on the depression rate of working university students in Batam, Indonesia. A comprehensive review of the literature revealed that working while studying does not necessarily affect students’ academic performance. However, depression is the most common health problem in university students. However, working students tend to have higher depression rate than non-working students. Depression in students may be the cause of the high dropout rate in Batam. It is important to administer depression-prevention intervention as early as possible, since the first- and second-year students are the most likely to get depressed</p><p> </p><p style="text-align: justify;"><em>Beragam alasan melatarbelakangi mahasiswa bekerja selama berkuliah.
