High dilutions (HDs) of drugs, used in Homeopathy, are prepared in aqueous EtOH (ethanol) through serial dilution accompanying mechanical agitation or succussion, and are called potencies. The potencies from the rank 12 onwards are too dilute to contain any original drug molecules. Do the potency ranks show any difference from each other? Do serial dilution and succussion contribute to the difference in potency ranks? This study aims to address these two questions. The throat swab of a Covid-19 patient was preserved and diluted with aqueous EtOH 90% to prepare the mother tincture (MT) and five different potencies of Covid named Covidinum. These potencies and their solvent media were analysed by electronic and vibrational spectroscopy. Charge transfer (CT) and proton transfer interactions occur during preparation of the potencies. The FT-IR spectra of all the test samples after normalization show difference from each other with respect to O-H stretching and bending (v2) bands. Serial dilution and succussion contribute to the observed difference in ranks and CT interactions.

Aveloz (firestick cactus; Euphorbia tirucalli L.) belongs to Euphorbiaceae family, characterized by the production of a toxic latex that has corrosive effects on the skin and mucous membranes. Continual topic use of the latex is recommended by popular medicine to treat warts, and epitheliomas. To validate this indication, ultra diluted latex and homeopathic medicine Euphorbia tirucalli were tested in vitro on the proliferation of melanoma cells. Ultra diluted latex was prepared in homeopathic dilutions 5cH, 15cH and 30cH by dilution and agitation (trituration for solid and sucussion for liquid phases) using 70º GL (Gay Lussac) ethylic alcohol (70º GL EtOH 70ºGL) as inert medium according to the guidelines in Farmacopéia Homeopática Brasileira (FHB). Homeopathic medicine Euphorbia tirucalli was prepared from mother-tincture according to the centesimal Hahnemannian method. Solutions 0.5% and 5% of 70ºGL EtOH were succussed and used as control. Human melanoma cells were cultured, treated and monitored by method MTT for 24 to 72 hours. It was observed that 0.5% 70ºGL EtOH solution had little or no effect on the proliferation of melanoma cells (5.1% maximal inhibition in dilution 30cH). Positive correlation was observed in most groups between inhibition of proliferation and diluted preparations, maximal increase (9%) was seen in with 5% latex. Moreover, mother-tincture proved to be more active than latex; treatment with 0.5% solution of latex 30cH exhibited 19.7% inhibition, whereas treatment with 0.5% solution of Euphorbia tirucalli 30cH exhibited 32.1% inhibition of cell proliferation (p

