Progress in microscopy such as STM and TEM-TED has revealed surface structures in atomic dimension. REM has been used for the observation of surface dynamical process and surface morphology. Recently developed reflection electron holography, which employes REM optics to measure the phase shift of reflected electron, has been proved to be effective for the observation of surface morphology in high vertical resolution ≃ 0.01 Å.The key to the high sensitivity of the method is best shown by comparing the phase shift generation by surface topography with that in transmission mode. Difference in refractive index between vacuum and material Vo/2E≃10-4 owes the phase shift in transmission mode as shownn Fig. 1( a). While geometrical path difference is created in reflection mode( Fig. 1(b) ), which is measured interferometrically using high energy electron beam of wavelength ≃0.01 Å. Together with the phase amplification technique , the vertivcal resolution is expected to be ≤0.01 Å in an ideal case.

The utility of molecular markers for predicting the risk of metachronous advanced colorectal lesions (MACLs) remains poorly investigated. We examined the relationship between somatic hypermethylation in polyps at baseline and the risk of developing MACL. This retrospective cohort study included 281 consecutive patients with colonic polyps who were enrolled between 2007 and 2009 and followed-up until 2014. MACLs were defined as adenomas of >10 mm, high-grade dysplasia, or with a villous component; and serrated lesions of >10 mm or with dysplasia. In total, 595 polyps were removed at baseline colonoscopy and analyzed for pathological characteristics and CpG island methylator phenotype (CIMP) using the MS-MLPA (Methylation-Specific -- Multiplex Ligation-dependent Probe Amplification) technique. Forty-five patients (16.0%) showed at least one CIMP+ polyp. MACL risk was higher in patients with CIMP+ polyps (odds ratio (OR), 4.50; 95% CI, 1.78–11.4; p = 0.002). Patients with CIMP+ polyps also exhibited shorter time to MACL development (33.8 months vs. 50.1 months; p < 0.001), even with adjustment for polyp size and number (OR, 2.40; 95% CI, 1.33–4.34). Adding CIMP analysis improved the sensitivity (57.0% to 70.9%), negative predictive value (71.1% to 77.3%), and overall accuracy (49.8% to 52.0%) for MACL risk estimation. These results highlight that CIMP may be a useful marker for endoscopic surveillance.

We have used a quantitative reverse transcription/polymerase chain reaction amplification technique to study the regulation of p75 mRNA and trkA mRNA expression in developing NGF-dependent trigeminal neurons. Before becoming NGF dependent, these neurons express low levels of p75 and trkA mRNAs in vivo. At this stage in vitro, the level of p75 mRNA is maintained and up-regulated by BDNF, whereas the level of trkA mRNA is sustained independently of neurotrophins and is down-regulated by BDNF. With the acquisition of NGF dependence, p75 and trkA mRNA levels increase markedly in vivo. At this stage in vitro, the level of p75 mRNA is up-regulated by NGF, but this response is lost at later stages. The level of trkA mRNA is sustained in neurons grown with NGF but is not up-regulated by concentrations of NGF above those required to support survival. At no stage during the early development of trigeminal neurons do depolarising levels of potassium ions affect the expression of either p75 mRNA or trkA mRNA. These findings suggest that the expression of p75 and trkA mRNAs are differentially regulated by BDNF and NGF at successive early stages of neuronal development.

Meat is one of food materials which has protein source and mostlyconsumed by non-vegetarian. Consuming halal food is an obligation for every Muslim. Meat processed products usually contaminated by pork. One of technique that is often chosen as an authentication process for proofing halalness of the product is PCR technique, one of PCR technique which most commonly used is RT-PCR. RT-PCR technique was chosen as identification method because it has high accuration for detection of porcine DNA in fresh meat and processed products. RT-PCR is the amplification technique in the specific regions that are restricted by two oligonucleotide with the help of polymerase enzymes. Annealing is the first process of RT-PCR analysis who was primary attachment to the DNA template that determines the specificity and amount of DNA produced. In this study, extraction kit and detection kit were used for analysis Porcine DNA in meatballs. The results obtained from this study were from whole DNA samples, which had DNA purity ranging from 1.82 to 1.93. From the all samples three of them containing porcine DNA. The positive samples shown from amplification curves who was specifically formed when probes reacts with porcine gene.

This paper describes design and calculation of an electrothermal V-shaped actuator (EVA) and an amplification mechanism integrated into a force measuring microsystem (FMMS), aims to apply for characterization of a micro beam. Displacement and driving force are generated by thermal expansion of the V-shaped silicon beams while applying a voltage to the electrodes of the EVA. ANSYS simulation helps to find out the relations between thermal force and displacement corresponding to driving voltage and determine the temperature of V-shaped beam at various applying voltages. In our simulation, with applying voltage Um = 38 volt for six pairs of V-shaped beam, the maximal temperature of the beam reaches approximately to 1100°C and causes a melting phenomenon of the silicon beam. The additional amplification mechanism allows actuator's displacement to be 6 times larger than before the improvement, thus the bending deformation of the micro beam can be seen perfectly, i.e. the force loading on the beam can be computed more exactly via a measured displacement of the beam tip. In addition, this FMMS has smaller size and supplies a larger beam's deformation at the same voltage in comparison with previous design.
