Social media has turned into a standard, changed individual connections, enabled people to add to number of issues, and produced new potential outcomes and difficulties to encourage joint effort. Associations have dire need of not just concentrating on advancement of new items and administrations, yet additionally giving explicit consideration to viable learning sharing, which is of indispensable significance for their success. The potential favourable position of grasping and executing web-based social networking is tremendous. Despite the fact that the enthusiasm for internet-based life is expanding, from one perspective information specialists and administrators are hanging tight to get engaged with this synergistic world, since they may not feel motivated or may not know about the benefits of utilizing these devices for work purposes.

A consortium is an association of two or more individuals, companies, organizations or governments (or any combination of these entities) with the objective of participating in a common activity or pooling their resources for achieving a common goal. Library consortium gives the freedom for a library having a smaller collection to access any product at a nominal price. The chapter has shown that 58 (31.53%) assistant professors occasionally use it, followed by 44 (23.92%) respondents using it frequently, 39 (21.2%) respondents use it rarely, 26 (14.14%) respondents use it very frequently, and 17 (09.24%) respondents never use it.

In today's world, technology occupies center stage in national as well as international aspects. New technologies are employed for improvement in knowledge generation as well as sharing. Information and communication technology (ICT) is one of the technologies that is contributing and enhancing national growth. The rapid adoption of information and communication technology (ICT) has enabled people to access information across the globe. But there is a widening gap between those with access to these tools and those without the ability or means to access them. In a digitally unequal world, we need to focus on bridging the gap between the digitally privileged and underprivileged community of rural India. This study is carried out to examine the digital awareness and digital literacy among rural women. Digital literacy is the ability to find, evaluate, utilize, share, and create content using information technology and the internet. Digital literacy is the knowledge, skills, and behaviours used in a broad range of digital devices such as smart phones, tablets, laptops, and desktops, all of which are seen as network rather than computing devices. Ramanathapuram and Sivagangai districts were selected for this study. A simple random sampling technique is used for selecting the sample. The total sample size is 140 respondents.

Marine pollution has been an ever-present problem since the advent of large-scale agricultural activity and industrialization. However, significant laws and regulations at an international level to tackle the problem came only in the mid-20th century. During United Nations Conventions on the Law of the Sea in the early 1950s, the various stakeholders came together to deliberate and formulate laws pertaining to marine pollution. Until the mid-20th century, the majority of the scientists maintained that oceans were vast enough to be able to dilute the amount of pollution being drained into them, thus considering pollution harmless to the marine life. The study examines the global output of marine pollution literature during 1994–2018 reflected in Web of Science database. The study reveals that, out of total 1412 papers, the largest number of publications was 112 (7.93%) are in the year 2018. The growth rate increased from 16 publications in 1994 to 112 (2018). The average collaborative index 4.48 was counted between 1994 and 2018. The average value of collaboration coefficient for marine pollution is 0.61. The degree of collaboration in the marine pollution literature is 0.86, which clearly indicates the dominance of multiple authors. Among the Prolific authors, Bellas, J. is the top ranker who has contributed 22 articles. In geographical distribution of publications, the largest number of contributions was from England with 560 (39.66%). India placed sixth with 23 (1.63%).

In this study, Alagappa University is used to analyze social media applications among many information technology students. One hundred sixty-three questionnaires were collected from computer science, computer application, library and information science, and computational logistics department students. ANOVA test, chi-square, and independent t-test were used to test hypotheses. ANOVA t-test analysis showed that the frequency of using social media relationship with the department at the rate of f= 5.192, statistical significant level P=0.002. This study reveals that students are using social media sites such as Whatsapp, YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, etc. Information technology students often use social media for their educational activities.

All academic institutions find rapid growth in computer networks and the use of computerized databases to access information in their libraries. Most academic libraries include hybrid libraries, which have e-library features and traditional library services. It is difficult to use electronic information resources effectively without training. Students need to obtain the skills to get information quickly and efficiently from electronic sources and become what is often referred to as information literate. The human being is blessed with a unique ability to create something from nothing. He creates, originates, innovates, generates, accumulates knowledge, produces works of art, and discovers the truth about the world he lives in. What sets the information age apart from prior periods in history is the label we put on these intellectual creations. These days the economy of nations depends upon buying and selling facts, ideas, knowledge. This chapter explores information literacy skills amongst higher education students.

This chapter looks at open educational resources (OER), the evolution and conceptualization, the empirical literature so far on utilization of OER in Nigeria, potential determinants of OER utilization, and the future pathways for OER as essential learning resources for functional education and training in the 21st century. The open access movement calls upon researchers and academics to provide open access to their research works by either publishing their findings in open access journals that provide open access to their contents online or by depositing their work into repositories that make their content freely available over the internet. Open educational resources (OER) are now at the forefront of education, knowledge, and skills acquisition across the universe. This implies that OER can be used in all learning environments for addressing learning needs of different classes of individuals in the society. There should be priority attention in developing ICT infrastructures at all levels of education in Nigeria, which is expected to facilitate unhindered exploitation of all kinds of existing OER across the universe.

The library is a social institution. Libraries form a vital part of the world's social and educational system. They are entrusted with the responsibility of carrying knowledge to the doors of those who require it, so that it can be fruitfully utilized both by the educated and the uneducated. Knowledge is available through books, films, recordings, and other media. People in all walks of life use library resources for their day-to-day life. A public library is a social organization, supported by public funds, which provides for self-education, free information on social, economic, cultural, and recreational needs of all members of rural and urban classes of the society. It serves the public without any discrimination of caste, creed, age or gender, status, and educational attainments. It is, therefore, described as ‘People's University'. It is a democratic institution of the people, by the people, and for the people. The study reveals that the majority of the respondents, 73 (11.62%) belonging to the age group of 56-65 years visited the library to read Tamil newspapers.

In libraries, outreach is often described as services for those who are infrequent users or non-users, or as services for those who are traditionally underserved. Library outreach strives to provide equitable delivery of library services to all, through the development of programs, services, and policies that make the library available to everyone to engage with public and to offer specific targeted services. The aim of this chapter was to identify the current range and scope of public library outreach service models, including an overview of the development of these models to explore the strengths, weaknesses, costs, benefits, and opportunities of different outreach models that can be used within public libraries.

The most rapidly changing pervasive and publicized aspects of library and information studies are e-resources. In a relatively short period of the time, e-resources have expanded drastically from the few dozen computerized bibliography databases to the overwhelming amount of information available today. Electronic resources have grown to include online library catalogues, lists of CD-ROMs, online journals, databases, newspapers, reference materials, open access journals, e-books, major publishers, and online bookshops. There is a pressing need for guidance regarding the use of such resources. The findings of this study conclude that the age-wise respondents have many problems accessing e-resources including computer viruses, having difficulty using digital resources due to lack of IT knowledge, and their limited access to computers.
