Governments the world over are increasingly challenging universities to produce human resources with the right skills sets and knowledge required to drive their economies in this twenty-first century. It therefore becomes important for universities to produce graduates that bring tangible and meaningful contributions to the economies. Graduate tracer studies are hailed to be one of the ways in which universities can respond and reposition themselves to the actual needs of the industry. It is against this background that this study was conducted to establish the relevance of the Department of Information and Communication Technology at Mzuzu University to the Malawian economy by systematically investigating occupations of its former students after graduating from the University. The study adopted a quantitative design by distributing an online-based questionnaire with predominantly closed-ended questions. The study focused on three key objectives: to identify key employing sectors of ICT graduates, to gauge the relevance of the ICT programme to its former students’ jobs and businesses, and to establish the level of satisfaction of the ICT curriculum from the perspectives of former ICT graduates. The key findings from the study are that the ICT programme is relevant to the industry. However, some respondents were of the view that the curriculum should be strengthened by revising it through an addition of courses such as Mobile Application Development, Machine Learning, Natural Language Processing, Data Mining, and LINUX Administration to keep abreast with the ever-changing ICT trends and job requirements. The study strongly recommends the need for regular reviews of the curriculum so that it is continually responding to and matches the needs of the industry.

Theory and proof are presented here related to fluid pressure control of bulk solids flowability. They are directed toward a quantitative design goal for fluid-solids flow systems. An effort is made to relate multiphase system concept to existing soil mechanics, strength of material and bulk solids flow theory. Gas or liquid interstitial loads often add cumulative effects to the mechanical loads normally considered in bulk solids flow systems. Summation of the mechanical, gas and liquid loads form the basis for multiphase system design. Useful savings in design, construction and maintenance are expected from application of multiphase theory. Quantitative design can, in some cases, provide flow, no-flow, or a controlled combination of flow and no-flow.

The emigration of skilled nurses from South Africa exacerbates the crisis in the provision of public health services. A descriptive, quantitative design was applied to investigate the relationship between intention to emigrate and employee commitment. Over 400 registered nurses (N = 419), working within public sector tertiary hospitals in the Western Cape, responded to a cross-sectional survey questionnaire. Three foci of employee commitment (organisational, professional and national) were examined but only national commitment significantly helped predict intention to emigrate from South Africa in the regression model (beta = -0.0525, p < 0.0001). The implications of the results obtained in this study are discussed.

The purpose of this study was to analyze the relationship between leadership and motivation in compliance with inpatient nurses in preventing the risk of falling in patients at X1 Hospital Bandar Lampung in 2020. Pre-survey data on nurses in receiving newly hospitalized patients at a hospital in Bandar Lampung Indonesia in December 2019 found several cases concerning nurses’ tasks: did not lower the patients' beds, did not label the patients with the triangles, did not carry out Morse Fall Scale score (MFS) assessments, did not give patients' wristbands the risk of falling, did not install fences of the bed. So far, there has been no incidence of falling patients, however, if there is no effort of preventing, there is a risk of falling patients. This study was a quantitative design and used an analytical cross-sectional approach. The population was of all inpatient nurses at a hospital in Bandar Lampung. The samples in this study were all inpatient nurses totaling 97 nurses. This study used a total sampling technique. The author concludes that 1) the leadership given is not good, 2) motivation is on a moderate scale, 3) the nurse is in the non-obedient category, 4) there is a leadership relationship with inpatient nurse compliance in preventing the risk of falling in patients, and 5) there is a relationship motivation with inpatient nurse compliance in preventing the risk of falling in patients. This article provides new insights regarding the management of fall patients in the context of healthcare practice in Indonesia
