Purpose – This study aims to obtain information about the effect of using the Montessori cards and counters’ mathematics activity on learning the result of odd and even numbers of 1 to 10 to the kindergarten students at the age of 4 to 5 years.Design/methods/approach – Quantitative research with a quasi-experimental model of non-equivalent control group design was carried out by applying conventional methods (lectures and giving questions by worksheets) to the control group and applying the Montessori learning model through the use of Cards and Counters apparatus in the experimental group with 30 samples of students, divided into two classes (control class and experiment class) at Kalyca Azzahra School, West Java, Indonesia.Findings – The result showed that students who used the Montessori Mathematics cards and counters achieved higher mathematics odd and even numbers are learning results than those who were not taught with the Montessori approach.Research implications/limitations – This research design used pre-test and post-test. Thus, the treatment results can be more accurate because they can be compared before and after treatment.Practical implications – The use of the Montessori apparatus becomes necessary in introducing early mathematics to children and attracting children’s attention to learn and facilitate teachers in teaching mathematics. Displaying the concrete objects as a medium will help teachers in teaching early mathematics to children. The cards and counters allow children to verify their understanding of the concept by matching the qualitative, concrete, quantitative, or abstract before slowly removing the concrete altogether.Originality/value – This research contributes to understanding learning strategies used in Early Mathematics, Odd and Even Numbers. The Montessori apparatus becomes more natural to understand it by the child’s cognitive development effortlessly. Paper type Research paper

Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) is a concept that is gaining a following worldwide as a cost-effective means for schools to provide 21st-century skills (Bell, 2010) with limited funding. The current paper shows the results of a survey into the opinions and perceptions of parents of Japanese K1-3 students' use of technology, specifically the application of BYOD at this level. This survey was conducted at a private kindergarten in Japan and was administered to 100 parents of K1-3 students. Results of this survey showed that even at this age, students have access to and use a variety of devices within the home environment under the guidance of parents. In addition, device time usage varied significantly by household, with some children allowed to use devices for over 90 minutes per day. However, when asked if they would accept BYOD at the K1-3 level, the answers were overwhelmingly negative. Thus, the results of this survey show that while BYOD was considered acceptable from the higher grades of elementary school, the idea of implementing a BYOD program at the K1-3 level is still a step too far for parents of kindergarten students in Japan.

The problem of the current paper arises from the individual’s need to hold himself accountable and reconsider his behaviors or actions when many situations passing him in daily in which he lives and keeps into contact with those around him. This situation is accompanied by either psychological pain or the individual’s feeling of relief, each according to the nature of the personality of this individual and his emotional state. The individual’s feeling of guilt is nothing but a necessity for the individual to discipline himself and address the mistakes and abusive actions in order to stop them once and for all, provided that the situation does not reach the feeling of imaginary guilt, which is considered obstructing his thinking and leads him to give errors greater than their normal size, which is what happens in patients having depression. Al-Ansari’s study (2001) maintained that university students suffer from situational guilt at a rate of (8.9%), while the percentage of university female students reached (17.4%). This gives an indication that female students are more likely to feel situational guilt than male students and that these percentages are serious and cannot be underestimated. Because the kindergarten students are part of the university students, their role as future teachers for an important segment of society is the focus, namely Kindergarten Dept. The kindergarten teacher should be more responsible and more psychologically and emotionally balanced in its dealings with the different situations that it brings together with the child and be alert to the conscience to achieve equality between children, taking into account the individual differences between them, so the problem of the current research was identified by the following question: Is there a relationship between situational guilt and conscientious awareness for kindergarten students? The current research aims to identify the relationship between situational guilt and conscientious awareness among female kindergarten students. The research sample consisted of (300) female students from the Kindergarten Department, and to achieve the goal of the research, two scales were prepared: the Situational Guilt Scale and the Conscientious Awareness Scale for the Kindergarten Department students. Through reviewing the literature and previous studies, the researcher identified (32) items for the Situational Guilt Scale and (24) to measure the final form of conscientious awareness, the validity, and reliability of the two scales were confirmed. After using the statistical methods, the research reached the following results: • The research sample has a high degree of situational guilt. • The research sample has a high degree of conscientious awareness. • There is a high correlation between situational guilt and conscientious awareness among female students of the Kindergarten Department.

