Mapping the Leisure Time of Students at Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta During the COVID-19 Pandemic

The purpose of this research was to map the leisure time of Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta Indonesia (UNY) students during the COVID-19 pandemic. The sample size was determined by referring to the Morgan and Krecjie table. To avoid the drop-out response, the sample size was rounded to 560 respondents, and the sample included representatives from across the seven faculties in UNY, with 80 respondents for each faculty. This research used a quantitative approach, with descriptive techniques. Quantitative data were collected through a survey by using a Google form. The results showed that free time usage by UNY students for educational activities was 65.87%, sport and recreation was 57.86%, religious activities was 65.67%, time with family was 84.89%, community activities was 53.28%, and economic activities was 54.04%. The Opinions and Perceptions of K1-3 Parents in Relation to BYOD Implementation in Japanese Kindergartens

Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) is a concept that is gaining a following worldwide as a cost-effective means for schools to provide 21st-century skills (Bell, 2010) with limited funding. The current paper shows the results of a survey into the opinions and perceptions of parents of Japanese K1-3 students' use of technology, specifically the application of BYOD at this level. This survey was conducted at a private kindergarten in Japan and was administered to 100 parents of K1-3 students. Results of this survey showed that even at this age, students have access to and use a variety of devices within the home environment under the guidance of parents. In addition, device time usage varied significantly by household, with some children allowed to use devices for over 90 minutes per day. However, when asked if they would accept BYOD at the K1-3 level, the answers were overwhelmingly negative. Thus, the results of this survey show that while BYOD was considered acceptable from the higher grades of elementary school, the idea of implementing a BYOD program at the K1-3 level is still a step too far for parents of kindergarten students in Japan.

Evaluation of toxicological profile of methanol leaf extract of Waltheria indica (Sterculiaceae)

Waltheria indica has been claimed to be used in managing several diseases in traditional medicine, although substantial scientific data are not available as regards its safety despite its pronounced efficacy in management of some ailments. Therefore, methanol leaf extract of W. indica was evaluated for its effects on some toxicological parameters using experimental animals. However, acute and sub-acute toxicity were carried out using experimental animals as described by standard methods. Absence of death reported after 24 hours of single oral administration of W. indica indicated that the crude drug is safe orally and the sample also had no effect on both hematological and biochemical parameters, with mild toxicity observed with some vital enzymes and organs upon continuous oral administration of W. indica for 21 days. However, it can be concluded that prolong usage of the plant for disease management should be discouraged, which implies that usage of the pant for short time usage in disease management.

Nilai Budaya dalam Novel Taira no Masakado Karya Eiji Yoshikawa (Kajian Antropologi Sastra)

The purpose of this research is to describe the cultural values which are contained in Taira no Masakado novel. The author used descriptive analysis methods to analyse data. This research used literature study method, observe technique, and noting technique to collect data. Miles and Huberman descriptive analysis model was used to analyse data, which is an interactive analysis model. There are five aspects of cultural value orientation within society that was analysed using theory by Clyde Kluckhohn. Those values are, the aspect of human-life reality cultural value, which consists of the value of piety and religiousness. The aspect of human-nature reality cultural value, which consists of the natural resource usage and unity value. The aspect of interhuman cultural value, which consists of the responsibility, helping other, love, and friendship value. The aspect of human-work cultural value which consists of the patient, perseverance, hard work, and loyalty value. And The aspect of human-time cultural value, consists of the time usage value.

We propose a style of hand postures to trigger commands on a laptop. The key idea is to perform hand-postures while keeping the hands on, beside, or below the keyboard, to align with natural laptop usage. 36 hand-posture variations are explored considering three resting locations, left or right hand, open or closed hand, and three wrist rotation angles. A 30-participant formative study measures posture preferences and generates a dataset of nearly 350K images under different lighting conditions and backgrounds. A deep learning recognizer achieves over 97% accuracy when classifying all 36 postures with 2 additional non-posture classes for typing and non-typing. A second experiment with 20 participants validates the recognizer under real-time usage and compares posture invocation time with keyboard shortcuts. Results find low error rates and fast formation time, indicating postures are close to current typing and pointing postures. Finally, practical use case demonstrations are presented, and further extensions discussed.

