Consumers are the most direct stakeholders of food safety, and their effective participation is the key to the social Co-governance of food safety. Based on the specific behaviors of Chinese consumers participating directly and indirectly in the social Co-governance of food safety, using the data of 350 consumers’ behavior survey and factor analysis and cluster analysis, this paper extracts two kinds of behavior models of Chinese consumers participating in the social Co-governance of food safety, namely, consumption choices model and environment improvement model. It is found that Chinese consumers are inclined to adopt the “environment improvement” model at this stage, which is the inevitable result of the current food safety pressure in China. The government should formulate corresponding policies to better guide consumers to participate in the social Co-governance of food safety.

The purpose of this article is to analyze the social actions undertaken by Brazilian retail companies. The study is justified by the need to have an on-going assessment of actions of this nature, bearing in mind that over the last 15 years many retail companies have been developing many social initiatives. The empirical data were taken from the database of information recorded by the Centro de Excelência no Varejo, of the Fundação Getulio Vargas. In order to assess the data, an adaptation of the James Austin (2000) model was made. Analysis of the data was predominantly exploratory, and involved the descriptive analysis, factor analysis, and cluster analysis. It was also made the cross analysis of the clusters generated with some of the variables. The results indicated a strong relationship between the social and economic value generated by the actions of companies and characteristics relating to their size, partnerships and the geographic spread of the actions.

Some of the challenges that schools are currently facing include the stakeholders engagement, the necessity to open schools to the local territory and the need to be accountable for activities and results.

The Italian reform of the school system has required schools to overcome their self-referentiality and to make themselves more accountable to stakeholders. The social reporting process can be considered as an effective response to enable schools to become accountable, triggering fruitful stakeholder engagement processes and, at the same time, implementing a management tool.

This is an exploratory research paper. It aims to describe, through a questionnaire, the awareness and dissemination degree of social reporting in Public schools located in Southern Italy given the particularities of this area. Frequency percentage and descriptive statistical methods are used to interpret findings. Results show that, although social reporting is well known in theory, it is still under-used by schools in practice.

Subject. The article discusses the position of borderline areas of Southern Siberia in terms of the socio-economic development and geographical position. Objectives. We perform the comparative analysis of the regions’ position, determine the place and status of each borderline area, find identical regions in Russia in terms of the economic situation and difficulties. Methods. The study addresses the multivariate classification of data through the method of grouping and cluster analysis. Results. We suggest using the methodological approach to determining the status of the regions from three dimensions, i.e. social, economic and geographical, and apply some indicators, such as the ratio of average income per capita and the subsistence level for the social view, the real fiscal capacity for the economic view, and the density of the population (man per km2) for the spatial view. To present the data conveniently and clearly, we conducted the cluster analysis, set the dendrogram of the borderline areas of Southern Siberia. Conclusions. Determining the regions’ status by three anchors is more beneficial than traditional types of ranking and grouping, since it provides an unbiased view of the region, helps analyze the current socio-economic difficulties.

Subject. The article focuses on the self-motion of the Russian educational system. Objectives. The study determines directions of the self-evolution of the Russian educational system and shows the outcome. Methods. The study is based on the systems approach and statistical, neural network and cluster analysis. Results. I indicate what impedes the evolution and development of the Russian educational system. As a result of the neural network analysis of growth rates of the self-evolution of the Russian educational system and World Bank data, I figured out the hierarchy of material indicators of its structure. The hierarchy of the material indicators is declarative of the feminization of the Russian educational system in terms of its self-evolution, and the prevalence of women in the social reality. As a result of the cluster analysis of growth rates in the self-evolution of the Russian educational system, I revealed the cause of the feminization. Having analyzed growth rates of the self-evolution of the Russian educational system and referring to data of UNESCO Institute of Statistics, I completed a view of the future development of the Russian educational system. The self-evolution of the Russian educational system was found to have negative effects, such as a considerably slowed down growth in the number of younger schoolchildren and pre-school children, significantly lagging growth rates of governmental spending on education out of total governmental expenditures. Conclusions and Relevance. As the education system gets more and more important in the emerging world order, it is strategic for the national security. We witness the apparent feminization of the self-evolution of the Russian educational system, which changes principles of social development, paving the way to the predominance of women in the social reality. As the principles of the Russian society development change due to the feminization of the self-evolution of the Russian educational system, the uncertainty of its future existence grows even greater. The findings contribute to the required level of competence of governmental authorities to make administrative decisions that may save the Russian educational system.

Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to provide an analysis of the convergence of the social reporting guidelines available in Italy. Design/methodology/approach – The research is based on a documentary analysis of four selected social reporting guidelines provided by Italian institutions or translated in Italian. Findings – The results of the analysis point out that it is possible to identify an isomorphic convergence among the guidelines, though differences remain relevant and express peculiar institutional expectations on the behaviours of different typologies of organizations. Research limitations/implications – The study is limited to Italian social reporting guidelines; however, it provides a methodology which could be applied in different contexts. Practical implications – This study identifies the leading and primary issues in social reporting practices across different sectorial and methodological schemes. Social implications – The convergence of social reporting guidelines has a twofold implication: on one hand, social accountability is plastic issue, adaptable to different organization sectors and typologies; on the other, a common codification and commodification of social accountability is emerging. Originality/value – The article proposes a cross-sectorial analysis of social reporting methodologies, to identify analogies, differences and trends of institutionalization and standardization of this process.