The learning process that occurs at this time is not optimal. The provision of stimulation to improve children's development is carried out in a straightforward, general way, without enjoyable media stimulation. Students tend to be left to play alone in the schoolyard. It causes students to feel bored in following the lesson. This study aims to develop hand puppets and serial pictures as stimulation media for early childhood. This type of research is development. The research design used research development (R&D) about Borg and Gall with modified stages. The product test subjects studied were kindergarten students individually. The research data was collected using a questionnaire method, then the data collected was analyzed descriptively qualitatively concerning the theory of Miles and Huberman. The results of the media expert test on the five components/indicators rated for serial image media 89.2%, hand puppets 97.2%. The results of the material expert test on five elements/valuable indicators of hand puppets are 100%, and the picture series is 100%. Design expert test results obtained 93% for hand puppets and 80% for serial images. The percentage received shows that both media are feasible to be used to stimulate the growth and development of early childhood language skills. This research implies that teachers can apply the media of hand puppets and serial pictures to increase motivation and learning outcomes of early childhood.

In line with the Indonesian money-saving campaign, community service activities were carried out to foster interest in money-saving among kindergarten students in Beji Timur, Depok. These activities had been carried out since the end of March and ended in June 2021 as the culmination of the theme “Ayo Menabung”(let's save money), with the target audience of Raudhatul Athfal Toufiqurrahman students. The community service partner was BRI Agroniaga Depok Branch which provided facilities for opening student saving accounts and sponsoring other educational activities. A total of 32 saving accounts had been realized, and in June 2021, the peak of the “Ayo Menabung” event was held in the form of the practice of money deposit in a bank. Each student has an account opened with an initial deposit of IDR.20,000, then in the practice of saving, each student was given IDR.200,000 to be deposited in their accounts. During the evaluation period, another IDR.30,000 was added, so that each student had a total saving of IDR.250,000. As a continuation, the children would maintain their savings account independently, facilitated through a pick-up service from the bank, supported by motivation from parents and teachers to keep the children's consistency in saving money. Because it was still in a pandemic situation, bank tellers or customer service staffs would come to school to serve the children practicing money deposit. Through this community service, the children got new knowledge about banking and the benefits of savings. In addition, it also provided financial knowledge to the parents and teachers. There was almost no significant problem in the implementation of the service activities, except for the constraints more related to the Covid-19 pandemic so that there was a necessary extra effort for activities to coordinate related parties. The commitment and participation of stakeholders in information dissemination and actualization of student money-saving practices can foster a culture of money-savings while the collaboration creates a mechanism to ensure sustainable money-saving habit among children.

What are missing in the U.S. education policy of “college for all” are supporting data and indicators on K-16 education pathways, i.e, how well all students get ready and stay on track from kindergarten through college. This study creates synthetic national longitudinal education database that helps track and support students’ educational pathways by combining two nationally-representative U.S. sample datasets: Early Childhood Longitudinal Study- Kindergarten (ECLS-K; Kindergarten through 8th grade) and National Education Longitudinal Study (NELS; 8th grade through age 25). The merge of these national datasets, linked together via statistical matching and imputation techniques, can help bridge the gap between elementary and secondary/postsecondary education data/research silos. Using this synthetic K-16 education longitudinal database, this study applies machine learning data analytics in search of college readiness early indicators among kindergarten students. It shows the utilities and limitations of linking preexisting national datasets to impute education pathways and assess college readiness. It discusses implications for developing more holistic and equitable educational assessment system in support of K-16 education longitudinal database.