144Ce - 144Pr spectrum measurement with 4π semiconductor β-spectrometer

Precision β-spectra measurement always had a great importance in some fundamental physics problems including neutrino physics. Magnetic and electrostatic spectrometers have high resolution, but at the same time usage of such kinds of equipment involves the size and cost issues. Since electron mean free path at the energy of 3 MeV (which is basically the maximum energy of a β-transition for the long-lived nuclei) does not exceed 2 g/crn2 , electron registration could be effectively performed with the solid state scintillators and semiconductors. A strong probability of backscattering from detector surface is present in case of semiconductor detectors and is dependent upon the detector material. Such problem can be solved with 4π geometry detector development, which fully covers the radioactive source and is able to register the backscattered electrons. In this work we present the newly developed technology of 4π geometry β-spectrometer based on two semiconductor detectors. This spectrometer was used for measurement of the 144Ce - 144Pr spectrum, that is the perspective anti-neutrino source due to endpoint energy at 3 MeV and can be used for the sterile neutrino search experiments. The form-factor parameters that were obtained are: C(W) = 1 + (-0.02877 ± 0.00028)W + (-0.11722 ± 0.00297)W-1. The measurement accuracy was sufficiently enhanced with respect to the previous results.

This chapter explores both the end of war (and its accompanying diction), and the end of Andrew Clark’s ‘Words in War-Time’ project in 1919, and the afterlives that this reveals. The language of memory, and public and private memorialization, is an important part of this. Poppies, war shrines, and memorial services are all part of Clark’s process of attentive record. So, too, was the shifting language of the souvenir. As war ended, Clark, of necessity, also gathered his own last words. Nevertheless, as he stressed, trying to create a history of war-time usage in a single-handed project now seemed increasingly foolhardy. He was acutely aware of the imperfections of what he had achieved. ‘Words in War-Time’ remained incomplete and unrevised (Clark died in 1922) – an archive of scraps and annotations, both fascinating and frustrating. This chapter concludes by examining his legacies, insights, and the enduring value of his work.

LINGUISTIC ASPECTS OF CHARTED KNITTING PATTERNS

The paper outlines the linguistic and semiotic aspects of a specialty text – a knitting pattern. In today’s busy world, nobody wants to read long and complicated texts if it can be easier illustrated by a photograph or a charted image that uses a set of specific symbols with their own, non-arbitrary meanings to make a text reader’s time usage more effective but also clear. Aspects of signs, semiotics, and language games are also explored in alignment with knitting charts as the main reference, as a knitting chart symbol is a concrete referent in its context. Finally, the translation of knitting charts is described, including the importance of a chart key and what transformations of text have occurred in the translation of knitting charts from English into Latvian. Charted knitting patterns could become a that could be easily transferred between different languages and cultures, helping people share their skills and heritage. Knitting and linguistics and translation studies is a new area of research that could bring many new insights about crafting and specialized language use.

Motivasi Belajar Dan Manajemen Waktu Untuk Anak Panti Yayasan Mutiara Ibu Nusantara (Yasmin)

Dalam era globalisasi seperti sekarang ini, pendidikan merupakan hal terpenting dan suatu kebutuhan bagi setiap orang, karena melalui pendidikanlah seseorang dapat memperoleh ilmu pengetahuan. Motivasi memegang peranan yang penting dalam proses belajar. Apabila guru dan orang tua dapat memberikan motivasi yang baik pada siswa atau anaknya, maka dalam diri siswa atau anak akan timbul dorongan dan hasrat untuk belajar lebih baik. Memberikan motivasi yang baik dan sesuai, maka anak dapat menyadari akan manfaat belajar dan tujuan yang hendak dicapai dengan belajar tersebut. Motivasi belajar juga diharapkan mampu menggugah semangat belajar, terutama bagi para siswa yang malas belajar sebagai akibat pengaruh negative dari luar diri siswa. Dan Sekolah merupakan lembaga pendidikan formal sebagai sarana untuk mencapai tujuan pendidikan nasional. Seseorang yang berprestasi tinggi berhasil mengelola dan menerapkan penggunaan waktu mereka dengan sangat baik. Dengan menggunakan teknik manajemen waktu, dapat meningkatkan kemampuan seseorang untuk berfungsi lebih efektif bahkan ketika waktu terbatas dan mendapat tekanan. Learning motivation is also expected to encourage learning, especially for students who are lazy to learn as a result of negative influences from outside the students. And the School is a formal educational institution as a means to achieve national educational goals. A high achiever manages and applies their time usage very well. By using time management techniques, it can improve one's ability to function more effectively even when time is limited and under pressure.
