Nowadays, endorsement or paid promotion activities on Instagram are not only done by celebrities but also by people from other profession with many followers such as television journalist. The journalists who play an important role as the fourth pillar of a democratic nation are immersed in digital euphoria by participating in endorsement activities. This certainly leaves ethical problems, based on the Indonesian Journalist Code of Ethics, journalists must be independent and prohibited to misuse their profession to benefit certain parties. Therefore, this research was conducted to study this phenomenon, especially in understanding the attitudes and perceptions of journalists towards their endorsement or paid promotion activities. This research was conducted using a descriptive-qualitative approach with semi-structured in-depth interview. Five informants, journalists form several television stations in Indonesia (SCTV, TV One and Kompas TV), were interviewed. The results showed that the journalist’s motives in doing the endorsement are to help small businesses and to get financial benefits. Four informants believed that the endorsement activities did not violate the Journalist Code of Ethics as long as they only talk about the facts and do not spread mislead information, while, the other one argued it certainly did. Their perceptions were influenced by their membership of professional association and ownership of professional certification. The informant who agreed that the endorsement activities are not in accordance with the code of ethics, has a membership of Indonesian Television Journalists Association (Ikatan Jurnalis Televisi Indonesia) and also has a professional certification as primary journalist, while the other informants do not have.

The Covid-19 pandemic caused a deep crisis with significant consequences in the political, economic, cultural and social sphere on a global scale. While the measures taken against the spread of the epidemic caused disruptions in social processes, work in some business lines came to a halt. There are a number of structural transformations such as health becoming a fundamental issue, increasing digitalization in every field, reshaping social relations, economic and artistic activities. This research is a qualitative research conducted to reveal the extent to which the working order of journalists, whose work intensity increases even more in extraordinary situations such as epidemic, war and disaster, is affected by the Covid-19 outbreak. Within the scope of the research, the opinions of 9 journalists working in the news organizations in Ankara were consulted. According to the findings of the research, it was determined that especially newspapers and televisions could not find the opportunity to apply the news gathering method from the field, that they collected the news mostly from news agencies and secondary sources they accessed by new communication media. It is concluded that this situation, which is caused by the risk of disease infection and the restriction of the participation of journalists to news sources activities, causes the newspaper and television journalists to tend to the new communication media that they partially use in the usual period. Keywords: Journalism, news production practices, Kovid-19 outbreak

This chapter analyses patriotic discourses of Russian television journalists. The starting point is that there is a certain pressure to be patriotic imposed upon journalists who work for mainstream television. Three discourses on patriotism have been identified through thematic interviews: a personal, intimate patriotism; a militaristic one - and a patriotism that draws from the narratives of ongoing information war. Russian journalists use all three discourses when they explain their attitude towards patriotism. While journalists express criticism towards militaristic undertones of official discourse, the most prominent figures in television accept and repeat it in their work.

Media ecology reflects that mass media have to move dynamically to survive its life in the middle of media pressure and competition among other platforms. In the digital era, television as conventional media needs to embrace the technology by airing diversity issues in social media Youtube. This study has a question about media ecology in the reportage of diversity issues by television journalists in Ambon. This research using a mixed method approach, quantitative and qualitative, with content analysis, FGD, interview, and literature review as a technique for data collecting. Content analysis is conducted toward news diversity about Maluku which aired on the Youtube television channel. Then FGD is conducted further with television journalists in Ambon in which their news has been analyzed. Further, the interview is conducted with a broadcasting supervisor as well as a member of the journalist organization. This study finds that media ecology has been changing to new media ecology. Nevertheless, new media ecology is not fully implemented by television journalists in Ambon when reporting the diversity issues. The journalists will frame their news before report it mainly for news with the tendency to the SARA (ethnicity, religion, and race) issues. Framing is formed when journalists narrate their news before aired. It implemented due to their conflict experienced in the past. The journalists have responsibility and awareness in terms of the effect of their news. Their SARA’s news which aired in the Youtube platform could trigger conflict. The conflict has a huge impact on their personal and social life Ekologi media merefleksikan bahwa media massa harus bergerak dinamis untuk bertahan hidup di tengah tekanan dan kompetisi dengan berbagai platform.

The issues of the development of traditional news television in the context of a single information space are considered. The goal is to look at how much content creators and consumers agree in their predictions about the future of TV. The data of in-depth interviews were used as empirical material: professional television journalists (federal TV channels) and students (PFUR “Television” department) were interviewed. The contradictions between the two basic types of media consumption, which are characteristic of addressers and addressees of television messages, are revealed. It is shown that these contradictions explain the generational gap in the perception of modern news television programs, predetermine the decrease in TV consumption of news content from federal channels designed for a mass audience. The relevance of the work is due to the rethinking of the functions and prospects for the development of traditional TV by both professional broadcasters and consumers. The conclusion is made about the further development of news television. It is noted that, on the one hand (the opinion of professionals), traditional television broadcasting will be preserved while adjusting the agenda, rethinking interaction with the audience, changing the broadcasting paradigm, mastering new competencies by professional journalists and using the opportunities of the online space. On the other hand (students’ opinion), subject-to-object news broadcasting of federal channels will cease to exist when the generation of viewers and the funding model change.

Television news corporations changed their work roles from a tradition of team production to a ‘one-man-band’ method of production. Many veteran reporters are hesitant to accept the new methodology. This study intended to examine how television news reporters adjusted to more work demands and new technologies. A questionnaire was combined with participant observation for analysis. The participants included 289 television journalists, selected from local affiliates throughout the United States. The results indicate that there is preference for younger workers and burnout occurring to all age groups. This study explores the commodification of the profession in terms of labour value.
