Abstract We examine how pre-play communication and clustering affect play in a challenging hybrid experimental game on networks. Free-form chat is impressively effective in achieving the non-equilibrium efficient outcome, but restricted communication has little effect. We support this result with a model about the credibility of cheap-talk messages. We also offer a model of message diffusion that correctly predicts more rapid diffusion without clustering. We show an interaction effect of network structure and communication technologies. A remarkable result is that restricted communication is quite effective in a network Stag Hunt, but not in our extended game.

Behcet syndrome (BS) is a multisystemic perivasculitis whose genetic susceptibility is linked to HLA region. We first meta-analysed all HLA class I and II genes involved in BS susceptibility in all ethnic groups worldwide. We identified 1141 articles and finally included 31 case-control studies after multiple rounds of selection. We analysed frequencies for 24 HLA-A alleles (3 alleles for HLA-A ∗ 26 at four digits), 50 HLA-B alleles (11 alleles for HLA-B ∗ 51 at four digits), 15 HLA-C alleles, 16 HLA-DRB1 alleles, 6 HLA-DQB1 alleles, and 15 HLA-DPB1 alleles. We meta-analysed only HLA allelic frequencies from at least three studies; therefore, we investigated 21 alleles out of 140. Going from 7.00 to 1.6 OR, we found 11 class I alleles conferring risk for BS: B ∗ 51 : 08 , B ∗ 51 , B ∗ 51 : 01 , B ∗ 51 : 02 , DQB 1 ∗ 03 , A ∗ 26 : 01 , Cw ∗ 14 , Cw ∗ 15 , Cw ∗ 16 , B ∗ 15 , and A ∗ 26 . Overall, the studies included populations from Europe (Greece, Spain, Italy, Germany, and Ireland), Asia (Korea, China, China Han, and Thailand), Middle East (Israel, Saudi Arabia, and Iran), and Morocco (as no other North-African population was included). We collected a number of ethnical groups sufficient to conduct an ethnic-specific meta-analysis where Europeans showed 11.25 OR for B ∗ 51:08 and Japan 3.50 OR for A ∗ 26 : 01 . A remarkable result was that the most frequent HLA − B ∗ 51 two-digit alleles associated with BS were different among populations: HLA − B ∗ 51 : 08 in Europe, HLA − B ∗ 51 : 01 in Turkey, and HLA − B ∗ 51 : 02 in Japan. Overall, we discussed our real-world results with other imputation studies.

The Hechuan gas field is one of the tight gas reservoirs with the highest formation water salinity in China. The content of metal ions, such as calcium, magnesium, iron, and barium, is as high as 20 g/L. Severe scales in near-wellbore reservoir blocks the gas and liquid flow paths, affecting the normal production of gas wells. The analysis of scale samples shows that the scale compositions in the Hechuan gas field are complex, which are composed of calcium carbonate, calcium sulfate, barium sulfate, iron salt, silicate, and other inorganic scales. To dissolve these scales, 14 kinds of laboratory self-made chelating acids named AST-01 to AST-14, sequentially, were evaluated by the descaling rate, in which the chelating acid AST-01 was selected with a dissolution rate of 77.7%. Meanwhile, the optimal concentration and reaction time of AST-01 were investigated, and the concentrations of the corrosion inhibitor, the iron ion stabilizer, and surfactants were also optimized. Then, a chelating acid descaling formula was obtained, which was 15~20% of AST-01 chelating acid + 1.5~2.0% of corrosion inhibitor + 2.5% of iron ion stabilizer + 0.3% of drainage aid. A pilot field trial of this descaling formula was applied in a Hechuan X1 well. A remarkable result was obtained in that the shut-in tubing pressure recovery rate was increased by 14 times, the gas production was increased by 10 times, and the gas well resumed to produce continuously again.

PurposeIn recent years, one of the most important and active research areas has been local food. This study aims to examine the evolution and trends of local food research in several disciplines or fields in the 50 years, highlighting emerging research themes, collaborations such as authors, institutions, journals and co-citations such as documents, authors and journals.Design/methodology/approachA total of 869 local food-related articles from the Web of Science (WoS) database from 1970 to 2020 were analyzed by several bibliometric analyses using CiteSpace II software.FindingsThe findings indicate that the number of studies in the local food field has increased rapidly and it is an interdisciplinary subject. Moreover, the results indicate that there is partly collaboration among authors, institutions or countries that conduct research on local food. For example, the most productive authors in this field are in USA, India, Brazil and European countries. Another remarkable result of this study is that tourism and hospitality discipline has focused on local food subject, especially in the last five years.Originality/valueThis is one of the first attempts by using network analysis to directly understand and visualize the interrelated structures of the local food research. Furthermore, the results of this study may provide researchers a reference guide to better evaluate and monitor local food research.

Surface plasmon (SP)—induced spectral hole burning (SHB) at the silver-dielectric interface is investigated theoretically. We notice a typical lamb dip at a selective frequency, which abruptly reduces the absorption spectrum of the surface plasmons polaritons (SPP). Introducing the spontaneous generated coherence (SGC) in the atomic medium, the slope of dispersion becomes normal. Additionally, slow SPP propagation is also noticed at the interface. The spectral hole burning dip is enhanced with the SGC effect and can be modified and controlled with the frequency and intensity of the driving fields. The SPP propagation length at the hole-burning region is greatly enhanced under the effect of SGC. A propagation length of the order of 600 µm is achieved for the modes, which is a remarkable result. The enhancement of plasmon hole burning under SGC will find significant applications in sensing technology, optical communication, optical tweezers and nano-photonics.

