AbstractZafarana Wind Park is considered the largest wind farm in Middle East. By the year 2022, Zafarana wind farm will inject 545 MW to Egypt national electric network (ENEN). This wind farm has been connecting to ENEN in stages (eight stages) from ten years ago. Each stage represents a project of wind farm. Hence, the impact of the emergency condition of ENEN on the performance of the installed stage of Zafarana Wind Park should be studied. Moreover, determining the possible method to reduce the side effects of the emergency condition of ENEN on the installed stage of Zafarana Wind Park becomes an important issue. In this paper, a combination between Static Synchronous Series Compensator (SSSC) and crowbar (Cro-SSSC) is used to enhance the performance of the one installed stage of Zafarana Wind Park. The studied stage of Zafarana Wind Park is Zafarana Z1 wind farm (Z1). Zafarana Z1 wind farm represents that first stage of Zafarana Wind Park that was connected to ENEN. Hence, the paper takes Zafarana Z1 wind farm as the studied case to examine the impact of Cro-SSSC. The crowbar is used to protect the power components of the SSSC from the high current during grid fault condition. Also, in this paper multi-objective lightning attachment procedure optimization algorithm (LAPO) and the sine cosine algorithm (SCA) are used to evaluate and tune the control gains of SSSC and the value of crowbar's resistance. This step is important in order to determine the values of the control's gains of SSSC and the value of crowbar resistance which suit the studied system (one installed stage of Zafarana Wind Park). The sliding mode control (SMC) is used as an example of nonlinear control of SSSC. Also, a hybrid of LAPO and SMC is used to improve the performance of Zafarana Z1 during faults. The results of LAPO, SCA and SMC are compared during three-phase fault and single line to ground fault applied to the studied system.

This paper used double-fed wind farm as the object. The output power of the double-fed wind farm fluctuates because the wind speed differs and changes and the three-phase shorted to ground fault occurs in the transmission line. The weighted average method was used in double-fed wind farm grid equivalent modeling. By comparing power fluctuations in the actual model and the equivalent model, it is verified the proposed equivalent modeling method is effective.

Photovoltaic (PV) power generation and the types of connected loads both have an effect on protective impedance relays’ readings. This paper investigates this effect in a real distribution system installed in the State of Kuwait. It is found that, both the dynamic loads and the PV plants have considerable effects in the relay impedance value which vary according to the load type, PV connection and fault locationplace. Both single phase to ground fault (unsymmetrical fault) and three phase fault (symmetrical fault) are investigated. When single line to ground fault occurs at the PV bus (far from relay location), the dynamic loads increase the relay impedance while the PV plant decreases the relay impedance. When a single phase to ground fault occurs at the relay bus (load bus), the dynamic load decreases the relay impedance and the PV plant increases it. For a three-phase to ground fault at the relay bus, both dynamic load percentages and PV plant power generation have no effect on the protective relay impedance readings. At this condition, the relay impedance totally depends on the fault resistance. The main finding of this paper is that both the load type (especially dynamic load) and the PV plant have dominant effects on the protective impedance relay reading and setting. The distribution system planners and operators must consider the PV plant and types of load during designing, setting and adjusting the protective impedance relays. The most important point in this paper is considering real case study. This means that, the obtained results are more realistic than the assumed system in the other research. If the fault occurs at the location of the PV system’s bus when no PV power is generated, the dynamic load causes the relay impedance to increase, while connecting the PV decreases the relay impedance. The relay’s resistance and reactance increase from 0.3153Ω and 1.4950Ω, to 0.3456Ω and 1.6617Ω respectively when the dynamic load increases from 25% to 90% of the total load at constant high fault resistance. The relay resistance and reactance decrease from 0.2849Ω and 0.3443Ω (without PV plant), to 0.2195Ω and 0.3137Ω (with PV), respectively. When the dynamic load percentage increases from 25% to 90%, the resistance and reactance of the relay decrease from 1.0488Ω and 0.0051Ω, to 0.9526Ω and 0.0008Ω, respectively. This phenomenon is valid for all expected fault resistances. When considering constant dynamic load percentage and constant fault resistance, the relay resistance and reactance increase from 1.375Ω and 0.0022Ω (without PV) to 1.5745Ω and 0.0726 Ω (with PV), respectively. Based on those results, the impedance relay setting must be adjusted according to the percentage of the dynamic loads percentage, the PV penetration level, and the fault location.

<span lang="EN-GB">This paper analyses the impact of asymmetry of over-head power line parameters on short circuit currents when three-phase fault and phase-to-ground fault occur. The calculation results with consideration of an asymmetry of the power line parameters are confronted with the calculation in accordance with the Slovak standard STN EN 60909 which does not consider asymmetry of equipment parameters in the power system. The calculation of short-circuit conditions was carried out for two types of 400 kV power line towers on which is a considerably different arrangement of phase conductors.</span>

Gasoline come primarily from petroleum cuts, it is the preferred liquid fuel in our lives. Two gasoline samples of octane numbers 91 and 95 from Saudi Arabia petrol stations were studied. This study was achieved at three different temperatures 20oC, 30oC and 50oC representing the change in temperatures of the different seasons of the year. Both the evaporated gases of light aromatic hydrocarbons (BTEX) of gasoline samples inside the tank were subjected to analyze qualitatively and quantitatively via capillary gas chromatography. The detailed hydrocarbon composition and the octane number of the studied gasoline samples were determined using detailed hydrocarbon analyzer. The idea of research is indicating the impact of light aromatic compounds in gasoline on the toxic effect of human and environment on the one hand, and on octane number of gasoline on the other hand. Although the value of octane number will be reduced but this will have a positive impact on the environment as a way to produce clean fuel.