Introduction: In science homeopathic diseases or physiological disorders are not considered just a result of abiotic and biotic factors, but rather a consequence of loss of organic system homeostasis. Homeopathic science is currently being used efficiently in the control of plagues[1], plant diseases[2], in the increase of medicinal plants’ active principles[3] and in plant metabolism[4,5]. Although actual results, both in the academic and field-level, very little is known about physiological mechanisms action of homeopathic medicine on germination process[6]. This work aims to study the effect of M. pubescens hydrogel, on some physiological variables of sorghum germination (Sorghum bicolor L. Moench). Material and methods: The experiment was conducted at Homeopathy and Plant Physiology of Biology Department at UEM in the period from 04/05/06 to 30/12/06. M. pubescens (tingui) seeds were obtained from the region of Montes Claros - Minas Gerais. The M. pubescens hidrogel was obtained from the external centrals wrappers of 4 dry seeds, after they have been disposed in petri dishes with distilled water for a period of 36 hours of soaking (25oC). The hydrogel mother tincture was prepared according to Manual of Technical Standards for Homeopathic Drugstore[7] 3rd ed (2003), in the proportion of a hidrogel part (5g) to ten parts (50g) of absolute alcohol 70% and stored in a glass amber (capped and protected from light). After 15 days of maceration, the solution was filtered and after 48h at rest, the mother tincture was considered ready for use. The dilution 1cH (Centesimal Hahnemannian) was obtained by adding 0.2 ml of the mother tincture in 19.8 ml of distilled water (1/100) and sucussioned 100 times (33 sucussions s-1) by mechanical arm dynamizer with automatic stop (Model Denise 50 - AUTIC). The subsequent dilutions (2cH to 30cH) were obtained from the same procedure, starting from the dilution 1cH. Bioassay: In petri dish containing 15 seeds of sorghum in a circular distributed were added 10 ml with their dilutions (3, 6, 9, 12, 15, 20 and 30cH) and the control containing distilled water. The petri dishes were placed in a growth chamber (type BOD), temperature of (25 ± 2)°C and photoperiod of 16h. The variables were analyzed by germination period of 73.5h as described below: · Germination (%G): %G = (∑ni.N-1)x100 , where ∑ni, is the total number of germinated seeds in relation to the number of seeds put to germinate, expressed in percentage; · Germination average time (GAT): GAT = ∑ni . ti / ∑ni , where ni is the number of germinated seeds within a certain interval of time ti-1 and ti; expressed in hours. · Germination average speed (GAS), expressed in hours): GAS = ∑ni / ∑ni . ti · Germination speed index (GSI): IVG = G1 / N1 + G2 / N2 + ........ Gn / Nn , where G1, G2....Gn is the number of germinated seeds and N1, N2, ... Nn is the number of hours after sowing. The total number of germinated seeds, at each time (12h) was also analyzed. Seeds were considered germinated when the radicle had 1 to 2 mm of lengths. Experimental design: The experimental design was randomized block with 4 replications, totaling 32 experimental units. It was adopted the double-blind methodology, to avoid possible interference or direction by the researcher. Statistical Analysis: The data were analyzed by ANOVA and the averages compared by Scott-Knott test (p≤0.05). The twinning combined data were analyzed for interaction germination x time (G x T) by F test to 5% of probability. Results and discussion: The homeopathy of Magonia pubescens hydrogel affected on the germination kinetic variables of sorghum seeds, when compared with the control (Fig. 1). This effect was most observed in the initial process of germination (from 13h). Research accomplished by Salgado-Labouriau (1973) [8] showed that the hydrogel formed from the external wrapper Magonia pubescens seeds, does not contain inhibiting, but contains factors that accelerate the germination process. Apparently, these results seem contradictory. However, for the homoeopathic optics, some used medicines in a considered way might have determined effect. Already in high diluted doses this behavior can be reversed, as it happens with some drugs. This behavior in pharmacokinetics is denomined Hormesis. When diluted and given dynamism, the product of hydrogel, instead of stimulating, it can delay the germination for the same phenomenon. Hormesis is not yet explained by science. Homeopathy of the Magonia pubescens gel significantly increased the germination average time (GAT) of sorghum seeds and reduced the germination average speed (GAS) and the germination speed index (GSI) (Fig. 2A, B and C). The values of these variables suggest that homeopathy, somehow slowed the speed of sorghum seeds soaking. Conclusion: The results here presented suggest that high dilutions of Magonia pubescens hidrogel can be used in future experiment such as bioherbicide.

