Poult enteritis and mortality syndrome (PEMS) is one of the most significant problem affecting turkeys and continues to cause severe economic losses worldwide. Although the specific causes of PEMS remains unknown, this syndrome might involve an interaction between several causative agents such as enteropathogenic viruses (coronaviruses, rotavirus, astroviruses and adenoviruses) and bacteria and protozoa. Non-infectious causes such as feed and management are also interconnected factors. However, it is difficult to determine the specific cause of enteric disorders under field conditions. Additionally, similarities of clinical signs and lesions hamper the accurate diagnosis. The purpose of the present review is to discuss in detail the main viral possible causative agents of PEMS and challenges in diagnosis and control.

This paper addresses a debris flow disaster in Yingxiu town after the Wenchuan earthquake. Through site investigation and data review, the geography and geological environment of the basin and the development, formation conditions and activity characteristics of the debris flow in the basin are analyzed. Calculate and analyze the characteristics of the debris flow, such as gravity, flow velocity and impact force. According to the management idea of combination of blocking and discharging, this paper proposes to arrange three blocking dams in the main ditch, construct drainage gullies in the downstream accumulation section, and prevent and control the aqueduct in the intersection of the main ditch and the G213 national road, which will be similar to the earthquake in the future. It is provided as a reference for research and prevention of the debris flow.

Hazard analyses were conducted at four street-vending stands in the Dominican Republic. Temperatures of foods were measured during cooking, display (holding), and reheating (when done). Samples were taken at each step of the operation and at 5 to 6-h intervals during display. Foods usually attained temperatures that exceeded 90°C at the geometric center during cooking and reheating. At three of the stands, foods (e.g., fish, chickens, pork pieces) were fried and held until sold. Leftovers were held overnight at ambient temperatures in the home of the vendor or in a locked compartment of the stand. They were usually reheated early in the morning and displayed until sold. During the interval of holding, aerobic mesophilic counts progressively increased with time from about 103 after cooking to between 105 to 109/g. The higher counts were usually associated with holding overnight. Escherichia coli (in water, milk and cheese samples), Bacillus cereus (in bean and rice samples), and Clostridium perfringens (in meat, chicken and bean samples) were isolated, but usually in numbers less than 103/g. At the other stand, foods (e.g. beans, rice, meat and chicken) were cooked just before serving as complete meals. There were no leftovers. This operation was less hazardous, although there were many sanitary deficiencies. Recommendations for prevention and control of microbial hazards (mainly reducing holding time, periodic reheating and requesting reheating just before purchasing) are given. The need and suggestions for implementing educational activities to alert and inform those concerned about hazards and preventive measures are presented.

A questionnaire survey of 315 cattle owners from the rural districts of KwaZulu-Natal was carried out. The aim of the survey was to improve our understanding of local farmers' perceptions and practices of animal disease prevention and control and to establish the extent of their relationship with veterinary services. The survey showed that many owners practice preventive measures such as deworming, tick control and vaccination. Traditional medicines were in use by over half the respondents (58.9 %). Diseases are regarded as an important management problem (56.1 %); ticks, worms and diarrhoea dominated the mentioned health problems in cattle. Veterinary services still play an important role and are a frequent source of advice to owners. The findings of the survey and their context are discussed.

Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) outbreak, caused by the most recently discovered coronavirus, is currently affecting a large population across the globe. World health organization (WHO) has already declared COVID-19, a pandemic, and the world is fighting to contain the COVID-19 outbreak. Nepal has taken several preventive measures to control the coronavirus outbreak. However, some additional steps are needed to prevent community transmission of the disease. This brief communication discusses the government of Nepal actions and provides recommendations for the prevention and control of COVID-19 infection in Nepal.

Abstract The ongoing pandemic of the coronavirus disease 2019 has spread rapidly to all countries of the world. Africa is particularly predisposed to an escalation of the pandemic and its negative impact given its weak economy and health systems. In addition, inadequate access to the social determinants of health such as water and sanitation and socio-cultural attributes may constrain the implementation of critical preventive measures such as hand washing and social distancing on the continent. Given these facts, the continent needs to focus on targeted and high impact prevention and control strategies and interventions which could break the chain of transmission quickly. We conclude that the available body of scientific evidence on the coronavirus disease 2019 holds the key to the development of such strategies and interventions. Going forward, we recommend that the African research community should scale up research to provide scientific evidence for a better characterization of the epidemiology, transmission dynamics, prevention and control of the virus on the continent.

