Technical innovation is an important means to achieve sustainable development. Industry-university cooperation is a new form of technological innovation. Most of the existing researches on industry-university cooperation focus on the analysis of industry-university cooperation models, but there are few researches on the examination of the relationship between industry-university cooperation and economic development. Using the spatial autocorrelation and spatial measurement model, the relationship between China’s industry-university cooperation and economic development was empirically investigated. The results indicate that, first, the nighttime light data could be used as a proxy variable for GDP data to characterize China’s economic development. Second, industry-university cooperation had a positive effect on China’s economic development. Third, industry-university cooperation affected China’s economic development through technological innovation.

Sustainable development has been a topic in the Finnish core curriculum for several years, but integrating this cross-cutting theme into a subject-based curriculum is perceived to be difficult. Hence, the city of Lappeenranta has developed its own educational model to support the development of pupils’ ecosocial attitudes and abilities. This study evaluates the implemented educational model by empirically examining the pupils’ perceptions of sustainability as well as studying differences between different groups of pupils. Analysis methods consisted of a combination of factor analysis, linear regression, and statistical tests for group differences. Young people were discovered to hold three different kinds of orientations to environmental issues and ecological sustainability. These were coupled with different perceptions of science, technology, and business in a way that indicates three different types of perceptions of a more holistic conception of sustainability. The significant differences in the sustainability-related perceptions between girls and boys as well as between pupils with different educational aspirations suggest that in the future, special attention needs to be paid to develop the educational model for better equity and inclusivity.

The goal of the article is to show the possibilities of development (improvements) of the business-university cooperation on from the point of view of enterprises. Authors are looking for a balance enabling agile cooperation between the entities (business needs vs university capabilities). In this article the conditions of the cooperation from the point of view of an enterprise were analyzed. Entrepreneurs point to the passive attitude of the universities regarding cooperation, the lack of openness to the business needs or inquiries and low communication. On the other hand, scientists point out the problem of not getting any offers from entrepreneurs [Trzmielak, Grzegorczyk 2014]. The pandemic caused by the virus SARS-CoV2 has shown the weaknesses of enterprises in many sectors. The most common difficulties are communication problems with stakeholders. Businesses are working very quickly on finding new solutions which will facilitate communication and improve the flow of documentation3 . Works using new technologies have significantly accelerated. The ongoing COVID-19 pandemic has definitely inspired the new generation of crisis communication [Sellnow, Seeger, 2021]. The crisis has forced the creation of new schemes which will be facilitate effective action. The chances of universities cooperating with businesses decreases with the available number of new solutions in the time of the communication crisis. Polish universities definitely miss the marketing orientation. According to businessmen the main barrier is the lack of offers and insufficient information flow. From the business point of view what is interesting is the experience of university employees in assessing the digitalisation of enterprises (Industry 4.0)4 . There is a chance for a development of such cooperation. Time and economic results become important business factors.

The purpose of our study was to propose the measures necessary to promote industry-academic cooperation by investigating and analyzing factors affecting its performance Recently, the Korean government increased the budget available for industry-academic cooperation to help nurture industrial talent and promote industry-academic cooperation. In our study, the results of industry-academic cooperation for 48 universities that carried out the 5-year LINC development project from 2012 to 2016 were analyzed via panel analysis to identify any factors affecting the performance. Our analysis revealed that the organizational capabilities of the university—including the number of dedicated professors, the number of projects assigned, and the financial support—had a significant effect on technical commercialization. In addition, we found that the moderating effect of allied companies on the relationship between the organizational capabilities of universities and their technical commercialization was significant. However, the results of our analysis differed depending on university location. Universities in and around the Capital region benefited from their organizational capabilities and cooperation with allied companies. Based on the results of the analysis, we conclude that it is necessary to consider a variety of factors, including efficient support of the industry-academic cooperation budget and practical application of industry-academic cooperation systems.
