Marking attendance in the class meeting session and recording the marks of the students are the prime tasks of the subject handlers, but current methods are time consuming and hectic. To avoid these problems, this paper aims to present a mobile application for student attendance and mark management system. This application is mainly designed for the faculties and other staff members of the organization who maintain attendance and marks regularly. Using this system, the subject handlers, staff or the authorities can verify the number of students present or absent in the class meeting sessions. This application allows the users to mark attendance through mobile devices and to keep in touch with students. It also gives a prior intimation to students as soon as their attendance goes below the specified percentage through an alert message. The number of mobile applications has been increasing rapidly in every field of life with the increasing use of smart devices. Smartphones and tablets make our lives easier with their properties and application they include. Minor or major accidents in traffic are always present in the daily life resulting in financial damage and loss of lives. There have been a number of studies done to speed up the processes to be done from the moment an accident happens. This study aims to enable people to perform all of the post-accident processes quickly and accurately with the use of mobile devices. In this way, papers and documents like photographs will be sent to the competent authorities without wasting time and effort. In addition, access to the road assistance needed will be quite easy. At this time the application for mobile applications on an industrial scale and companies are still considered very lacking for it’s application, it is because the industry that is currently running is still likely to use a desktop. Which with the mobile application opportunity and understanding of technology from everyone in the company, business process automation can be done more efficiently through mobile applications. Planning of this people management system aims to resolve the problem experienced by one of the telecommunications companies in Indonesia, which at present employees find it very difficult to make requests for overtime, leave and claims, because the current system is still in desktop or manual form filling which still depends on the office network environment. Therefore, a mobile application-based People Management System (PMS) will be made in which the process will run in real time and can be done anywhere. For the initial stages of development planning Mobile applications for People Management System (PMS) will greatly help the company problems mentioned earlier. By using Heuristic Task Analysis (HTA) as a method for reviewing the effectiveness of work and activities that are not properly carried out, so it can be obtained desirable productivity (Stanton, 2006)., and the System Usability Scale (SUS) method for interface testing which is carried out directly by end users (Martoyo & Falahah,2015). Based on the provisions of the System Usability Scale score, the assessment results of 10 respondents for the People management system application of 79.0 where the score is the Acceptability Ranges in the Acceptable category and are in grade B. From these results it is felt that there is still need for further development because current planning is for the initial planning phase, there needs to be further development to improve the performance of the company and comfort for employees.

El uso de aplicaciones (apps) móviles en la práctica deportiva se ha convertido en algo habitual. Cada vez es más común ver a personas practicando deporte mientras utiliza su dispositivo móvil para medir su rendimiento o simplemente por el hecho de estar usando una app lúdica que requiere el desplazamiento. Por tanto, debido a la relevancia de la temática, en este estudio se propuso como objetivo analizar el efecto de las aplicaciones móviles en la actividad física a partir de la revisión de las investigaciones indexadas en las bases de datos Scopus y PubMed (2013-2018). La metodología utilizada ha sido una revisión sistemática con meta-análisis, poniendo el foco de interés concretamente en cinco variables de análisis en base a estudios previos: muestra, aplicación móvil, diseño metodológico, instrumentos de recogida de datos y principales hallazgos. La muestra se compuso por investigaciones de carácter empírico con mínimo de un grupo experimental y otro control (n = 18). Entre los resultados, se constata la variabilidad de apps utilizadas en la actividad física, así como el efecto estadísticamente significativo a favor del grupo experimental. Finalmente, los dispositivos móviles son un potente recurso para la mejora y aumento de la práctica deportiva, al mismo tiempo que se establecen nuevos componentes motivacionales para realizar deporte y sus implicaciones en la enseñanza de la educación física.Abstract. The use of mobile applications (apps) in sports has become common practice. It is increasingly common to see people practicing sports while using their mobile device to measure their performance or simply because they are using a playful app that requires movement. Therefore, due to the relevance of the subject, this study aimed to analyse the effect of mobile applications on physical activity from the review of the research indexed in the Scopus and PubMed databases (2013-2018). The methodology used was a systematic review with meta-analysis, placing the focus of interest specifically on five analysis variables based on previous studies: sample, mobile application, methodological design, data collection instruments, and main findings. The sample was composed of empirical research papers with at least one experimental group and another control (n = 18). Among the results, the variability of apps used in physical activity is verified, as well as the statistically significant effect in favour of the experimental group. Finally, mobile devices are a powerful resource for the improvement and increase of sports practice, while establishing new motivational components for sports and their implications in the teaching of physical education.

