The issue of erratic and epileptic power supply in Nigeria Electricity Company is as old as the country itself. This is not unconnected to some factors such as: inadequate power generated in the national grid, electric power losses in the distribution network, government instability and unstable power reform policies, to mention but a few. The effects of erratic and epileptic power supply have been a major challenge to every sector in Nigeria especially the telecommunication industry. The telecommunication industry plays a significant role in the growth and development of every nation. Hence, this paper aims at critically investigating the causes and effects of erratic and epileptic electric power supply in Nigerian telecommunication industry. More so, the paper suggested and recommended ways to curb and enhance the current erratic and epileptic power situation in the country in order to boost the productivity of telecommunication industry and other sectors as well.

Determination of the main characteristics of the topology and technical condition of equipment underoperating conditions is necessary for analyzing and assessing power and electricity losses in intrashoplow-voltage industrial power supply networks. A comparative analysis of the technical characteristicsof automatic circuit breakers VA57-31 (KEAZ), NSX100 TM-D (Schneider Electric), DPX3 160 (Legrand), Tmax XT1 TMD (ABB) has shown that the main technical parameters of the machines are close in their values. At that it has been found out that automatic switches of the BA57-31 series have the lowest value of power losses per pole (7.5 W), whereas the automatic switches of the Tmax XT1 TMD series have the highest value (10 W). Thus, under the operating conditions of the equipment, the lowest value of power and electricity losses is characteristic of low-voltage electrical networks with installed circuit breakers of the BA57-31 series, and the highest value of losses is noted in in-shop systems with installed circuit breakers Tmax XT1 TMD. Using catalog data, the dependences of active power losses in circuit breakers on rated currents have been established; the algorithms have been developed and the obtained dependences have been modeled using approximating functions. The standard deviation of the compiled approximating functions has been calculated. Analytical expressions of the dynamics of power losses per pole have been determined as a function of the rated current. The graphical dependences of the investigated parameters of low-voltage equipment have been presented. The developed models are recommended to be used to increase the reliability of the assessment and refinement of the amount of active power and electricity losses in low-voltage electrical networks of industrial power supply systems, agrotechnical complexes, and enterprises of the public utility sector.

The work is devoted to the development of a lighting device with control of the color of the LED strip depending on the value of temperature and humidity. To develop a prototype of a lighting installation, an A-Star 32U4 Micro microcontroller (analogue of Arduino Micro), 2 pieces of RGB tape of 5 and 10 cm each, a DHT11 temperature and humidity sensor, connecting wires, a case were purchased. The A-Star 32U4 Micro microcontroller used in the proposed setup is a universal programmable module based on the ATmega32U4 AVR microcontroller from Microchip (formerly Atmel), which has 32KB flash memory, 2.5KB RAM, and builtin USB functionality. A voltage regulator and power selection circuitry allows the board to be powered from either USB or an external 5.5V to 15V supply, while a resettable PTC fuse on the USB VBUS power supply and reverse protection on the VIN help protect it from accidental damage. In the course of the work, studies were carried out on the operation of the installation under normal conditions and at low and high temperatures.

The paper is devoted to the development of technology for reducing the consumption and losses of electrical energy of railway transport enterprises on the basis of the concept of “smart enterprise”. A design solution to the monitoring and management system for energy efficiency indicators was proposed; monitored parameters and influencing factors were determined. The application of the simulation model in the MATLAB/Simulink program for determining the set values of the monitored system parameters, namely, power losses and power factor depending on the influencing factors, is considered. The approximating equation is obtained. Specific power losses were calculated for various control options.

AbstractA high-stability voltage regulator (VR) is proposed in this paper, which integrates transient enhancement and overcurrent protection (OCP). Taken into consideration the performance and area advantages of low-voltage devices, most control parts of proposed VR are supplied by the regulated output voltage, which forms self-power technique (SPT) with power supply rejection (PSR) boosting. Besides, the stability and transient response are enhanced by dynamic load technique (DLT). An embedded overcurrent feedback loop is also adopted to protect the presented VR from damage under overload situations. The proposed VR is implemented in a standard 350 nm BCD technology, whose results indicate the VR can steadily work with 5.5–30 V input voltage, 0–30 mA load range, and 0.1–3.3 μF output capacitor. A 2.98 μV/V line regulation and a 0.233 mV/mA load regulation are achieved with a 40 mA current limiting. The PSR is better than − 64 dB up to 10 MHz with a 0.1 μF output capacitor.
