In this issue we demonstrated that the phospholipid content of Streptomyces lividans varies greatly with Pi availability being was much lower in Pi limitation than in Pi proficiency whereas that of Streptomyces coelicolor varied little with Pi availability. In contrast the content in phosphate free ornithine lipids was enhanced in both strains in condition of phosphate limitation. Ornithine lipids biosynthesis starts with the N-acylation of ornithine to form lyso-ornithine that is then O-acylated to yield ornithine lipid. The operon sco1222-23 was proposed to be involved in the conversion of specific amino acids into ornithine in condition of phosphate limitation whereas the sco0921-20 operon encoding N- and O-acyltransferase, respectively, was shown to be involved in the biosynthesis of these lipids. The expression of these two operons was shown to be under the positive control of the two components system PhoR/PhoP and thus induced in phosphate limitation. The expression of phoR/phoP being weak in S. coelicolor, the poor expression of these operons resulted into a fivefold lower ornithine lipids content in this strain compared to S. lividans. In the deletion mutant of the sco0921-20 operon of S. lividans, lyso-ornithine and ornithine lipids were barely detectable and TAG content was enhanced. The complementation of this mutant by the sco0921-20 operon or by sco0920 alone restored ornithine lipids and TAG content to wild type level and was correlated with a twofold increase in the cardiolipin content. This suggested that SCO0920 bears, besides its broad O-acyltransferase activity, an N-acyltransferase activity and this was confirmed by the detection of lyso-ornithine in this strain. In contrast, the complementation of the mutant by sco0921 alone had no impact on ornithine lipids, TAG nor cardiolipin content but was correlated with a high lyso-ornithine content. This confirmed that SCO0921 is a strict N-acyltransferase. However, interestingly, the over-expression of the sco0921-20 operon or of sco0921 alone in S. coelicolor, led to an almost total disappearance of phosphatidylinositol that was correlated with an enhanced DAG and TAG content. This suggested that SCO0921 also acts as a phospholipase C, degrading phosphatidylinositol to indirectly supply of phosphate in condition of phosphate limitation.

A man with a history of blind eye due to trauma 22 years earlier consulted at 53 years of age with a large conjunctival neoplastic lesion, compromising almost the entire temporal limbus, and reaching a size of approximately 16 mm on its larger diameter, in the conjunctiva. Management was started with topical and subconjunctival chemotherapy (interferon alpha-2b) in order to perform immunoreduction, but a dramatic response with total disappearance of the lesion was observed. In the follow-up time period of more than 7 years, there were no signs of recurrence.

Мы протестировали реакции нейронов ядра Дейтерса на двустороннюю высокочастотную стимуляцию паравентрикулярных и супраоптических ядер гипоталамуса (PVN & SON) в норме и после односторонней лабиринтэктомии (UL). Анализ спайковой активности проводился с помощью on-line выборки и специальной программы. Комплексные усредненные гистограммы времени и частоты перисобытий показывают усиление тормозных и возбуждающих реакций нейронов Дейтерса на ранней стадии вестибулярной компенсации после инъекции богатого пролином пептида (PRP-1) и яда кобры Naja Naja Oxiana (NOX), достигая норме по окончании испытаний. При гистохимическом исследовании обнаружено изменение активности Са2+-зависимой кислой фосфатазы (КФ) в нейронах. Было показано, что у UL животных полное исчезновение или задержка обесцвечивания нейронов Дейтерса приводит к нейродегенеративному паттерну в виде клеточного «оттенка». Активность КФ после UL и инъекции PRP-1 вызывает более эффективное восстановление нейронов по сравнению с событиями, наблюдаемыми после введения NOX. Наблюдения за поведением в «открытом поле» показывают, что PRP-1 и NOX являются протекторами, которые могут успешно восстанавливать нарушенные вестибулярные функции. / We tested the reactions of Deiters’ nucleus neurons to bilateral high frequency stimulation of hypothalamic paraventricualar and supraoptic nuclei (PVN & SON) in norm and following unilateral labyrinthectomy (UL). The analysis of spike activity was carried out by mean of on-line selection and special program. The complex averaged perievent time and frequency histograms shows the increase of inhibitory and excitatory reactions of Deiters’ neurons at early stage of vestibular compensation following proline-rich peptide (PRP-1) and cobra venom Naja Naja Oxiana (NOX) injection, reaching the norm at the end of tests. In histochemical study the changes in Ca2+-dependent acidic phosphatase (AP) activity in neurons was discovered. It was shown that in UL animals the total disappearance or delay of decolorizing of Deiters’ neurons lead to neurodegenerative pattern as cellular “shade”. AP activity after UL and PRP-1 injection exerts more effective recovery of neurons in comparison with events, observed after the administration of NOX. The behavioral observations in “open fieald” indicate that PRP-1 and NOX are protectors, which may successfully recover the disturbed vestibular functions.

