STMIK Jakarta STI&K is a computer campus in Indonesia. This campus has not optimally used online learning media. Electronic lecture is an online lecture medium, which allows students and lecturers to carry out lecture activities without having to meet physically. The current pandemic period requires academic activities to be carried out online. This electronic lecture media is widely available to be adopted to build an online lecture system in an institution. E-Learning Efront is an example of a system that can be used. Research on the inline lecture system can produce a system tailored to the needs applied at the STMIK Jakarta STI&K campus. The electronic lecture system using eFront can be changed according to user needs. To get good results from system development requires a good development stage according to the existing method. Development starts from planning until a good system implementation. One of the steps that can be done is to hold training and trials to measure the ability and understanding of system users. The evaluation stage is carried out by measuring and analyzing users interacting with the system. The e-learning implementation plan begins with the first preparation, then the resources are ready and the services and system infrastructure are available. Based on the results of the evaluation, decisions can be made regarding the application of e-learning at the STMIK Jakarta STI&K campus. The results of the implementation that have been carried out, it is found that the online lecture system is needed as an alternative in the use of information technology in the process of academic activities.

This study aims to determine the extent to which the online lecture method due to the pandemic condition is effective in learning. The sample in this study was the Fath Sukawangi Islamic boarding school, Bogor, with a total of 70 respondents. The technique used in this research is descriptive quantitative through observation, interviews, direct field observations, and documentation. This study found two supporting factors, firstly, the availability of massive and easy-to-reach online facilities, both in the form of networks and the necessary tools such as computers and mobile phones. Second, the availability of information facilities on how to use and operate these facilities, either through the website or technical instructions distributed through many media, including Youtube. From the results of the study, it can be concluded that the lecture method in learning is still very strong in influence. This can be seen from the behavior of students who get better after participating in learning even though they are only listening to lectures online.

Abstrak

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui sejauh mana metode ceramah yang dilakukan secara online karena kondisi pandemik termasuk efektif dalam pembelajaran. Abstract: During the Covid-19 pandemic in Indonesia, all communication activities have been carried out mostly through CMC, including online learning that students must experience. This situation brings big changes in the communication process between lecturers and students and vice versa. This paper aims to see how interpersonal communication changes in the online lecture process and what elements of interpersonal communication are lost with technology in online learning. The data collection method in this study was to conduct Focus Group Discussions on Sociology students at the Universitas Negeri Malang. 6 students were involved in the FGD with the criteria for students above the 2019 class who had experienced face-to-face and online lectures. Primary data was obtained through active observation of Sociology Department lecturers. This study indicates that many dimensions of interpersonal communication are missing in online lectures, such as the loss of empathy between students due to the absence of face-to-face communication and miss communication in online lectures, which causes interpersonal communication not to work effectively. Furthermore, Interpersonal communication cannot be established properly if the lecturer does not have high technological skills. It can then affect the spirit of student learning in online lectures. Keywords: higher education, ICT skills, interpersonal communication, online learning

During the Covid-19 pandemic, universities adopted several learning modes to ensure the contention of the education activities. They adopted many methods of learning such as online once (online real-time with no recorded lecture; face-to-screen instead of face-to-face), online repeatable (online real-time with recorded lecture), Self (pre-recorded lecture only), and blended (pre-recorded lecture with face-to-face learning). Since all these methods are adopted without any evidence of their acceptance by the students, the rouse of this study is to evaluate each of these modes and identify the most preferred mode of learn-ing. Also, this study tested the new method of blended learning preferred by the students. A questionnaire was shared among the students in two faculties in the University of Kelaniya Sri Lanka, and 903 were responded. Accordingly, this study found that the majority of the students preferred online real-time lectures together with the recorded lectures. This method was again tested with a selected student group and confirmed. Thus, this study recommends face-to screen lectures together with the recorded lesson is the most appropriate method to adopt during the new normal context.
