The exponential development of Information Technologies revolutionized healthcare. A significant aspect of this revolution is the access to health information in the Internet. The Internet World Stats estimates that 56.8% of the world population used the Internet in March 2019, an increase of 1,066% from 2000. According to The Pew Research Center survey of 2012 81% of Americans used the internet and 72% of them searched for health information. Even though there is a lack in more recent data on the percentage of online health information seekers, it is clear that this trend is on the rise. This chapter focuses on the characteristics of the search for online health information by patients and providers, investigates features related to the quality of health web sites, and discusses the impact of these searches on healthcare.

Cloud computing is the cutting edge technology in the information field to provide services to the users over the internet through web–based tools and applications. One of the major aspects of cloud computing is load balancing. Challenges like Quality of service (QoS) metrics and resource utilization can be improved by balancing the load in cloud environment. Specific scheduling criteria can be applied using load balancing for users prioritization. This paper surveys different load balancing algorithms. The approaches that are existing are discussed and analyzed to provide fair load balancing and also a comparative analysis was presented for the performance of the existing different load balancing schemes.

Background Seeking health information on the internet is very popular despite the debatable ability of lay users to evaluate the quality of health information and uneven quality of information available on the Web. Consulting the internet for health information is pervasive, particularly when other sources are inaccessible because of time, distance, and money constraints or when sensitive or embarrassing questions are to be explored. Question and answer (Q&A) platforms are Web-based services that provide personalized health advice upon the information seekers’ request. However, it is not clear how the quality of health advices is ensured on these platforms. Objective The objective of this study was to identify how platform design impacts the quality of Web-based health advices and equal access to health information on the internet. Methods A total of 900 Q&As were collected from 9 Q&A platforms with different design features. Data on the design features for each platform were generated. Paid physicians evaluated the data to quantify the quality of health advices. Guided by the literature, the design features that affected information quality were identified and recorded for each Q&A platform. The least absolute shrinkage and selection operator and unbiased regression tree methods were used for the analysis. Results Q&A platform design and health advice quality were related. Expertise of information providers (beta=.48; P=.001), financial incentive (beta=.4; P=.001), external reputation (beta=.28; P=.002), and question quality (beta=.12; P=.001) best predicted health advice quality. Virtual incentive, Web 2.0 mechanisms, and reputation systems were not associated with health advice quality. Conclusions Access to high-quality health advices on the internet is unequal and skewed toward high-income and high-literacy groups. However, there are possibilities to generate high-quality health advices for free.

Purpose The aim of this research forum article was to describe a feasible web-based solution for improving the quality of life of persons with hearing problems, such as hearing loss or tinnitus. The online platform was developed at the Department of Behavioural Sciences and Learning at Linköping University, Sweden, and has been running for a number of years and used in numerous studies and treatments. Method The security aspects of the platform as well as the process flow for running a study or treatment are described, focusing primarily on the technical and practical considerations. Also presented are the design characteristics and the main features and functions available in the platform. Results We point out the many advantages of running Internet-assisted intervention treatments, the challenges that we have faced, and some intended developments. Many of our research colleagues, both from Sweden and other countries, have already implemented or intend to implement their own studies on this platform. Conclusions Audiological rehabilitation can be delivered via the Internet using a stable online platform. Security and usability are important factors to have in mind for the design as well as adaptability to the patients. A next development step is to implement and test blended treatments using video conferencing inside the platform.

Online panels (OPs) are an important form of web-based data collection, as illustrated by their widespread use. In the classical sense, a panel is a longitudinal study in which the same information is collected from the same individuals at different points in time. In contrast to that, an OP has come to denote a pool of registered people who have agreed to occasionally take part in web-based studies. Thus with OPs, the traditional understanding of a panel as a longitudinal study is broadened because an OP can be employed as a sampling source for both longitudinal and cross-sectional studies. This article gives an overview of the current state of use of OPs. It discusses what OPs are, what type of OPs there are, how OPs work from a technological point of view, and what their advantages and disadvantages are. The article reviews the current body of methodological findings on doing research with OPs. Based on this evidence, recommendations are given as to how the quality of data that are collected in OPs can be augmented.

One type of business that has the potential to be improved quality of service is a document copying services as implemented in Binus University. In addition to the staff and lecturers, students need the service for various types of documents such as copying lecture materials and other administrative documents. By leveraging the technology capabilities possessed by a photocopy machine to connect to a network computer, a system that supports the printing of documents through the Internet can be made. The online printing system is web-based, and capable of storing printing information into a database, so records can provide tracking information, which affects the quality of service and good performance.

The development of media technology in the delivery of information faster and faster and accurate. For that manage information technology is needed either because the information is of great value to a company. The system inventory information is a very important for a company, by implementing a web based information system for running the collection of goods to the company, makes it all work, for data processing of goods, the data became more organized and information about the inventory becomes easier until seen everywhere through the internet. PT. CAD Solusindo is a company engaged in the repair service in communication tools. In the process of recording and calculations performed by PT CAD Solusindo until today still use the program Microsoft Excel, starting from the receipt of goods, goods out and preparing reports addressed to the leader. Designing the system described by UML modeling. The programming language used is PHP and MYSQL database. It is expected that these applications can help the PT. CAD Solusindo to help users to further improve supervision of the stocks held in the company so that the quality of reports resulted more accurately, quickly, and precisely when required as annual audits.

summary The current trend among many universities is to increase the number of courses available online. However, there are fundamental problems in transferring traditional education courses to virtual formats. Delivering current curricula in an online format does not assist in overcoming the negative effects on student motivation which are inherent in providing information passively. Using problem-based learning (PBL) online is a method by which computers can become a tool to encourage active learning among students. The delivery of curricula via goal-based scenarios allows students to learn at different rates and can successfully shift online learning from memorization to discovery. This paper reports on a Web-based e-health course that has been delivered via PBL for the past 12 months. Thirty distance-learning students undertook postgraduate courses in e-health delivered via the Internet (asynchronous communication). Data collected via online student surveys indicated that the PBL format was both flexible and interesting. PBL has the potential to increase the quality of the educational experience of students in online environments.

BACKGROUND The internet is a source for inquiries and a way to distribute information. Pregnant women may look to the internet for information about COVID-19’s impact on pregnancy. As providers, it’s vital to provide patients with information that is both reliable and comprehendible. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the readability and quality of web-based information regarding Covid-19 in pregnancy. OBJECTIVE The primary aim of this study was to evaluate the quality, readability, and accuracy of web-based information regarding Covid-19 in pregnancy. METHODS The JAMA benchmark tool was used to evaluate the websites. Readability was assessed using Flesch-Kincaid reading ease and Flesch-Kincaid grade level. An interrater reliability analysis using the Kappa statistic was performed to determine consistency among raters. RESULTS The mean score using the JAMA tool was 3.53 (SD, 0.74). The majority of the websites came from news sites (37.8%). The median reading grade level was 11.9. The interrater reliability for the raters was found to be Kappa=0.363 (P<0.001). CONCLUSIONS Our study indicated that reliable information regarding Covid-19 in pregnancy was available online. An assessment of website content indicated that both grade levels and reading ease was higher than recommended. By guiding patients to reliable and accurate sources we can educate our patients while also guiding shared decision making.