Ear training aims to ensure the development of individuals receiving music education. There are mobile applications which music students can do hearing studies. The aim of this research; it is determining the content of ear training applications that can be accessed on the internet and downloaded to mobile devices to make a comparative analysis. In the research, 11 mobile applications with 100 thousand or more users were analyzed in terms of Turkish support, courses and ear training studies. As a result of the analyzes made, it was determined that in some applications, interval, scale and chord subjects were explained. It is comprehended that theoretical studies such as setting up defining intervals, scales and chords are included in the applications where ear training are carried out.In some applications, interval, scale, chord vocalization and playing exercises are additionally included. In line with these results; it is suggested to develop a mobile application in which the topics are arranged according to a curriculum, the exercises support the lectures, and the Turkish support is included. Waste Management is one of the hectic and troublesome tasks which require much man power. The traditional waste management system is time consuming and not cost effective. In this scenario, we are designing an intelligent system for solid waste management using Internet of Things. Our proposed system consists of an intelligent smart bin and a mobile application. The smart bin consists of a unique identifier (RFID tag) and an ultra-sonic sensor to determine the waste level of the bin. The mobile application is intended for two user categories: Normal user and Garbage collector. The normal user can locate the nearby dustbins whereas the garbage collector can remotely assess the bin level. When the bin is full, an alert message is sent to the garbage collector and also displays the shortest route to the bin location. It uses genetic algorithm for finding the optimized path from the user to smart bin. The entire connected components and communication is managed by a central coordinator. Our implementation and evaluation results claims that this model can be used as an alternative for the traditional waste management system. This system also ensures cost effectiveness and less time consumption.

Explosive mobile applications (Apps) are proliferating with the popularity of mobile devices (e.g., smartphones, tablets). These Apps are developed to satisfy different function needs of users. Majority of existing App Stores have difficulty in recommending proper Apps for users. Therefore, it is of significance to recommend mobile Apps for users according to personal preference and various constraints of mobile devices (e.g., battery power). In this paper, we propose a mobile App recommendation framework by incorporating different requirements from users. We exploit modern portfolio theory (MPT) to combine the popularity of mobile Apps, personal preference, and mobile device constraints for mobile App recommendation. Based on this framework, we discuss the recommendation approaches by constraints of phone power and limited mobile data plan. Extensive evaluations show that the proposed mobile App recommendation framework can well adapt to power and network data plan constraints. It satisfies the user App preference and mobile device constraints.

This chapter will detail the use of mobile applications in libraries. It will begin by briefly exploring the history of mobile application development, its inception, and progress to its relevance and use within libraries as a means of improving access and resource delivery for patrons. The prevalence of mobile devices, both inside and outside of the library, has affected the way individuals locate and use information. Libraries play an essential role in delivering resources to enhance the way users retrieve information, and therefore it is important to facilitate learning and scholarship through meaningful experiences in a variety of areas and mediums. A mobile application, not just a mobile-friendly website, can appeal to an increasingly digital population of library users in an environment that is both familiar and modern.

With the developing technology, innovations have been started in many areas of life. New solutions based on technology have to be produced for new needs. The Internet has become an indispensable element of life with smartphones and mobile devices.  People can access information faster, less costly and independent of time and place by using mobile devices. As a requirement of the Internet era, many businesses support their business processes, services and products with their mobile applications. Academic institutions and publishers also need to keep up with this mobile transformation. In this study, a mobile application (QR-ticle) has been developed which provides reliable and fast access to the publication related to the references given in academic publications by using QR code. With this application, scientists will be able to create QR code for their own articles and will be able to access any of the articles by scanning the QR code.

The paradigm of the world has shifted to mobile applications. The services that you need are at your fingertips because of the mobile applications which provide online access to the services you have. Several mobile applications like uber freight, ola are present to facilitate the freight service providers. The existing freight management system depends on the model of separating the users on the basis of fleet provider, normal user and one with the large number of vehicles called as freight provider. For a user to login to the system the user can easily enter his desired destination and send his or her belongings to that destination with the online reservation platform provided by the mobile application. Though the existing system is good but it has one limitation. The limitation of all the existing system is that they don’t monitor the load in the vehicle. In order to overcome this limitation, we propose a system which will monitor the load present in the vehicle in real time. We propose a cross platform mobile application which will work on all the available platform. The main aim of the proposed system is to monitor the load present in the truck. The proposed system will use the ultrasonic sensor in the load bearing part of the truck and the total volume as well as the available space in the truck will be continuously monitored and notified to the user who wants to send the load. We will also take into consideration the density of the material so that if the user wants to add a new load the existing load won’t be affected. The path of the truck will also be monitored from origin to destination. The proposed method will develop an application for continuous monitoring of the load in the truck. The main application of the system is use in freight management system for monitoring the load of the vehicle and notifying the users whether the space is available for the vehicle to carry their loads.


This paper proposes a usability measurement forevaluating mobile applications. The measurement incorporates usability viewpoint of both, usability specialist and non-usability expert. The resulting usability measurements were validated through a survey of 113 industrial practitioners in Malaysia. Cronbach alpha of .952 reveals that the survey response is consistent and reliable. Hypothesis testing using a Chi-square goodness of fit indicates that the usability measurements were significantly feasible for real practice with p<.000.Mobile usability studies previously conceptualised usability from HCI perspective (e.g. usability attribute and heuristics), constraints and limitations of mobile devices. On the contrary, this paper characterise usability by integrating design features of mobile application through usability features, and quality attributes through usability criteria, in conceptualising apps usability dimension.
