In the last years, the Internet of Things (IoT) has emerged as a key application context in the design and evolution of technologies in the transition toward a 5G ecosystem. More and more IoT technologies have entered the market and represent important enablers in the deployment of networks of interconnected devices. As network and spatial device densities grow, energy efficiency and consumption are becoming an important aspect in analyzing the performance and suitability of different technologies. In this framework, this survey presents an extensive review of IoT technologies, including both Low-Power Short-Area Networks (LPSANs) and Low-Power Wide-Area Networks (LPWANs), from the perspective of energy efficiency and power consumption. Existing consumption models and energy efficiency mechanisms are categorized, analyzed and discussed, in order to highlight the main trends proposed in literature and standards toward achieving energy-efficient IoT networks. Current limitations and open challenges are also discussed, aiming at highlighting new possible research directions.

We live in complex times in the health, social, political, and energy spheres, and we must be aware of and implement new trends in intelligent social health systems powered by the Internet of Things (IoT). Sustainable development, energy efficiency, and public health are interrelated parameters that can transform a system or an environment for the benefit of people and the planet. The integration of sensors and smart devices should promote energy efficiency and ensure that sustainable development goals are met. This work is carried out according to a mixed approach, with a literature review and an analysis of the impact of the Sustainable Development Goals on the applications of the Internet of Things and smart systems. In the analysis of results, the following questions are answered about these systems and applications: (a) Are IoT applications key to the improvement of people’s health and the environment? (b) Are there research and case studies implemented in cities or territories that demonstrate the effectiveness of IoT applications and their benefits to public health? (c) What sustainable development indicators and objectives can be assessed in the applications and projects analyzed?

The world is striving to become smart with the latest findings evolved in the communication and the information technology. The emerging of the things that could automatically and intelligently render service to the people in cooperative way acts as a part of this smart world and the internet of things take the significant role in the development of the smart world as it is capable of connecting every tangible things of the world. Though this technological advancement paves way for a seamless and an efficient way of communication, the excess energy consumed by the various add –ons used along with the devices that make the world smart cause environmental pollution and unknown destructions. Multitude of strides researched in improving the energy efficiency in the devices to make the internet of things sustainable and green is reviewed in the paper along with its applications hoping that this would create awareness in the development of the future smart applications.

Abstract. Smart environments provide many benefits to the users including comfort, convenience, energy efficiency, safety, automation, and service quality. The Internet of Things (IoT) has developed to become one of the widely used technologies in smart environments. Many security attacks and threats are generated by security flaws in IoT-based systems and devices, which may affect smart environments applications. As a result, security is one of the most important issues in any smart area or environment based on the IoT model. This paper presents an overview of smart environments based on IoT technology and highlights the main security issues and countermeasures in the four layers of smart environment IoT architecture. It also reviews some of the current solutions that ensure the security of information in smart environments applications.

Background. The IoT technology covers devices and appliances, such as thermostats, home security systems and cameras, lighting fixtures as well as other household appliances that support one or more shared ecosystems, and can be controlled by devices associated with that ecosystem, for example with smartphones and smart speakers. However, there are a lot of problems to be solved. One of these problems is the power supply of wireless sensors on the Internet of Things. Objective. The purpose of the study is to reduce energy consumption of IoT devices in the process of transmitting the collected data by regulating the number of transmission transactions. Methods. The analysis of the existing energy saving methods in IoT devices shows that the problem of choosing the optimal buffer size has not yet been solved. An optimization problem has been formulated, which allows considering the requirements for the quality of transmission of both information flows and communication systems that provide this transfer. Results. The article presents the modified method of information transmission to improve the energy efficiency of the network. The need to allocate a queue buffer at each of the nodes and explain the operation of the node using the queue buffer has been highlighted. The scheme of the project with the use of the modified Sleep / Wake algorithm has been created. Conclusions. The main idea of the method is to allocate a buffer at each node with a certain threshold value, and if the latter is exceeded, the transmission of information packets will begin. This increases the service life of WSN by 14.8… 20.6% compared to the IoT sensor networks that use an asynchronous queue cycle. Keywords: IoT; energy efficiency; life expectancy of the IoT network.

The Internet of Things (IoT) and Software Defined Network (SDN) are two development tools. The administrators organize SDN combined plans and the internet's corporate control by the Internet of Things in decoupling the plane and the flight information. The SDN Providence proposals flexible and programmable IoT in the network. Improvement of energy efficiency in assembly operations in the sequence of legal leadership and command of contract permits for the development of any creative office. Each of the most important processes that enable effective and cost-effective routing is planning and transportation management, including scheduling options. The existing system If Packaging and an optimal network deliver solutions to this problem. In each automatic carrier, there are limitations of breach capacity and time limit. The optimization model first level establishes an IoT Network and verifies the Request and response received the signal. The second step is to identify the effective insertion process and the practical data load balancing method for the two-term operations every process, and third level configures the IoT model. Finally, routing scheduling section included to identify the node features significantly change the reality. The similarities in planning, traffic management, and network planning need implicit. They will reduce cost and improve energy efficiency by eliminating the time to support them. Therefore, alignment, planning, routing and routing path selection in the production process are be mentioned throughout the similarities.
