This paper highlights the imperative of effective intra-relations within the Nigerian Police Force. Most discourses of public relations in relation to the Nigeria Police Force focus more on the external publics with less interest on the internal public. Being a hierarchical organization characterized by top-down communication expressed in form chain of command, it assumes that the police force has no use for symmetrical communication which is the hallmark of Grunig’s excellence theory of public relations. However, this study proves otherwise, that excellent public relations can be practiced in the force when members of the organization especially the superiors realize and operationalize the habit of commanding without debasing their subordinates. In doing this, the status of intra-force relations of the Nigeria police force will be greatly improved. <p> </p><p><strong> Article visualizations:</strong></p><p><img src="/-counters-/edu_01/0797/a.php" alt="Hit counter" /></p>

The publishing of educative materials, fictional and non-fictional books, bulletins, magazines, and newspapers is all for disseminating information to targeted readers. The importance of books and other types of publications to individuals and a nation cannot be overemphasised. Thus, due to how important publishing is, bootlegging, which is the synonym of piracy, was examined in this study. The study examined how bootlegging affects publishing, and if the public is aware of public relations as a body that can curb piracy. However, the Excellence Theory, propounded by James Grunig, was adopted with a random sampling method using survey design. More so, a total of 200 questionnaires were retrieved from the respondents out of 250. The study used Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) to code the respondents' data. According to the findings, both teachers and students are unaware of Public Relations’ function in the publishing industry while the respondents mostly mentioned the government as the body responsible for curbing bootlegging, and that was because the public has limited knowledge on how Public Relations can effectively curb bootlegging in the publishing industry. Thus, this study recommends that the public should be made aware of the functions of Public Relations. Likewise, the publishing industries should not rely only on the government to curb piracy, but they should seek Public Relations agencies' services to curb piracy effectively.

By effectively utilizing internal communications, CEOs are able to influence organizational culture and communications, inspire employee loyalty and engagement, and build brand image at both company and personal levels.  In fact, some scholars believe that the CEO is more responsible for fostering forthright, transparent internal communications than the organization’s actual communications function.   CEOs who are successful in promoting internal communications can positively influence organizational stakeholder relationships and better achieve their strategic goals. Through interviews with five CEOs, this paper determined that two-way internal communications was regarded by senior leadership as being necessary for organizational cohesiveness, strategy development, strategic reputation management, boundary spanning, and preemptive problem prevention.  The CEOs interviewed also considered it their responsibility to model and nurture internal communications and regarded the function as contributing to the achievement of their organization’s strategic goals.   Keywords: internal communications, IABC Excellence Theory, CEO, senior leadership, goal achievement

This study aims to prove three hypotheses, namely public relations theories have been widely adopted in the theses of public relations students, the theory that dominates public relations studies is the Theory of Excellence, and the most widely used of the method is qualitative. The researcher conducted a content analysis on student thesis in universities in Surabaya and Malang City in 2015 until 2019. The samples of this study were 388 theses of the students majoring in the Public Relations study. This study has proven the three hypotheses, namely the theses have applied Public Relations theories, the most widely used of the theory is Excellence theory, and the Qualitative method is the most widely used of the method. This research has also confirmed that the public relations field is not only focused on practice, but also theoretical studies. This study also confirms that the development of public relations in Indonesia is in line with the development of public relations in the United States, that is, from the practical dimension to the dimension of theoretical study.
