The purpose of this study was to explore the competence and understand the principal's strategy in improving the quality of teacher competence at SMA Islam As Sakinah Sidoarjo, the obstacles faced by the principal in improving the quality of teachers, as well as the principal's strategy in overcoming the obstacles which appear in efforts to improve the quality of teachers at SMA Islam As Sakinah Sidoarjo. This study uses a qualitative method with a phenomenological approach. The research subjects were determined purposively, they are the principal and teachers of SMA Islam As Sakinah Sidoarjo. Observation, interview and documentation are data collection techniques. Reduction data, display data, and conclusion are the steps of data analysis. To check the validity of the data using source triangulation and discussion with the supervising lecturer. The results of the study prove that the principal's strategies in improving the quality of teacher competence at SMA Islam As Sakinah Sidoarjo are: (1) further study of the S.2 professional degree, (2) activating teachers in increasing competence, (3) providing motivation, (4) maximizing the function of the school library, (5) conducting periodic supervision and (6) providing welfare benefits. The obstacles faced by principals in implementing strategies to improve the quality of teacher competence at SMA Islam As Sakinah Sidoarjo are the lack of interest and awareness of teachers, insight into thinking which still tends to be exclusive, lack of teacher supervision activities and several other external factors. While the solutions to overcome the obstacles which appear include providing motivation and good treatment, involving teachers in scientific activities and increasing the implementation of teacher supervision.

Deep neural networks have achieved state-of-the-art performance in image classification. Due to this success, deep learning is now also being applied to other data modalities such as multispectral images, lidar and radar data. However, successfully training a deep neural network requires a large reddataset. Therefore, transitioning to a new sensor modality (e.g., from regular camera images to multispectral camera images) might result in a drop in performance, due to the limited availability of data in the new modality. This might hinder the adoption rate and time to market for new sensor technologies. In this paper, we present an approach to leverage the knowledge of a teacher network, that was trained using the original data modality, to improve the performance of a student network on a new data modality: a technique known in literature as knowledge distillation. By applying knowledge distillation to the problem of sensor transition, we can greatly speed up this process. We validate this approach using a multimodal version of the MNIST dataset. Especially when little data is available in the new modality (i.e., 10 images), training with additional teacher supervision results in increased performance, with the student network scoring a test set accuracy of 0.77, compared to an accuracy of 0.37 for the baseline. We also explore two extensions to the default method of knowledge distillation, which we evaluate on a multimodal version of the CIFAR-10 dataset: an annealing scheme for the hyperparameter α and selective knowledge distillation. Of these two, the first yields the best results. Choosing the optimal annealing scheme results in an increase in test set accuracy of 6%. Finally, we apply our method to the real-world use case of skin lesion classification.

The assessment method used in this research is a qualitative approach. Data collection techniques used in this study were observation, interviews and FGD with ten informants, namely the Head of Muhammadiyah Middle School in Sidoarjo. The data analysis technique uses three steps in collecting research results, namely data reduction (data reduction), data presentation (data display), and drawing and testing conclusions or verification. The results of this study are as follows: The school anticipates students who do not have Learning From Home (BDR) support facilities, limited internet access and financial constraints by setting up tabs provided at school, these tabs can be used by students to do assignments. The strategies applied are very diverse, including: Allocating teacher supervision funds for other needs, providing motivation and stimulus so that teachers can deliver learning optimally, collaborating with filmmakers to make learning videos, holding MSG (Morning Spiritual Gathering) activities or referred to as Ngaji, Briefing, and Berinfaq, while also seeking donations for students to pay tuition fees. Implementation of short-term and long-term plans: looking for a learning format that can be maximized, trying to foster parental trust in the school, trying to build communication with students and parents through activities that support education, collaborating with parents so as to foster an understanding that shared responsibility, focus on learning that is important for students' self-development, and improve the technological capabilities of students and teachers to be able to innovate in each other's learning.

This study aimed to analyze the implementation of classroom visit supervision to improve teacher performance at SD Negeri Krooy, Kaimana Regency, West Papua Province. This research is qualitative research using the descriptive method. The informants are the principal, teacher supervisor. To obtain data, in-depth interviews, participatory observations, and documentation studies were conducted. The research instrument used was an observation interview guide and a documentation checklist. The results of this study are: 1) The principal prepares the program, and determines the schedule for the implementation of supervision through class visits by informing, the principal prepares administration, and prepares mastery materials; 2) Supervision of class visits without prior notification, supervisors suddenly come to class and check the lesson plans, and syllabus; 3) Implementation of class visit supervision at the invitation of the teacher, the principal fulfills the invitation of the teacher supervision teacher by checking the lesson plans, and syllabus; 4) Implementation of the supervision of the principal's class visits to overcome the obstacles of lack of confidence, lack of scientific spirit, weak creativity, and lack of facilities; and 5) The impact can improve the quality of teacher performance, increase the effectiveness of the curriculum, increase the effectiveness and efficiency of facilities and infrastructure, improve the quality of school management. Mid-March 2020, Indonesia began to be hit by the COVID-19 pandemic, which forced the government to set up online learning. The purpose of this study was to find out how effectiveness online learning was applied by Mandarin language educators at the junior high school level at Methodist Charles Wesley. Analysis of the data used is data analysis Miles and Huberman. The results of this study are: (1)Educators and students have adequate facilities in online learning. (2)Online learning has flexibility in its implementation. However, online learning has its own challenges, namely: weak internet signal, high internet costs and lack of teacher supervision of students. Keywords: Online Learning, Effectiveness, COVID-19.

Math word problems (MWPs) have been recently addressed with Seq2Seq models by `translating' math problems described in natural language to a mathematical expression, following a typical encoder-decoder structure. Although effective in solving classical math problems, these models fail when a subtle variation is applied to the word expression of a math problem, and leads to a remarkably different answer. We find the failure is because MWPs with different answers but similar math formula expression are encoded closely in the latent space. We thus designed a teacher module to make the MWP encoding vector match the correct solution and disaccord from the wrong solutions, which are manipulated from the correct solution. Experimental results on two benchmark MWPs datasets verified that our proposed solution outperforms the state-of-the-art models.

Teacher behaviors play a key role in forming and shaping organizational culture in schools. The current innovative and leadership-based learning objectives introduced by Education 4.0 have made the transformation obligatory from traditional classrooms of the industrial society to creation of digital classrooms. This transformation will embrace digital curriculum that might impact learning outcomes and reduce in-class management. How is it different from traditional classrooms? The spaces in a digital classroom are both digital and physical. This environment asks for future creative convergence talents, thus giving teachers new tasks to take greater ownership of change processes of their school culture. This shift also requires creation of reflective learning communities together with a redefinition of the meaning and scope of teacher supervision. This study introduces, a “Teacher Competency Development Model,” in which innovative learning opportunities for teachers in educational organizations toward Education 4.0 are offered through innovative models in teacher supervision based on cognitive, reflective, and peer coaching and their utilization within the educational contexts. Within this framework, the contents and strategies of three supervision models, namely, reflective, cognitive, and peer coaching to be able to help teachers survive and cope with their adaptation to Education 4.0 will be discussed.