The radish is a short cycle crop, since it is harvested at 25-30 days after direct sowing. Under the economic point of view it is an important species, but there are few studies on germination of radish seeds. The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of high diluted substances on the germination of radish seeds. The trial was conducted at the Agricultural Research Institute of Paraná (IAPAR) in Londrina / Paraná. It was used a pesticide free cultivar named Cometa. The treatments were: Bryonia, hydroalcoholic solution, Arnica montana, Cina and Lupine + Oat, all of them diluted and agitated at 9x; distilled water and agitated distilled water were used as controls. The mother tincture of Lupine + Oat was prepared from plants collected at the experimental station of IAPAR in Londrina. The mother tincture and all treatments were prepared according to the guidelines in the Brazilian Homeopathic Pharmacopeia, Part I [1]. The agitations of the treatments were made by a mechanical equipment, model Denise 10-50 manufactured by Autic. The water was distilled the day before preparing the treatments. The experiment was performed with 300 seeds per treatment. The seeds were placed in gerbox with germitest paper, and 50 gerbox were used per treatment, with six seeds in each gerbox. The germitest papers were moistened with the treatments and the seeds were soaked for 2 hours previously set up the experiment. The substances in high dilutions were agitated 100 times on the machine before soaking the seeds and moistening the germitest paper. The experimental design was entirely randomized and the gerbox were kept at the bench at the Laboratory of Plant Protection of IAPAR. A person not involved in conduct of the experiment coded (blinded) the treatments solutions with a random letter code. The code was kept secret until all measurements and data processing were finished. Seeds were observed daily for germination and counted only those considered germinated. Seeds were considered germinated when the radicle was at least two millimeters length. Arnica montana 9x increased 5.9% the seed germination when compared with distilled water.

In vitro assessment of antimalarial drug susceptibility of Plasmodium has been a major research success, which has paved the way for the understanding of parasite and rapid screening of antimalarial drugs for their effectiveness. In the present study a preliminary screening to check the antiplasmodial activity of mother tincture (ϕ) and various potencies (6C, 30C, 200C) of homeopathic medicines Cinchona officinalis/china (Chin.), Chelidonium majus (Chel.) and Arsenicum album (Ars.) were done by assessing the in vitro schizont maturation inhibition assay. A significant reduction in the growth of intraerythrocytic stages of P. berghei was observed with decreasing dilution of ϕ and various potencies of Chin., Chel. and Ars. exhibiting a dose dependent effect. Maximum schizont maturation inhibition was observed by Chin. ϕ (1:1), Chin. 30 (1:1, 1:2) and Chel. 30 (1:1) i.e. 80%. The standard drug CQ at 10 µM concentration exhibited 95.4±1.6% inhibition of schizont maturation. Ars. 30 (1:1) also have been found to possess strong antiplasmodial efficacy with 75.5±2.6% schizont inhibition. The presence of free merozoites in Ars. 200 with weak schizonticidal inhibition activity (40-45%) also pointed towards the ability of parasite to survive in the given drug pressure.

Introduction: The infection by Trypanosoma cruzi is a public health problem and there is no effective treatment currently. Immunomodulatory effects of Atropa belladonna may offer benefits1 Objective: To evaluate the effect of A. belladonna in murine infection by T. cruzi. Methodology: The experiment was blind, controlled and randomized by draw. Eighty five Swiss male mice, at 8 weeks of age, were infected with 1400 blood trypomastigotes of T. cruzi Y strain (via IP) and divided into the following groups: without treatment (CI), treated with the mother tincture of A. belladonna (GTM-HN Cristiano), treated with A. belladonna 5cH (G5cH), treated with A. belladonna 6cH (G6cH), treated with A. belladonna 30cH (G30cH). Cereal alcohol 70 ° GL was used for dilutions as well as water in final preparations (Sigma-SP-Brazil). Oral treatment, diluted with water (1mL/100mL water), offered ad libitum 48 hours before infection, available during 16h. After infection, treatment of 56/56h for 16h, until the 9th day of infection2. Parasitological parameters: Curve of parasitemia, total parasitemia (PT), Maximum Peak of Parasites (PMP), Pre-Patent Period (PPP), Patent Period (PP), and Survival. Clinical parameters: water, food, excreta, weight and temperature. Results: G6cH and G30cH groups displayed better survival rates (1.54 and 1.42 times versus IC), and higher curve of parasitemia - G6cH (p = 0.00), G30cH (p = 0.02) – when compared to CI. PMP was lower in GTM (P = 0.01) and G5cH (p = 0.04) groups; PT was lower in GTM (p = 0.01), G5cH (p = 0.05) and G6cH (p = 0.05) groups when compared to CI. There was no difference in PPP and PP parameters in all groups, with a tendency of a higher PPP in G5cH and G6cH groups and lower PPP in G30cHgroup.The mice weight was higher in GTM (

