PT.X as one of the heavy equipment manufacturing company are producing mining and non-mining transportation product (e.g. Semi Side Tipper (SST) & Dolly). In producing those kinds of products that mostly using tires, there is a process area to do mounting truck tire. Based on interviews and direct observation results, there is a symptom of Cumulative Trauma Disorders (CTD), especially in the low back area. The low back pain experienced by the operators is caused by an awkward posture that resulted from Manual Material Handling (MMH) in this process. Lifting and holding the tire that is located on the floor with diameter 1.2m, height 0.3m, and weight 90 Kg also the reasons why the awkward posture appears during the mounting truck tire process. Using Rapid Entire Body Assessment (REBA), Nordic Questionnaire, and followed by the Quality Function Deployment (QFD) approach for product design are used to do the improvement for the process. In the end, these ergonomics issues are solved by developing material handling tools that can minimize the risk and symptoms of CTDs. It can be shown by initially REBA score is on level 11 (Very High Risk) to level 7 (Medium Risk) and for the Nordic result from 7 body parts that feel discomfort, now it just becomes 1 body parts feel discomfort.

Background: Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, in 2020, many employees were required to work from home (WFH). During this WFH period, some employees encountered health issues related to sprains and neck or back pain owing to poor working conditions at home. As the WFH trend may continue over a prolonged period, the underlying causes and solutions to ergonomic issues must be addressed to reduce injuries. This study aims to identify the ergonomic issues encountered when working from home and suggests several solutions to minimise these issues.  Methods: A qualitative ethnographic methodology was adopted. This study used focus group discussion and the panellists were among experts from the fields of higher education, healthcare, human resources (HR), and ergonomics patient in Malaysia.  The most common ergonomic issues identified were based on diagnoses and observations in previous studies.  Results: The panellists agreed on ergonomics issues, comprising the use of unergonomic chairs, incorrect sitting postures, irregular arrangement of key objects, improper reach distances of the laptop/keyboard/mouse, poor desk designs, footrest absence, distortion/noise, poor lighting, and poor work environment. Over time, WFH ergonomics issues may lead to burnout, carpal tunnel syndrome or other cumulative trauma disorders, high blood pressure, and stress on the cervical spine and neck. The proposed solutions include a complete WFH ergonomics and wellness checklist for employees and employers, webinar sessions on WFH ergonomics, meet-up sessions with ergonomics or HR experts, workspace rentals for co-workers, implementation of the 20-20-20 rule and job-sharing practices, and the involvement of employers or the government in procuring ergonomic equipment for WFH employees.  Conclusions: This is a preliminary study and the researchers are exploring the root causes of WFH ergonomics issues and proposed solutions. While previous studies have examined workplace ergonomics, this study focuses on WFH ergonomic issues and solutions during the ongoing pandemic.

Abstract Pandemic of COVID-19 unspecifically has a physical effect on its sufferers, however it has negative impacts towards the mental and psychological of sufferers. To alleviate community pressure, the government and some NGOs are responsible for providing counselling services as psychological support. Counsellors, on the other hand, are continuously exposed to trauma disorders as a result of the conduct of counselling sessions, even though they do not directly experience it. Secondary Traumatic Stress, or STS for short, is a disease that refers to emotional distress caused by the emotional suffering of others. This impact was created because the client was given attention and compassion, as well as strong incentive to help ease the patient's pain. If no special preparation is given, the patient is vulnerable to the onset of STS symptoms, which have negative consequences on the physical, cognitive, mental, behavioural, social, and spiritual levels. As a result, during the COVID-19 pandemic era, a study that provides preparatory recommendation for counsellors dealing with a wide range of clients during the COVID-19 pandemic period is much needed. This research focuses on a data collection procedure in a library based on the theory of Secondary Traumatic Stress and the COVID-19 pandemic. This study argues that counsellors receive psychospiritual support training in order to satisfy the demands of Secondary Traumatic Stress Disorder in the COVID-19 pandemic period. Keywords: COVID-19, traumatic, psychospiritual, mental health, sympathy     Abstrak   Wabak COVID-19 bukan sahaja memberi kesan berbentuk fizikal kepada para pengidapnya, malah turut memberi impak negatif kepada mental dan psikologi.

