Abstract Objectives The aim of this study was to assess the knowledge, attitude, and practices of ergonomics among dental graduates in Karachi. Materials and Methods A descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted at Altamash Institute of Dental Medicine from December 2019 to April 2020. The study was performed among 174 dental graduates (house officers) in Karachi, using a modified, validated, closed-ended questionnaire. For statistical analysis, SPSS software (version 21) was used for descriptive statistics such as percentages and frequencies. The tests applied were independent t-test and Pearson’s correlation to compare and check the correlation between the variables. The p-value used was ≤ 0.05. Results Among 200 dental graduates, only 174 responses were analyzed in SPSS version 21. Females (78.2%) were more in number than males (21.8%), with most of them aged >23 years (59.1%). Of the study population, 78.7% graduates worked 4 to 6 hours per day, and more than half of the graduates (58%) did not do physical exercise outside work. Furthermore, we found that the majority of responders had a fair knowledge of ergonomic principles, where a total of 134 (77%) dental graduates had a positive attitude towards its implementation, however this was not reflected in their practices as 128 (73.6%) graduates has poor practices related to ergonomics. It was also found that knowledge and practices of ergonomics had a weak but significant correlation (r = 0.263, p = 0.001). Moreover, males were more positive about implementing and practicing ergonomics then females with a significant association (p = 0.001). Conclusions A majority of the dental graduates (house officers) in this present study had a reasonable knowledge of ergonomics and its principles also showed positivity but an only small number of them practiced dental ergonomics. This study recommends the need for including dental ergonomics in the academic curriculum of clinical years of both dental undergraduate and postgraduate studies and also conducts workshops to develop faculty to reinforce its importance.

Background: Dengue is an endemic disease for Bangladesh with occasional outbreak. Little is known about the predictors of severe dengue. Methods: This cross sectional study was conducted in the medicine department of Dhaka Medical College from April 2019 to March 2020. Total 199 consecutive patients were enrolled in this study. For the purpose of the analysis, dengue fever was classified as group I and dengue hemorrhagic fever and dengue shock syndrome was classified as group II. Results: The mean (SD) age of the study population was 28.5(12.1) and 87.4% were less than 40 years of age. The male and female ratio was about 3:1. Among the total study population, 149(74.9%) patients had DF, 46 (23.1%) had DHF and only 4 (2%) had DSS on presentation. Baseline demography and clinical presentation did not significantly differ between classical dengue and severe dengue. Previous history of dengue had low association with severity (RR, 95%CI, phi, P value; 1.2, 1.04-1.40, 0.25, 0.001).Most of the laboratory parameters were similar between the groups. The number of platelet count was significantly lower in DHF and DSS [median (IQR) 43500(16500-95250], than DF [median (IQR) 65000(33000-1170000, p-value 0.01] Conclusion: Previous infection with dengue virus and decreasing platelet count are the predictors of the severe dengue. Our study aimed to investigate the influence of socio-demographic, knowledge, attitude, toward the change in driving behavior. This research was conducted with cross-sectional study design, during the period of December 2016 until April 2017. The research instrument used was a questionnaire from Driving Under the Influence of Drugs, Alcohol, and Medicines (DRUID) project with modification. The descriptive statistics and logistic regression analysis was used. Our research revealed that from 100 respondents, about 10% male was available to change to reported behavior in frequency driving than female. About 11% of respondents aged 35–67 years old decided to change in frequency driving. Approximately 14% of respondents with higher education level were changing in reported behavior of frequency driving. Reported behavior in frequency driving was influenced by information received from health care providers and attitude about the consequences of driving under the influence of impairing medicines factors (p-value 0.006 and 0.028). Changing reported behavior in frequency driving can be predicted by information received from health care providers and attitudes. In the future, we need to build effective communication and ensuring patients receive information about driving-impairing medicines.

Aim: The authors aimed to evaluate the experiences of the relatives of dying people, both in regard to benefits and special needs, when supported by a mobile palliative care bridging service (MPCBS), which exists to enable dying people to stay at home and to support patients' relatives. Design: A cross-sectional survey. Methods: A standardised survey was performed, asking 106 relatives of dying people about their experiences with the MPCBS (response rate=47.3%). Descriptive statistics were analysed using SPSS 23. Findings: Many relatives (62.5%) reported that their dying relations when discharged from a facility to stay at home were not symptom-free. The MPCBS helped relatives maintain home care, and this was reported to be helpful. Support provided by the MPCBS made it easier for 77.6% of relatives to adjust care as soon as situations changed, and helped ensure that symptoms could be better controlled, at least for 68.2% of relatives. Younger relatives felt more encouraged by the MPCBS to care for their relatives dying at home.

During the race for the development of a vaccine against COVID-19, even before its commercialization, part of the population has already shown a growing fear of its application. We designed an analytical cross-sectional study using an anonymous survey in the 25 departments of Peru. We surveyed whether the participants were planning on getting vaccinated, as well as other characteristics that were cross-checked in a uni-, bi- and multivariate manner. Of the 1776 respondents, 70% (1251) stated that they were planning to be vaccinated, 20% (346) did not know yet or doubted it, and 10% (179) did not want to be vaccinated. We observed that those who did not get infected with COVID-19 exhibited a higher frequency to not wanting or were uncertain about getting vaccinated (aPR: 1.40; 95% CI: 1.09–1.81; p-value = 0.008). In contrast, there was a lower frequency of vaccine refusal among university students (aPR: 0.75; 95% CI: 0.61–0.92; p-value = 0.005) and healthcare workers (aPR: 0.59; 95% CI: 0.44–0.80; p-value = 0.001); adjusted by place of residence. There is still an important percentage of respondents who do not want to be vaccinated or are hesitant to do it, which was associated with educational level, being a healthcare worker and if they were previously infected with COVID-19. Our results could offer useful information about COVID-19 vaccination campaigns.
