Behavior analysis of materials subjected to extreme demands remains a topical field for a wide range of engineering applications. The materials in discussion are in increasing numbers composites or layered materials, but homogeneous materials are not neglected either. The paper addresses the topic of a homogeneous metallic material subjected to shock loads. Two different thicknesses of alloy steel of known composition were used. Thicknesses used were of 4 mm and 6 mm respectively. After the loads were applied, the samples were cut in the direction of planes passing through the impact point; the microdurity was measured in the crosssection obtained and the medium microdurity areas were plotted. The obtained results allowed the identification of particularities in material behavior, in relation with the thickness, for the same values of the shock energy load and same shape of the penetrator.

Introduction. The final quality of products is formed during finishing operations, which include the grinding process. It is known that when grinding brittle materials, the cost of grinding work increases significantly. It is possible to reduce the scatter of product quality indicators when grinding brittle materials, as well as to increase the reliability and efficiency of the operation, by choosing the optimal parameters of the technological system based on dynamic models of the process. However, to describe the regularities of the removal of particles of a brittle non-metallic material and the wear of the surface of the grinding wheel in the contact zone, the known models do not allow taking into account the peculiarities of the process in which micro-cutting and brittle chipping of the material are combined. Purpose of the work: to create a new probabilistic model for removing the surface layer when grinding brittle non-metallic materials. The task is to study the laws governing the removal of particles of brittle non-metallic material in the contact zone. In this work, the removal of material in the contact zone as a result of microcutting and brittle chipping is considered as a random event. The research methods are mathematical and physical simulation using the basic provisions of the theory of probability, the laws of distribution of random variables, as well as the theory of cutting and the theory of a deformable solid. Results and discussion. The developed mathematical models make it possible to trace the effect on material removal of the overlap of single cuts on each other when grinding holes in ceramic materials. The proposed dependences show the regularity of stock removal within the arc of contact of the grinding wheel with the workpiece. The considered features of the change in the probability of material removal upon contact of the treated surface with an abrasive tool and the proposed analytical dependences are valid for a wide range of grinding modes, wheel characteristics and a number of other technological factors. The obtained expressions make it possible to find the amount of material removal also for schemes of end, flat and circular external grinding, for which it is necessary to know the amount of removal increment due to brittle fracture during the development of microcracks in the surface layer. One of the ways to determine the magnitude of this increment is to simulate the crack formation process using a computer. The presented results confirm the prospects of the developed approach to simulate the processes of mechanical processing of brittle non-metallic materials.

Property market forecasting is an integral element of decision-making. It is critical that property analysts employ a wide - range of models and techniques for property forecasting. These models have one overriding aim of predicting reasonable estimates of key dependent variables (demand, supply, rent, yield, vacancy and net absorption) based on the independent variables of core economic activities. However, a broad-fronted social, economic, technical, political and ecological evolution can throw up sudden, unexpected shocks that result in a possibility of sceptical to unknown risk factors. These structural changes decrease, even eliminate predictability of property market performance. Hence, forecasting beyond econometrics is raised as the research problem in this study. This study follows a qualitative research approach, conducting semi-structured interviews with open-ended questions. The primary data were collected from 22 property stakeholders within Australia. Structural changes framework in the built environment is developed and categorised under PESTEL (Political, Economic, Social, Technological, Environmental, and Legal) factors. This framework was developed theoretically and subjected to empirical validation and improvement. Property conversions, integrated property functions in a single location, ‘Give and Take’ effect in property markets, NABERS compliance could be seen as emerging structural changes in the Australian commercial property markets. The understanding of the impact on the property market will provide a subjective overlay to improve the econometric forecasts.

The current needs in terms of ballistic protection for armed forces require an almost constant improvement in performance to face the constantly evolving threats and scenarios. Ballistic tests are conventionally carried out in order to assess and validate the levels of protection. The challenge is to be able to set up a digital protocol and only carry out final validation tests. Indeed, the advantage of digital simulation lies in the possibility of being able to evaluate a wide variety of configurations. In order to obtain reliable results, it is necessary to use sufficiently precise material behavior models to transcribe the phenomena observed during the impact. Our study focuses on the behavior of a small caliber ammunition with a ductile core impacting personal protection. More particularly on the mechanical behavior of the lead alloy core. Thus, compression tests have been carried out on a wide range of deformation rates, from quasi-static behavior to dynamic regime, at different temperatures. The study in dynamic conditions was carried out using split Hopkinson pressure bars. Due to the material properties, the experimental device had to be adapted in order to optimize the propagation of the waves allowing to measure signals (elastic waves). These tests demonstrate the dependency of the stress with strain rate and temperature. Dynamic restoration and recrystallization phenomena, characteristic of a material deformed in its hot working area, have also been identified. The associated oscillations due to Pochhammer–Chree effect, observable on the stress–strain curves, constitute the major problem for the implementation of behavioral models. Finally, a constitutive model sensitive to strain rate and temperature is investigated for ballistic purposes.

