Abstract The lighting design in a residential building now-a-days is not only limited to general lighting but also it is focused to provide quality lighting with the help of wide range of available luminaire with different orientations as well as colours with efficient use of energy, that opens up accurate characteristics of specific areas in any room of the building. The affordable housings in many states are some of the examples of residential building where most of the flats in a typical floor are using conventional lighting systems which are not energy efficient and light level is low compared to standards. This paper is mainly focused to provide a budget friendly as well as energy efficient lighting design with the help of new and energy efficient lamps using DIALux Software, which can be proposed to renovate the existing conventional lighting systems. In this paper effort has been made to reduce the power consumption in all rooms and lux levels has been achieved as per standard values along with good amount of energy saving with the use of newer technologies.

Indoor Lighting design of different types of buildings is a very challenging and technology oriented work. Building lighting designing has specific rules and regulations and can be varied depending upon the designers choice. As per National Building Code of India, buildings can be classified according to the use or the character of occupancy in one of the nine groups. These are Group A_(Residential), Group B_(Educational), Group C_(Institutional),Group D_(Assembly ),Group E_(Business), Group F_(Mercantile), Group G_(Industrial) ,Group H_(Storage) and Group J_(Hazardous) types of buildings. With the reduction of energy consumption, there should not be any sacrifice in quality and quantity of light required as per the lighting codes. The shortage of Electrical energy is increasing gradually. As it is the energy source of lighting, the lighting designers should be more concerned about energy efficient lighting system design. LED consumes less power than the conventional luminaires & maintains almost the same lighting level. So, lighting designers are using LED luminaires into their designs now a days. Also, renewable energy sources driven lighting systems should be used. It will be environmental friendly also. A proper lighting design requires consideration of the amount of functional light level provided, the energy consumed and the aesthetic effect supplied by the lighting system. The electrical lighting systems should also consider the impacts of, and ideally be integrated with, daylighting systems. Building lighting design focuses on three fundamental aspects of the illumination of buildings or spaces. The first is the aesthetic appeal of a building. Secondly, the ergonomic aspect: the measure of how much of a function the lighting can achieve. Thirdly is the energy efficiency issue to ensure that light is not wasted by over-illumination, light pollution, by illuminating vacant spaces unnecessarily or by providing more light than needed for the aesthetics or the task.

The identification of a new generation of adaptive strategies for deep brain stimulation (DBS) will require the development of mixed hardware–software systems for testing and implementing such controllers clinically. Towards this aim, introducing an operating system (OS) that provides high-level features (multitasking, hardware abstraction, and dynamic operation) as the core element of adaptive deep brain stimulation (aDBS) controllers could expand the capabilities and development speed of new control strategies. However, such software frameworks also introduce substantial power consumption overhead that could render this solution unfeasible for implantable devices. To address this, in this work four techniques to reduce this overhead are proposed and evaluated: a tick-less idle operation mode, reduced and dynamic sampling, buffered read mode, and duty cycling. A dual threshold adaptive deep brain stimulation algorithm for suppressing pathological oscillatory neural activity was implemented along with the proposed energy saving techniques on an energy-efficient OS, YetiOS, running on a STM32L476RE microcontroller. The system was then tested using an emulation environment coupled to a mean field model of the parkinsonian basal ganglia to simulate local field potential (LFPs) which acted as a biomarker for the controller. The OS-based controller alone introduced a power consumption overhead of 10.03 mW for a sampling rate of 1 kHz. This was reduced to 12 μW by applying the proposed tick-less idle mode, dynamic sampling, buffered read and duty cycling techniques. The OS-based controller using the proposed methods can facilitate rapid and flexible testing and implementation of new control methods. Furthermore, the approach has the potential to become a central element in future implantable devices to enable energy-efficient implementation of a wide range of control algorithms across different neurological conditions and hardware platforms.

Excessive energy consumption of UHF tag is the bottleneck of energy saving in its wide range of applications. To address this issue, a lower power design for UHF RF CMOS circuits based on power consumption acuity is proposed in this paper. Through in-depth analysis of the static and dynamic power generation principle of UHF RF circuits in the work, the power consumption acuity can be calculated by using the correlation of circuit power and input vector. Subsequently, under the guide of this acuity, the UHF RF CMOS circuits with better energy saving can be designed. Furthermore, according to the performance indicators of EPC CIG2 UHF RFID in UHF identification, the corresponding circuit is designed and implemented. The test results show that the design of UHF RF circuit based on the acuity of power consumption can reduce 35%–40% power consumption.

he properly selected lighting for livestock farms is noted to ensure the optimal productivity of bred animals and poultry and to generate profit for the enterprise. (Research purpose) The research purpose is to substantiate the parameters of energy-saving lighting for agricultural premises and to develop methods for its calculation. (Materials and methods)  It has been shown that greenhouse farms most often use high and low pressure sodium lamps for lighting, but their spectrum only partially substitutes the natural one. It has been assumed that expanding the spectrum and approximating it to the solar one could improve product quality and yield. It has been stated that incandescent and fluorescent lamps are traditionally used to illuminate livestock and poultry premises, but they cannot create a lighting system with a «dawn - sunset» function, and their spectrum does not correspond to the full range perceived by animals and birds. It has been noted that the LED light sources’ functioning has such features that make the application of standard calculation methods impossible. We obtained formulas for calculating the light level and flux of photons. (Results and discussion) We provided examples of applying the energy-saving lighting systems developed by us in poultry houses with floor housing system, in cowsheds with tethered housing system and in an experimental phyto-laboratory for growing seedlings. It has been found that after replacing the lighting system based on DRL-125 lamps with a new one, with 36 nine-watt LED lamps, the power consumption decreased from 2,250 to 336 watts, the average light level increased and amounted to 90 lux, while the  illumination uniformity and color rendition improved. We have developed a resonant power supply system for LEDs to create lighting systems with a «sunrise - sunset» function. (Conclusions)  We have shown the possibility and provided examples of using the developed by us energy-saving controlled lighting systems based on LED light sources.

According to various years, five residential areas about 790 existing residential buildings samples are selected to investigate the basic building information and household power status. The investigation results show that power consumption has a significant correlation with temperature and income, consumptive habits of the resident, etc. Different community residents’ power consumption in almost three years increase year by year, and there are obvious differences for different communities. Summer and winter is peak of power consumption, especially in summer. Power consumption has obvious correlation with temperature. And this rule means the necessity of energy saving reconstruction for residential building. With of urban residents' income increasing, their energy-saving consciousness falls. Energy saving consciousness should be wide publicized.