AbstractHemoglobinopathies though a monogenic disorder, show phenotypic variability. Hence, understanding the genetics underlying the heritable sub-phenotypes of hemoglobinopathies, specific to each population, would be prognostically useful and could inform personalized therapeutics. This study aimed to evaluate the role of genetic modifiers leading to higher HbF production with cumulative impact of the modifiers on disease severity. 200 patients (100 β-thalassemia homozygotes, 100 Sickle Cell Anemia), and 50 healthy controls were recruited. Primary screening followed with molecular analysis for confirming the β-hemoglobinopathy was performed. Co-existing α-thalassemia and the polymorphisms located in 3 genetic loci linked to HbF regulation were screened. The most remarkable result was the association of SNPs with clinically relevant phenotypic groups. The γ-globin gene promoter polymorphisms [− 158 C → T, + 25 G → A],BCL11A rs1427407 G → T, − 3 bp HBS1L-MYB rs66650371 and rs9399137 T → C polymorphisms were correlated with higher HbF, in group that has lower disease severity score (P < 0.00001), milder clinical presentation, and a significant delay in the age of the first transfusion. Our study emphasizes the complex genetic interactions underlying the disease phenotype that may be a prognostic marker for predicting the clinical severity and assist in disease management.

Abstract We develop a systematic approach to compute the subsystem trace distances and relative entropies for subsystem reduced density matrices associated to excited states in different symmetry sectors of a 1+1 dimensional conformal field theory having an internal U(1) symmetry. We provide analytic expressions for the charged moments corresponding to the resolution of both relative entropies and distances for general integer n. For the relative entropies, these formulas are manageable and the analytic continuation to n = 1 can be worked out in most of the cases. Conversely, for the distances the corresponding charged moments become soon untreatable as n increases. A remarkable result is that relative entropies and distances are the same for all symmetry sectors, i.e. they satisfy entanglement equipartition, like the entropies. Moreover, we exploit the OPE expansion of composite twist fields, to provide very general results when the subsystem is a single interval much smaller than the total system. We focus on the massless compact boson and our results are tested against exact numerical calculations in the XX spin chain.

AbstractLarvae of most bee species consume individual provision masses composed of pollen mixed with nectar. For simple metabolic reasons, mature larvae should weigh less than their consumed provision. However, past research reported a remarkable result: mature larvae of three ground-nesting halictid bees weighed 60% more than their original provision masses. This surprising paradox could result from the expected hygroscopic nature of nectar. Sugar solutions absorb water vapor at rates defined by their osmolarity and ambient humidity. Our experiments tested this hypothesis, showing that larval provisions of a ground-nesting bee, Nomia melanderi, are strongly hygroscopic. They consequently absorbed substantial water vapor from this bee’s preferred nesting soil. Mature larvae weighed 65% more than their original provision because hygroscopy had greatly augmented available dietary water. Liquid accumulating around isolated provisions was a sweet nutritious broth that included amino acids leached from the pollen. Hygroscopy was most intense during the egg and early larval stages. However, provision liquefaction (and possible drowning) was partly offset by rapid hydration of cached pollen, whose weight could double after absorbing free water. Larval provisions of two cavity-nesting Osmia species also readily absorbed water vapor from a soil atmosphere. However, at humidities measured within tunnels of their natural deadwood nesting substrates, they gained little weight via hygroscopy. Consequently, their mature larvae weighed less, not more, than the provision that they ate. These new insights explain some nesting traits shared by many ground-nesting bees, such as why females do not waterproof the earthen cell caps of their nest cells, or why many colletids cache liquid provisions. Progressive hygroscopy and resulting sugar dilution may also mediate succession of microbial mutualists and pathogens in provision masses of ground-nesting bees.

In this paper Modified gravity is studied over the weak field linearized metric perturbation in post-Minkowskian theory. This is a different aspect for studying the two body dynamics or binary system. Here despite of usual self force originated from the radiative backscattering of gravitational waves we are considering new paradigm of perturbation that is multiplicative approach. The new perturbed metric is determined over the multiplication of isolated background metric of curved space-time for two different massive sources in post-Newtonian theory. To verify the model and the theoretical result the binary system of Milky Way central super massive black hole to Sun is considered. The computation shows remarkable result without MOND for galactic flat rotation curve and solar rotational speed 249km/sec, obviously very good agreement with recent observed data.

Objectives: To describe the Fracture Liaison Service (FLS), to know the characteristics of the patients attended with emphasis on sex differences, and to know the compliance of International Osteoporosis Foundation (IOF) quality standards. Methods: Observational, prospective research. All the consecutive patients that attended in usual clinical practice from May 2018 to October 2019, were over 50 years, and with a fragility fracture (FF), were included. Results: Our FLS is a type A multidisciplinary unit. We included 410 patients, 80% women. FF recorded in 328 women were: Hip (132, 40%), Clinical Vertebral (81, 25%) and No hip No vertebral (115, 35%). Those in 82 men were: Hip (53, 66%), Clinical Vertebral (20, 24%) and No hip No vertebral (9, 10%), p = 0.0001. Men had more secondary osteoporosis (OP). The most remarkable result was the low percentage of patients with OP receiving treatment and the differences between sex. Forty-nine (16%) women versus nine (7%) men had received it at some point in their lives, p = 0.04. The probability of a man not receiving prior treatment was 2.5 (95%CI 1.01–6.51); p = 0.04, and after the FF was 0.64 (0.38–1.09). Treatment adherence in the first year after the FLS was 96% in both sexes. The completion of IOF quality standards was bad for patient identification and reference time. It was poor for initial OP screening standard and good for the remaining ten indicators. Conclusions: the FLS narrowed the gap in diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up of fragility fracture patients, especially men. The FLS meets the IOF quality standards.