Background: Around 12% of world population has been infected by renal stone disease which has multiphase etiological factors with high recurrence rate. Thus, in order to reduce the recurrence rate, use of homoeopathic intervention can be the most effective alternative option and Sarsaparilla is one of the frequently prescribed medicines by homoeopath in renal stones. Aim: To nd out the inhibitory action of homoeopathic medicine Sarsaparilla Q, 6C, 12C, 30C, 200C, 1M on calcium oxalate and calcium phosphate crystallization by in vitro study. Methodology: In vitro crystallisation of calcium oxalate and calcium phosphate was carried out to evaluate effectiveness of Homoeopathic Medicine Sarsaparilla as an inhibitor. Calcium Oxalate crystallisation assay was experimented by using JASCO-UV/VISIBLE-630 Spectrophotometer. Slope of Nucleation and Aggregation phases is calculated using linear regression analysis and percentage of inhibition was calculated. Calcium phosphate crystallisation inhibition by Sarsaparilla was calculated by measuring concentration of calcium and phosphate ions, using Digital Photo colorimeter by Trinder and Gomeri method respectively. Antioxidant activity of Sarsaparilla Mother Tincture and potencies was measured by DPPH free radical scavenging assay by spectrophotometer. Result: Maximum inhibition of calcium oxalate crystallisation has been noticed in Sarsaparilla Mother Tincture and 1M potency. While Sarsaparilla 30C showing maximum inhibition of Calcium Phosphate crystallisation. Sarsaparilla mother tincture was able to decolorize during DPPH assay in which Inhibition % was decreased as potency increased (Q>30C>1M). Conclusion: The present in vitro study has shown potential role of Homoeopathic medicine Sarsaparilla as an inhibitor of calcium oxalate and calcium phosphate crystallisation.

Abstract Background: Even though water is regarded as something long understood and explained by conventional science – many open-minded researchers know that it still hides many mysteries (water clusters, coherent domains, so-called memory, etc.). Many of these mysteries come to fore in ultra-high dilution (UHD) experiments and practices, where usually not even one molecule of the originating substances is left. Mostly, they can be tackled only by using the droplet evaporation method (DEM).1 Aim: One of the hypotheses of water memory suggests that through UHD (dilutions, shaking) the field of a substance is stably impressed into water. If this is true than we should be able to imprint also a field itself - not originating from a certain substance, but from other sources. Such imprint should be revealed by an appropriate research method. Method: The DEM consists of monitoring dried water drops by dark field microscopy. It was discovered in the previous century by Ruth Kübler, a German artist, and further developed by Bernd-Helmut Kröplin, Minnie Hein, Berthold Heusel M. A. and Georg Schröcker. It has also been used to research the still controversial special characteristics of ultra-high diluted aqueous solutions.2 It has been proved capable of demonstrating differences in subtle influences of an UHD (around 10-47 M, practically “pure” water) of As2O3 on common wheat seeds. This method is therefore, capable of transferring certain, not yet fully understood or generally accepted subtle physical characteristicsof the solution to the remnant patterns after drop evaporation.3, 4 We used DEM to evaluate experiments on impressing the subtle field of five bioenergy healers and two so called “informed” objects (a glass and an “energy” card) into mineral or spring water with well-known characteristics. In all these experiments we also used control water that was of the same origin, but placed in a separate room. The DEM images were analyzed by special computer programs and statistically evaluated. No mother tincture of any kind was used. Results: The results demonstrate that even such subtle fields can leave stable and reproducible imprints in water - made visually accessible by the remnant patterns after drop evaporation. The irradiated water samples were statistically different from the control. This difference can usually be observed even by a naked eye. Conclusion These results have several implications. They confirm as follows: a) water memory – the main background of UHD effects, b) the possibility to imprint the fields into water, c) the existence of subtle fields not yet generally recognized by physical community and d) the capability of DEM to express the imprints.
