The influence of stress factors on the plant can lead to deterioration of plant functioning and loss of yield. The use of biological preparations based on plant cell elicitors in the technology of grain cultivation makes it possible to regulate the antioxidant activity of plants under abiotic stress. Treatment with the biopreparation Nigor++ in the tillering phase leads to noticeable changes in the balance of antioxidant substances in winter wheat plants Moskovskaya 39. Repeated treatment of Nigor++ after 16 days in the earing phase reduces AOA by 21.8, and by the flowering phase leads to a drop in this indicator by 51% relative to the tillering phase and by 59% relative to control plants. The use of Nigor++ increases the immune status of plants, reduces the concentration of antioxidant substances or reduces their activity due to the formation of stable complexes with magnesium ions included in BP, as well as binding them to highly active free radicals that occur during autoxidation, converting them to low-activity. Antioxidant compound can inhibit the oxidation of lipids and other biomolecules. The role of antioxidants is very important in neutralizing and destroying free radicals that can cause the damage to cells in the body. This research was carried out to design trolox derivate compounds as antioxidants using the QSAR method. The semi empirical AM1(Austin Model 1)method was used to generate the QSAR model. The statistical analysis result using multiple linier regression methods revealed thet antioxidant activity was influenced by the descriptors of qC1, qC4, qO7, qC13 and qO18. The QSAR equation model obtained was log IC50 = 0.821 + 7.067 (qC1) + 2.585 (qC4) + 4.812 (qO7) – 5.363 (qC13) – 0.887 (qO18) with the best predicted IC50 value was 4.699 µM.   Keywords: Antioxidants, QSAR, semi empirical AM1, trolox

ABSTRACT          Eucheuma and Sargassum sp. has studied for their potential as a raw material for health product such as functional beverage and food supplements. This study aims to the sensory, antioxidant activity and the fiber content of jelly drinks by using two types of seaweed at different concentrations. Sensory assessment method based on descriptive testing of 25 panelists, antioxidants were measured using the DPPH method, and fiber content were measured based on gravimetric methods. This study used a Randomized Complete Design (CRD) with four treatments of  Eucheuma spinosum and Sargassum sp. at consecutive concentrations %:0%  (E7S0), 6%:1% (E6S1), 5%:2% (E5S2), 4%:3% (E4S3).  Based on the results of the test, showed that the different concentrations of seaweed significantly affected the sensory value of appearance, taste, smell, color, and texture. The highest hedonic test was E7S0, specifications of the resulting jelly drink that has a bright appearance and clean, bright purple, slightly felt and smelled of seaweed and has a chewy texture, antioxidant values (IC50 value) and crude fiber content of  E7S0 were 1122.9 ppm and 0.33%.

Background: The mouth, like the rest of the gastrointestinal tract, is heavily colonized by bacteria. The gingival crevice between the teeth and the gums / gingivae offers a unique niche for colonization of bacteria. Gum disease or ‘periodontitis’ is largely attributed to a microbial etiology along with recent observations on the role of the host response.  Hence, periodontal therapy has traditionally focused on the reduction of the bacterial threat. This, however, disrupts the microbial ecological balance. Probiotics is a newer treatment approach that focuses on restoring the reduced numbers of beneficial bacteria.  Methods: The present study intended to evaluate the effect of probiotic capsule administration in 20 patients each with gingivitis and periodontitis. ‘Cases’ received probiotic capsule and oral prophylaxis while the remaining ten patients received only oral prophylaxis and served as ‘Controls’ in each of the gingivitis / periodontitis groups. Plaque, Bleeding and Gingival Indices, Pocket probing depth along with GCF samples for estimation of Myeloperoxide and Thiol antioxidants were recorded at baseline and one month after treatment.  Results: Improvement of clinical parameters as well as increase in GCF thiol and decreased myeloperoxidase concentrations was observed in the groups with probiotics.  Discussion: A greater reduction in plaque scores in the cases may be attributed to probiotic induced reduced microbial colonization. Probiotic species effectively reduce the level of inflammation associated molecules, such as prostaglandin E2 and interferon C and MMP activity. It may be plausible that by modulating these factors, probiotics can lead to improvement of the periodontal parameters.  Conclusion: Hence, probiotic supplementation along with scaling and root planing may be an effective adjunct for periodontal therapy.
