This review assesses Justyna Deszcz-Tryhubczak’s Yes to Solidarity, No to Oppression: Radical Fantasy Fiction and Its Young Readers. Deszcz-Tryhubczak has two agendas in this volume: first, to explore the capacity of Radical Fantasy fiction to model for young readers the agency of youth forming collaborative, cross-generational, and possibly cross-cultural alliances to address glocal socio-political and/or environmental issues spawned by the injustices and inequities of late-stage capitalism; second, to model a new approach to participatory research, involving child readers not as subjects of study but as collaborative readers of texts. Deszcz-Tryhubczak provides a thorough examination of the problem of adult critics speculating about child readers based on constructed implied child readers rather than on actual children, then proceeds to identify how Childhood Studies may offer some productive means of thinking about and, more important, engaging with real children. She provides a clear definition of Radical Fantasy and brief readings of both core and marginal examples of the genre. This contextualizes her description of her methodology and discussion of results from two research projects collaborating with young readers. Finally, Deszcz-Tryhubczak contends that participatory research is a way to move forward in children’s literature scholarship in a more democratic manner, and moreover that applying this methodology to Radical Fantasy is potentially also a means of engaging children in important debates on issues that are shaping their futures. I find this book a stimulating contribution to our understanding of youth reading that offers intriguing possibilities for further research.

Environmental issues such as water scarcity are typically multidimensional problems, and resolving them requires a systems-based approach and socio-technical innovations. This article applies the “Problem-oriented Innovation System (PIS)” as a new approach to resolve water scarcity problem. In Iran, this has not been the case as natural water scarcity along with decades of mismanagement has turned water scarcity into a national crisis and caused several interrelated socioeconomic problems. Using case study, in this article, Iran’s water scarcity is analyzed to see how the PIS is able to help resolve this problem. Results indicate that the inefficient management and monitoring the water scarcity and lack of appropriate standardization and tariffs are the most important system failures of the water scarcity PIS in Iran. Also, the most important policy implications are moving toward decentralization in water management based on a participatory approach and establishing a national drought monitoring system.

Modern agriculture must meet the changing needs of society both in terms of food quality and with regards to the environmental issues related to primary production (e.g., biodiversity, habitats, the quality of water and air, and climate change). In this context, win-win solutions at the farm level are required, with more sustainable food production, as well as, a reduction in air, water, and soil pollution, and loss of biodiversity and natural resources. To address these issues, a new emerging discipline called “systemic agro-homeopathy” is currently being developed. This approach considers plants and their interactions with the environment as a unified agroecosystem, called the “holon” and it is based on the use of substances at ultrahigh dilutions that are safe for farmers and have no ecological side effects. This report describes the principles and the application of this approach.

Environmental issues constitute continuous concern for governments, societies and business organizations. Green supply chain management(GSCM) emerged as a new approach that extends environmental responsibility of organizations throughout their entire supply chain managements. In this paper, we first discuss the definitions of environmental sustainability and GSCM as well as the important differences between GSCM and SCM, then some latest research progresses on the deep relations between environmental sustainability and GSCM are briefly reviewed. Finally, possible future developments of green packaging are prospected.

Palavras - chave: sensibilidade ambiental urbana, plataforma ambiental, Londrina.   The Platform Environmental and Employment Project Ring of Londrina (PR)  ABSTRACTThe subject of this article is recent urban environmental planning of Londrina (PR). The main question is: how urban environmental issues may define the site for the a ring road project “anel do emprego” ? Anel do Emprego is a ring road design created to provide employment opportunities to a specific area, by alloying a land use zone different than the current master plan. The main purpose of the article is, therefore, to demonstrate how the environmental plan was elaborated to define the site of the job ring project “anel do emprego”. The methodology was made to elaborate the urban vulnerability of the hydrographic basin of Lindóia River to locate with classes of high and low urban vulnerability. The theoretical focus lay on the emphasis of an urban planning to be thought by an integrated skeen. In order to demonstrate it, we divide the article in 4 sections: the first one is about the geographically of the area and the landmark theoretician basis; the second is methods and material which explains how the environmental plan was made, area the analysis of the Londóia River; the third part is about the definition of the site for the ring-job project and on the fourth section we write the final considerations. Keywords: urban environmental issues; environmental plan; vulnerability.

Undergraduates in ecology and conservation biology courses often lack a clear understanding of how to do fieldwork and utilize data analysis to answer complex questions. This is unfortunate, because with proper training these students could identify and address some of today's most pressing environmental issues. I present a simple, problem-based learning activity that provides students a new approach to understanding two important topics in the environmental sciences – how biodiversity is distributed across landscapes and how habitat loss can affect this biodiversity. This activity helps students explore foundational concepts in biology, enables them to collect data in a simplistic field setting, and introduces them to statistical analyses and modeling. In addition, it also teaches students how to ask questions, synthesize data, and address an issue using the same approaches that conservation practitioners utilize in the real world.

=== / Signs, labels, claims are to inform consumers of product attributes, and are part of the packaging. Labeling is one of the most important marketing and management tool, while purchase decision is made at the point of purchase. The aim of this paper is to present the basic definitions and elements of information content on food packaging. The author developed a new approach to examine labeling using multidimensional scaling as a result of a pilot study. Labels are to distinguish through three dimensions: precognition, interest and reliability. Beyond that labels can be sorted to five homogeneous clusters based on classic, dietary, functional, conscious and production attributes. The relevancy of labeling is supported by growing interest of health and environmental issues and changing law environment.

AbstractA widely used tool in studying quasi-monoperiodic processes is the O–C diagram. This paper deals with the application of this diagram in minor planet studies. The main difference between our approach and the classical O–C diagram is that we transform the epoch (=time) dependence into the geocentric longitude domain. We outline a rotation modelling using this modified O–C and illustrate the abilities with detailed error analysis. The primary assumption, that the monotonity and the shape of this diagram is (almost) independent of the geometry of the asteroids is discussed and tested. The monotonity enables an unambiguous distinction between the prograde and retrograde rotation, thus the four-fold (or in some cases the two-fold) ambiguities can be avoided. This turned out to be the main advantage of the O–C examination. As an extension to the theoretical work, we present some preliminary results on 1727 Mette based on new CCD observations.

Previously we reported that tannic acid is a very effective fixative for proteins including polypeptides. Especially, in the cross section of microtubules, thirteen submits in A-tubule and eleven in B-tubule could be observed very clearly. An elastic fiber could be demonstrated very clearly, as an electron opaque, homogeneous fiber. However, tannic acid did not penetrate into the deep portion of the tissue-block. So we tried Catechin. This shows almost the same chemical natures as that of proteins, as tannic acid. Moreover, we thought that catechin should have two active-reaction sites, one is phenol, and the other is catechole. Catechole site should react with osmium, to make Os- black. Phenol-site should react with peroxidase existing perhydroxide.