Nowadays, the growing attention has focused on the sandwich-structured composites (panels), especially on those, which are environmentally friendly. The sandwich panel is a special type of the composites made of at least three layers: a core and a skin-layer bonded to each side. The aim of this paper is to investigate the possibility of using of perforated metallic materials for producing sandwich panels for the different application in the civil engineering. By using the perforated metallic materials in combination with different core materials or by using the perforated metallic material as the core material the wide range of products for the construction, damping or isolation purposes could be manufactured. In the paper the example of using of perforated metallic sheet materials for manufacturing the sandwich panels is proposed. Both, the simulation and experimental studies (mechanical testing) were carried out in order to assess the load-bearing capacity of sandwich panels and to prove the applicability of the proposed sandwich panels for construction structures. For the analysis of the achieved structures the finite element analysis (FEA) software was used. The simulation results are well-coincided with the results of the experimental studies. Thus, new types of the sandwich panels and the manufacturing technology thereof are shown its reliability and could be recommended for application in the different branches, in particular for producing lightweight ceiling panels with filler from heat insulating materials.

The article assesses the impact of various factors on the growth rate of international trade. Many experts interpreted the cross-border flows of goods decline against the backdrop of a growing global economy as an alarming sign that indicates a slowdown in the processes of globalization. To determine the reasons for the dynamics of international trade, the decompositions of its growth rate were carried out and allowed to single out the effect of the dollar exchange rate, the commodities prices and global value chains on the change in the volume of trade. As a result, it was discovered that the most part of the dynamics of international trade is due to fluctuations in the exchange rate of the dollar and prices for basic commodity groups. The negative contribution of trade within global value chains in 2014 was also revealed. During the investigated period (2000—2014), such a picture was observed only in the crisis periods, which may indicate the beginning of structural changes in the world trade.

The market of tobacco products in Ukraine is one of the most dynamic and competitive. It develops under the influence of certain factors that cause structural changes, therefore, the aim of the article is to conduct a comprehensive analysis of transformation processes in the market of tobacco and their alternatives in Ukraine and identify the factors that cause them. The high level of tax burden and the proliferation of alternative products with a potentially lower risk to human health, including heating tobacco products and e-cigarettes, are key factors in the market’s transformation process. Their presence leads to an increase in illicit turnover of tobacco products, which accounts for 6.37% of the market, and the gradual replacement of cigarettes with alternative products, which account for 12.95%. The presence on the market of products that are not taxed or taxed at lower rates is one of the reasons for the reduction of excise duty revenues. According to the results of 2019, the planned indicators of revenues were not met by 23.5%. Other reasons for non-fulfillment of excise duty revenues include: declining dynamics of the tobacco products market; reduction in the number of smokers; reorientation of «cheap whites» cigarette flows from Ukraine to neighboring countries; tax avoidance. Prospects for further research are identified, namely the need to develop measures for state regulation and optimization of excise duty taxation of tobacco products and their alternatives, taking into account the risks to public health and increasing demand of illegal products.

eamwork is becoming increasingly important to wide range of operations. It applies to all levels of the company. It is just as important for top executives as it is to middle management, supervisors and shop floor workers. Poor teamwork at any level or between levels can seriously damage organizational effectiveness. The focus of this paper was therefore to examine whether leadership practices consist of team leader behavior, conflict resolution style and openness in communication significantly influenced the team member’s satisfaction in hotel industry. Result indicates that team leader behavior and the conflict resolution style significantly influenced team member satisfaction. It was surprising that openness in communication did not affect significantly to the team members’ satisfaction.

The purpose. In the study we investigated the impact of the partial blood flow shutdown on structural changes in the rabbit vena cava posterior wall after exposure to high-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU). Methods. Ultrasound Exposure: frequency of 1.65 MHz, the ultrasound intensity in the focus of 13.6 kW/cm, the area of the focal spot 1 mm, continuous ultrasound, exposure for 3 seconds. Results. Immediately after HIFU exposure all layers of the vein wall showed characteristic signs of thermal damage. A week after exposure structural changes in the intima, media and adventitia was minimal in the part of vessel with preserved blood flow, and after 4 weeks the changes were not revealed. A week after HIFU exposure partial endothelium destruction, destruction of myocytes, disorganization and consolidation of collagen fibers of the adventitia were observed in an isolated segment of the vessel, and in 4 weeks endothelium restored and signs of damage in media and adventitia persisted, but were less obvious than in a week after exposure. Conclusion. The shutdown of blood flow after exposure to HIFU promotes persistent changes in the vein wall. Vein compression appears to be necessary for the obliteration of the vessel, when using HIFU-technology.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, healthcare workers (HCWs) have been subject to increased workload while also exposed to many psychosocial stressors. In a systematic review we analyze the impact that the pandemic has had on HCWs mental state and associated risk factors. Most studies reported high levels of depression and anxiety among HCWs worldwide, however, due to a wide range of assessment tools, cut-off scores, and number of frontline participants in the studies, results were difficult to compare. Our study is based on two online surveys of 2195 HCWs from different regions of Russia during spring and autumn epidemic outbreaks revealed the rates of anxiety, stress, depression, emotional exhaustion and depersonalization and perceived stress as 32.3%, 31.1%, 45.5%, 74.2%, 37.7% ,67.8%, respectively. Moreover, 2.4% of HCWs reported suicidal thoughts. The most common risk factors include: female gender, nurse as an occupation, younger age, working for over 6 months, chronic diseases, smoking, high working demands, lack of personal protective equipment, low salary, lack of social support, isolation from families, the fear of relatives getting infected. These results demonstrate the need for urgent supportive programs for HCWs fighting COVID-19 that fall into higher risk factors groups.