Focus and precision are the sine qua non of dentistry, wherein the routine tasks require a peak pinch force and results in finger fatigue and cumulative trauma disorders combined with impaired vision. Dentists’ posture is treated with great care and oft repeated in Ergonomics, studied in undergraduate courses and the continuing education courses, though many still do not know the subject well enough. The study selection was done upon selecting the dental surgeons, hygienists, assistant working on their patients and included the findings relating to practice environment. The electronically searched sources until 2021 were the MEDLINE Pub med, EMBASE, Wiley Online Library, Science direct, American Dental Association (ADA) website and Google Scholar. An additional manual search and queries with cross-reference yielded around fifty studies ultimately. The International Ergonomic Association (IEA) recognized certain domains long ago and its noteworthy application for dental office is set forth in the present review. Ergo-dentistry may come to be realized as a new essential in the new normal for our profession. Evidence echoes that dentists are at risk for developing health problems, particularly the musculoskeletal disorders and impaired vision. Beyond doubt, a healthy dentist is a pre-requisite for a successful dental practice. Ergodontics is the key to keep check on the same and following its core principles is essential.

This study discusses work posture analysis using the rapid upper limb assessment (RULA) method at Kerupuk Kemplang 32 Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), Bumi Waras District, Bandar Lampung. The purpose of this study was to determine unsafe work postures for workers, and to minimize injuries to the skeletal system and nervous system caused by repetitive movements (Cumulative Trauma Disorders), how the influence of work attitudes or postures of workers and the workplace, provide recommendations for appropriate work postures. safe based on the upper limb assessment (RULA) method. This research is a descriptive study with data analysis using the RULA method. The data collection method uses primary data in the form of worker posture data which includes upper arms, forearms, wrists, hands, neck, back and legs. The results of this study indicate that the working posture of making kemplang cracker dough is divided into two activities, namely taking sago water and making the dough, both of which have a score of 7 which indicates Action Level 4 and the roasting section of kemplang crackers has the same score, 7 indicating Action Level 4. From these data, it can be concluded that this work posture needs to be improved in the near future.

Temperature gradient changes on the surface of the skin or in the middle of the body are signs of a disease. The aim of this study is to develop quantitative models for the prediction of cumulative trauma disorders (CTDs) arising from highly repetitive activities, considering risk factors, such as age, gender, body mass index (BMI), blood pressure (BP), respiratory rate (RR), and heart rate, to prevent injuries in manufacturing factory operators. This research involved 19 individuals from the area of sanding and 14 individuals from the area of tolex in manufacturing factories who had their vital signs and somatometry taken, as well as thermal images of their hands in the dorsal and palmar areas; an evaluation by the OCRA method was also applied. Factors such as BP and heart rate were determined to significantly influence the injuries, but no strong association with BMI was found. Quadratic regression models were developed, the estimates of which were adequately adjusted to the variable (R2 and R2 adjusted > 0.70). When integrating the factors of the OCRA method to the generated models, a better fit was obtained (R2 and adjusted R2 > 0.80). In conclusion, the participants who present levels out of the normal range in at least one of the factors have high probabilities of developing injuries in their wrists.

The Covid-19 pandemic is an ongoing disaster on a scale no one living can recall. Since the end of 2019, it is causing not only countless deaths and physical debility, but also extraordinary social disruption, changing every aspect of people’s working and social lives. As a consequence, in the wake of the virus has come a second wave of psychiatric consequences, mostly prominently anxiety, depression, and posttraumatic stress. This flood of illness and distress will likely continue at least until an effective vaccine is found and distributed and, even then, will leave psychic scars. How best to treat the slew of psychiatric suffering from such tragedy or, indeed, from any ongoing disaster? Interpersonal psychotherapy (IPT) is an evidence-based, time-limited, affect- and life event–focused psychotherapy, repeatedly tested in more than forty years of treatment research and shown to help patients with mood, anxiety, and trauma disorders. With adaptation to the particular current conditions, IPT appears an excellent fit for the strong feelings and symptoms arising from these horrific life events. his manual by Dr. John Markowitz, a leading IPT expert, equips therapists to treat the most common psychiatric consequences of the pandemic.