Podkarpackie Voivodeship is one of the regions of Poland in which the number of agritourism entities is very high. Therefore tourism plays a significant role in its development strategy. The aim of the paper is to identify the current state of agritourism and the changes that have occurred in the region in the years 2000–2016. Specific objectives are to determine the distribution of agritourism farms and their offer, together with a comprehensive analysis of the environmental and socio-economic factors, as well as the impact of the Slovak-Ukrainian border. The report was developed on the statistical materials from the Polish Central Statistical Office, Podkarpackie Agricultural Advisory Centre in Boguchwała and data collected from municipalities and district offices that is published on their websites, as well as through interviews with 100 owners of agritourism farms in the Podkarpackie Voivodeship. The research has shown, on the one hand, the decline in the number of farms in the region and, on the other hand, the increase in the diversity of the tourist offer of these entities. Distribution of agritourism farms is closely linked to the attractiveness of natural environment and quality of secondary tourism resources. Traditional agritourism has not yet fully used its countryside, as well as cross-border advantages of its location.

This book examines the impact that Athenian Old Comedy had on Greek writers of the Imperial era. It is generally acknowledged that Imperial-era Greeks responded to Athenian Old Comedy in one of two ways: either as a treasure trove of Atticisms, or as a genre defined by and repudiated for its aggressive humor. Worthy of further consideration, however, is how both approaches, and particularly the latter one that relegated Old Comedy to the fringes of the literary canon, led authors to engage with the ironic and self-reflexive humor of Aristophanes, Eupolis, and Cratinus. Authors ranging from serious moralizers (Plutarch and Aelius Aristides) to comic writers in their own right (Lucian, Alciphron), to other figures not often associated with Old Comedy (Libanius) adopted aspects of the genre to negotiate power struggles, facilitate literary and sophistic rivalries, and provide a model for autobiographical writing. To varying degrees, these writers wove recognizable features of the genre (e.g., the parabasis, its agonistic language, the stage biographies of the individual poets) into their writings. The image of Old Comedy that emerges from this time is that of a genre in transition. It was, on the one hand, with the exception of Aristophanes’s extant plays, on the verge of being almost completely lost; on the other hand, its reputation and several of its most characteristic elements were being renegotiated and reinvented.

The normative perspective of this chapter is how to guarantee respect for the fundamental values of freedom of expression and journalistic reporting on matters of public interest in cases where a (public) person claims protection of his or her right to reputation. First it explains why there is an increasing number and expanding potential of conflicts between the right to freedom of expression and media freedom (Article 10 ECHR), on the one hand, and the right of privacy and the right to protection of reputation (Article 8 ECHR), on the other. In addressing and analysing the European Court’s balancing approach in this domain, the characteristics and the impact of the seminal 2012 Grand Chamber judgment in Axel Springer AG v. Germany (no. 1) are identified and explained. On the basis of the analysis of the Court’s subsequent jurisprudence in defamation cases it evaluates whether this case law preserves the public watchdog-function of media, investigative journalism and NGOs reporting on matters of public interest, but tarnishing the reputation of public figures.

Prompted by the convulsions of the late eighteenth century and inspired by the expansion of evangelicalism across the North Atlantic world, Protestant Dissenters from the 1790s eagerly subscribed to a millennial vision of a world transformed through missionary activism and religious revival. Voluntary societies proliferated in the early nineteenth century to spread the gospel and transform society at home and overseas. In doing so, they engaged many thousands of converts who felt the call to share their experience of personal conversion with others. Though social respectability and business methods became a notable feature of Victorian Nonconformity, the religious populism of the earlier period did not disappear and religious revival remained a key component of Dissenting experience. The impact of this revitalization was mixed. On the one hand, growth was not sustained in the long term and, to some extent, involvement in interdenominational activity undermined denominational identity; on the other hand, Nonconformists gained a social and political prominence they had not enjoyed since the middle of the seventeenth century and their efforts laid the basis for the twentieth-century explosion of evangelicalism in Africa, Asia, and South America.

An integrated fault tolerant controller is proposed for vehicle chassis system. Based on the coupled characteristics of vertical and lateral system, the fault tolerant controller mainly concentrates on the cooperative control of controllable suspension and lateral system with external disturbances and actuator faults. A nine-DOF coupled model is developed for fault reconstruction and accurate control. Firstly, a fault reconstruction mechanism based on sliding mode is introduced; when the sliding mode achieves, actuator fault signals can be observed exactly through selecting appropriate gain matrix and equivalent output injection term. Secondly, an active suspension controller, a roll moment controller and a stability controller is developed respectively; the integrated control strategy is applied to the system under different driving conditions: when the car is traveling straightly, the main purpose of the integrated strategy is to improve the vertical performance; the lateral controller including roll moment control and stability control will be triggered when there is a steering angle input. Simulations experiments verify the performance enhancement and stability of the proposed controller under three different driving conditions.
