Marking attendance in the class meeting session and recording the marks of the students are the prime tasks of the subject handlers, but current methods are time consuming and hectic. To avoid these problems, this paper aims to present a mobile application for student attendance and mark management system. This application is mainly designed for the faculties and other staff members of the organization who maintain attendance and marks regularly. Using this system, the subject handlers, staff or the authorities can verify the number of students present or absent in the class meeting sessions. This application allows the users to mark attendance through mobile devices and to keep in touch with students. It also gives a prior intimation to students as soon as their attendance goes below the specified percentage through an alert message. Keywords: attendance; mobile applications; manual; student management, student attendance

The current norm of compulsory formal schooling includes a system in which schools teach state mandated curriculum, parents are held legally responsible to assure their children attend school until they reach a certain age, and students are confined within set class meeting times and set locations during their schooling years. The two terms, education and schooling, have been increasingly used synonymously. Our assertion here is that education is a more inclusive term than schooling. More importantly, using Abraham Lincoln as a biographical model, we argue that a good education can be achieved in different ways.

In this article, we report on the implementation of Dynamic Strategic Interaction Scenario tasks as one approach to developing L2 learners’ interactional repertoires. The tasks involve pre-task planning, a performance, and immediate feedback during a whole-class debriefing discussion. We focus specifically on the appropriation of turn allocation devices within a single class meeting in which three small groups performed the same scenario. We show how the first group’s performance prompted a focus on turn allocation during their debriefing, and how the subsequent groups were able to build on the feedback in their own performances. We discuss our findings and their implications for research and pedagogy along three dimensions: 1) the role of feedback as mediation in the debriefing discussions; 2) the contribution of task repetition from a group-as-collective perspective; and 3) the documentation of interactional repertoire development over time.