Diagnosis of uterine fibroid was made on the basis of the following data: N.N., 29 years old, since the birth of her only child, who is now 10 years old, has never felt completely well. General weakness, dysmenorrhoea; pains for the period of regulation with each time increase; Months are becoming more and more abundant, both in quantity and in duration: in every period of the menstrual period, she spends from 50-70 napkins. At the first visit of the author, in July 1889, the patient walked from weakness with difficulty, complaining of constant pain in the lower abdomen. Upon examination, it was found that the pelvis was filled with a fibrous tumor of the uterus.

Chemsex is an escalating public health issue among men who have sex with men, with potentially severe somatic and psychiatric consequences. Given the limited knowledge and lack of treatment recommendations available in this area, we proposed the use of noninvasive brain stimulation in order to reduce problematic chemsex behavior. This is the first openlabel case report of a positive effect of transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) in a patient who was complaining of severe chemsex addiction. Total disappearance of chemsex behavior occurred after 5 days of daily sessions of right prefrontal cortex stimulation and did not return after 8 months of follow-up. The strengthening of dorsolateral prefrontal cortex activity may have modulated limbic pathways and reduced incentive salience and craving of both sexual addiction and concomitant illicit drug use.

Diffuse alveolar hemorrhage (DAH) is an acute often life-threatening condition characterized by a variable combination of hemoptysis, dyspnoea, diffuse and bilateral ground glass pulmonary opacities, anemia and hypoxemia, that can be induced by different causes, including several drugs. We report here the case of a 25-year-old woman who has been admitted to our pulmonary clinic for the onset of chest pain, cough and haemoptysis, started one week after her first treatment with alemtuzumab for multiple sclerosis. Computed tomography (CT) scan of the chest at the admission showed diffuse and bilateral ground glass pulmonary opacities. Her symptoms resolved completely without any treatment, after the interruption of alemtuzumab, and CT scan of the chest performed one month later showed total disappearance of the pulmonary opacities.

Abstract Addition of alkaline compounds at harvest may affect in vitro digestion and ergot alkaloid concentrations in endophyte-infected tall fescue silage. Silage (n = 60; 10 replications/treatment) was produced by filling vacuum-sealing plastic bags (35.5 cm by 27.9 cm) with 150 g of K31 tall fescue (DM basis; forage DM=76.9%; 96% endophyte infection rate) harvested in June. Alkalizing agents (CaO and NaOH) were solubilized in water (20% inclusion; wt/wt basis) and added to the forage at inclusion rates of 0%, 1%, 2%, 3%, 4%, and 5% on a dry matter basis. After ensiling for 42 d, forage samples were lyophilized and subsampled for proximate analysis and analysis of ergot alkaloids. A separate subsample was taken for in vitro total disappearance determination, and each sample was replicated in triplicate. Forage quality and digestibility values were calculated on an organic matter basis because organic matter linearly decreased (P < 0.01) as alkali increased. Alkali increased pH linearly (P < 0.01). Forage NDF decreased linearly (P < 0.01) as greater amounts of alkali treatment were included. Crude protein did not differ (P = 0.41) among treatments. In vitro total disappearance (OM basis) increased linearly (P < 0.01) as inclusion of alkali increased. Total ergot alkaloid concentration did not differ (P = 0.62) across treatments. Ergovaline concentration increased linearly (P < 0.01) with increasing alkali inclusion, but remained below established threshold for toxicity in ruminants. Lactic acid concentration responded quadratically (P < 0.01) with the lowest value corresponding to 3% alkali treatment. Acetic acid concentration increased quadratically (P < 0.01) with the highest value occurring during the 1% alkali inclusion. Propionic acid concentration increased linearly (P = 0.02) as alkali inclusion increased. A quadratic effect (P < 0.01) was observed for butyric acid concentration, with a decrease in butyrate above 1% alkali inclusion. Under conditions of this experiment, addition of alkalizing agents increased digestibility of baled tall fescue silage.

