Community Service is one part of the direct contribution from academics, in this case the Faculty of Economics and Business, Trisakti University to the community. On this occasion the Trisakti University FEB team had the opportunity to provide training on Material Flow Cost Accounting (MFCA) for MSMEs. This training is considered important considering that the understanding of MSME actors in terms of the flow cost of material is still very minimal, so that in the implementation of their business there are still very few who apply it in the production process. This training aims to educate MSME actors in terms of flow cost accounting for the use of their production materials, MSMEs can sort out the types and types of materials to be used so as to increase the effectiveness and efficiency of production to increase sales and business profits. PKM training will be carried out using an online method considering the conditions of the COVID-19 pandemic, which until now has not allowed face-to-face/off-line training. The output of this PKM will be published to the public so that it can provide wider benefits.

Abstract In situ X-ray diffraction investigations during low pressure carburizing (LPC) processes were performed with a specially developed process chamber at the German Electron Synchrotron Facility (DESY) in Hamburg, Germany. Carbon saturation in austenite was reached in less than 20 seconds for all processes with different parameters and carbides formed at the surface. Therefore, the direct contribution of carbon donor gas to the carbon profile after 20 seconds was reduced to very low levels. After that point, further supply of carbon donor gas increased the amount of carbides formed at the surface, which will contribute to the carbon profile indirectly by dissolution in the following diffusion steps. During quenching, martensite at higher temperatures had a lower c/a ratio than later formed ones. This difference is credited to self-tempering effects and reordering of carbon atoms within the martensite lattice.

On the edges of tourism, volunteering, and travel, we find voluntourism with tourists, mainly from high-income countries, looking for an alternative form of travel that promises sustainable development of destinations. The aim of the paper is to explore voluntourism through motivations and impacts, as well as aggregate different volunteers in categories, in order to better understand this phenomenon. The results of a questionnaire answered by 65 international volunteers show seven motivations and a lack of attention on the local projects. More than half of the volunteers are considered to have short participations in projects, considering the destination as a very important aspect, have minimal skills, and have a passive participation, as a minimal direct contribution. Generically, our research may help to highlight and boost the voluntourism experience, creating positive and transformative changes.

Impact analysis of the construction and commissioning of a rail freight infrastructure must contemplate the regional economic system in its entirety, since that impact extends beyond the direct contribution to the increase in production, and the consequent generation of income from capital and remuneration of labor incorporated in such activity. The objective of this research is to know the effects that a rail freight infrastructure produces in a region with a low population, such as Extremadura (Spain). For this purpose, the calculation of the total impact produced by the rail freight corridor on the regional economy of Extremadura has been made, which will correspond to the sum of the direct, indirect and induced impacts. For its determination, a simulation tool has been created from Input-Output tables that allow you to compare different impact levels depending on the intensity of the investments made, or the activity developed following the launch of the new rail corridor. The research concludes with the profitability of the action because for a planned investment of 160 M€ for 3 years in the freight rail corridor from Extremadura, every euro invested returns in more than 2 euros to the Extremadura’s productive system, creating more than 4100 jobs.

The phenotypic heterogeneity and functional diversity of macrophages confer on them complexed roles in the development and progression of kidney diseases. After kidney injury, bone marrow-derived monocytes are rapidly recruited to the glomerulus and tubulointerstitium. They are activated and differentiated on site into pro-inflammatory M1 macrophages, which initiate Th1-type adaptive immune responses and damage normal tissues. In contrast, anti-inflammatory M2 macrophages induce Th2-type immune responses, secrete large amounts of TGF-β and anti-inflammatory cytokines, transform into αSMA+ myofibroblasts in injured kidney, inhibit immune responses, and promote wound healing and tissue fibrosis. Previous studies on the role of macrophages in kidney fibrosis were mainly focused on inflammation-associated injury and injury repair. Apart from macrophage-secreted profibrotic cytokines, such as TGF-β, evidence for a direct contribution of macrophages to kidney fibrosis is lacking. However, under inflammatory conditions, Wnt ligands are derived mainly from macrophages and Wnt signaling is central in the network of multiple profibrotic pathways. Largely underinvestigated are the direct contribution of macrophages to profibrotic signaling pathways, macrophage phenotypic heterogeneity and functional diversity in relation to kidney fibrosis, and on their cross-talk with other cells in profibrotic signaling networks that cause fibrosis. Here we aim to provide an overview on the roles of macrophage phenotypic and functional diversity in their contribution to pro-fibrotic signaling pathways, and on the therapeutic potential of targeting macrophages for the treatment of kidney fibrosis.

We report a functional coupling between spinal locomotor and oculomotor networks in the mouse, similar to the one previously described in amphibians. This is the first evidence for the direct contribution of locomotor networks to gaze control in mammals, suggesting a conservation of the spino-extraocular coupling in higher tetrapods during sustained locomotion.

The purpose of this paper is to put forward concisely some of the most valuable scientific contributions of academician Pavel Vlad and his disciples to the field of natural product chemistry of terpenoids. Under the guidance and with direct contribution of academician Pavel Vlad, new approaches to determining the absolute configuration of a series of labdanic diterpenoids and of converting them into bi-, tri- and tetra- cyclic compounds have been designed. Novel universal methods for synthesizing tetrahydrofurans from 1,4-glycols, olefins from tertiary alcoholic acetates, as well as dienones by means of photodehydrogenation of unsaturated cyclic ketons have been developed by academician Pavel Vlad.