Objective: To investigate the application of predictive nursing guidelines in orthopedic care based on medical imaging and health statistics. Methods: 140 patients were divided into two groups: observation and control. The patients in the control group received routine nursing. The patients in the observation group received the guidance of predictive nursing on the basis of routine nursing. The nursing effects of the two groups were observed. Results: After the implementation of nursing interventions, the complication rate was 4.3% in the observation group and 20.0% in the control group. The difference between the groups was statistically significant (P < 0.05). The satisfaction rate was 97.1%, and the nursing satisfaction of the control group was 90.0%. The difference between the groups was statistically significant (P < 0.05). Discussion: Through observation of patient satisfaction and treatment, especially in orthopedics, patients are differentiated according to different diseases, and predictive care can effectively prevent complications. Conclusion: Predictive care provides preventive measures by comprehensively understanding and comprehensively assessing the patient's condition and developing care measures in a timely and effective manner.

The emergence of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) did not only cause a devastating effect on every corner of society but also taught us many important lessons. One of the lessons is on the importance of the principles of public health. We have seen this repeatedly in recent years during the emergence of SARS, Ebola, MARS and Nipah (Ahmed et al., 2019). The principles of public health have been effective in controlling these infections and we are confident that COVID-19 will be under control using these simple measures. As health professionals, we must set examples by following preventive measures, i.e. wearing mask properly, safe distancing and washing hands, to prevent and control the spread of COVID-19. Unfortunately, there is an erroneous concept in these measures however, therefore, cooperation of everybody in the community is necessary to overcome them.

The climate can lead to the emergence of environments conducive to the proliferation of dengue vectors, in addition to diseases and illnesses related to climatic phenomena. In this context, it is necessary to relate the exposure devices, that is, as associated variables associated with dengue cases. The objective of this research was to carry out a retrospective epidemiological study, with an emphasis on sex, age group and municipalities reporting dengue cases, as well as to correlate the cases of the disease with rainfall levels, in the state of Pará, Brazil. The correlation between rainy periods, transition from rainy to less rainy (C-MC) and less rainy to rainy (MC-C) showed a statistical correlation (p <0.05) with dengue cases in the period studied. Thus, it was found that dengue cases had an increase in the year subsequent to 2018, in which the majority were women with complete high school, in the age group of 20 to 39 years old. Given this scenario, the analysis of epidemiological data is important so that preventive measures and control of the agent are adopted by the government.Keywords: clinical-laboratory; epidemiological; gender; age group. Correlação de casos de dengue e precipitação pluviométrica, no estado do Pará, Brasil (2014 a 2019) RESUMOO clima pode levar ao surgimento de ambientes propícios à proliferação de vetores da dengue, além de doenças e enfermidades relacionadas aos fenômenos climáticos. Nesse contexto, é necessário relatar os mecanismos de exposição, ou seja, as variáveis climáticas associada aos casos de dengue. O objetivo desta pesquisa foi realizar um estudo epidemiológico retrospectivo, com ênfase no sexo, faixa etária e municípios que notificaram casos de dengue, bem como correlacionar os casos da doença com os níveis de precipitação, no estado do Pará, Brasil. A correlação entre os períodos chuvoso, transição de chuvoso para menos chuvoso (C-MC) e menos chuvoso para chuvoso (MC-C) apresentou correlação estatística (p <0,05) com os casos de dengue no período estudado. Assim, constatou-se que os casos de dengue aumentaram no ano subsequente a 2018, em que a maioria eram mulheres com ensino médio completo, na faixa etária de 20 a 39 anos. Diante desse cenário, a análise dos dados epidemiológicos é importante para que medidas preventivas e de controle do agente sejam adotadas pelo poder público.Palavras-chave: clínico-laboratorial; epidemiológico; Gênero sexual; grupo de idade.