THE “ESCAPE THEATRE” OF GASTON BATY OR HOW TO OVERCOME SECULARITY In this article, we study the works of French playwrights from the 1920s and 1930s who adhere to Gaston Baty’s theatrical aesthetics, without explicitly declaring themselves as believers. While remaining wary of dogmas symbolized by the Church, writers such as Henri-René Lenormand, Simon Gantillon and Jean-Victor Pellerin note the loss of transcendence that inevitably leads “modern man” to his downfall. The rejection of the teaching of institutionalized religion does not mean a total disappearance of the sacred in their texts. In the face of demonic civilization, dramatic authors make a somewhat pessimistic diagnosis in search of remedies likely to fill the “ontological vacuum.” Undoubtedly, according to these writers, drama is the place where expectations and religious disappointments that agitate this tormented generation of the interwar period crystallize.

The planktonic organisms are characterized by their strong capacity of reproduction as well as a high death rate. The factors that intervene simultaneously and result in the seasonal succession and change in the planktonic community are not well studied, especially in Middle East fresh water bodies. Stratification, nutrients, oxygen and light intensity can lead to an increase in phytoplankton and cyanobacteria biomass. In this study, we monitor the interaction between zooplankton and cyanobacteria in Karaoun Reservoir, the largest freshwater body in Lebanon. Karaoun Reservoir has gone through a degradation of its water quality and eutrophication with a very low phytoplankton biodiversity and a dominance of two toxic cyanobacteria species (Microcystis aeruginosa and Aphanizomenon ovalisporum) forming a thick bloom that persisted during the years 2016 and 2017. This spring bloom assured the development of small cladoceran, rotifers that were replaced progressively by big cladoceran such as Daphnia and by copepods Calanoides. Having strongly contributed to the exhaustion of their food resources and being equally submitted to a strong predation from the zooplankton feeding fish such as the carps, the zooplanktonic species decrease gradually till their total disappearance at the beginning of summer. The lake's zooplankton does not proliferate until the end of spring and disappears completely after. The environment rich in cyanotoxins does not seem to be responsible for this decrease. This was attributed to the grazing by Cyprinus carpio. The cycle of these species pass through a period of spring reproduction which allows the zooplankton to develop without being reduced by these fish species.


Introduction: The treatment of telangiectasias represents a main place of demand of aesthetic legs. The spider veins localized on lower limbs, in relation with pathology of the venous tissue, raises mainly a problem of cosmetic order. These fi ne dilations of the superficial venous network are not still of easy achievement and the results are sometimes uncertain, connected to the quality of the operator and also to the requirement of the patient. The radio frequency uses a current of the order of 4 MHz and offer on these small vessels of the interesting therapeutic perspectives. The aim of this prospective study is to measure efficiencies of radio frequency in only one session treatment. Methods: 30 patients, 25 at 63 old aged, present lower limbs reticular veins and telangiectasias. The CEAP classification is C1 A SE p As 1, pn. The Fitzpatrick photo type is 1 at 4. 8 treatment areas are identified. 250 impulsions by session are useful used. Patients are visited at 15 D and 60 D. We observed the efficiency of the radio frequency after a single session on telangiectasias of small diameters, following the treated area. Results: We consider positive results a total disappearance of vessel. One treatment session is necessary to treat some areas like ankles, feet (85% of positive outcomes) legs is also a good indication for 75% positive results. One the other hand, knee and thigh area is more resistant. It has 30% good results. Conclusion: Knowing that a number of high sessions are oft en necessary with the micro sclerotherapy the classic treatment of telangiectasias, to obtain satisfactory results. The obtained results are very encouraging
