Kata kunci: Pelayanan antenatal, Ibu Hamil, Pengorbanan, Waktu, Moneter   Abstract Background: Maternal Mortality Rate (MMR) is one indicator of health development in Indonesia. Efforts to accelerate the reduction of MMR can be done by ensuring that every mother is able to access quality maternal health services. If antenatal care is utilized properly, maternal health can be monitored continuously from pregnancy to delivery. Methods: The study design was quantitative with a cross sectional study design. The population in this study were all pregnant women who had a gestational age of 7 to 9 months in Gowa Regency as many as 122 people. A sample of 93 people was taken using accidental sampling technique, the sample size was determined using the Slovin formula. Results: Perception of pregnant women towards the role of health workers in antenatal care based on monetary sacrifice did not show a correlation. Pregnant women who have a perception of small monetary sacrifice and say the role of health workers is lacking in antenatal care are 90.0%. Pregnant women who have a perception of monetary sacrifice are very small and say the role of health workers is less as much as 83.1%. While the perception of sacrifice of time shows a correlation with the role of health workers in antenatal care. Pregnant women who have the perception of sacrifice of big time and say the role of health workers lacking in antenatal care as much as 100%. Pregnant women who have a perception of great monetary sacrifice and say the role of health workers is lacking in antenatal care are 90.2%. Conclusion: Perception of pregnant women towards the role of health workers in antenatal care based on monetary sacrifice does not show correlation while based on time sacrifice shows there is correlation. Need to increase the speed of the process of pregnancy examination services for pregnant women by health workers. Keywords: Antenatal care, Pregnant Women, Sacrifice, Time, Monetary

Abstract Anemia is a global public health problem affecting women worldwide, and reproductive-age women are at increased risk. We conducted a population-based cross-sectional study analyzing the prevalence of overall anemia and anemia according to severity in Chinese pre-pregnant women to update current knowledge on anemia epidemiology. Based on the National Free Preconception Check-up Projects supported by the Chinese government, 5,679,782 women participating in this project in 2017 were included in this study. The cyanmethemoglobin method was applied to assess hemoglobin concentrations. Univariate and multivariate logistic regressions were applied for associated factors. The prevalence of anemia among Chinese pre-pregnant women was 21.64% (mild anemia: 14.10%, moderate anemia: 7.17%, severe anemia: 0.37%). The prevalence of overall and severe anemia was the highest in Tibet and the lowest in Beijing among 31 provinces. Women’s age, region, ethnic origin, educational level, occupation, and pregnancy history were all correlated with anemia. Women with B blood type (aOR=0.89), higher BMIs (overweight: aOR=0.84; obesity: aOR=0.70), and alcohol consumption (aOR=0.69) were less likely to have anemia, while those with rhesus negative blood type (aOR=1.10), history of anemia (aOR=2.60), older age at menarche (aOR=1.19), heavy menstrual blood loss (aOR=1.39), longer menstrual period (aOR=1.09) and shorter menstrual cycle (aOR=1.08) were more likely to suffer from anemia. Meat or egg eaters were not significantly associated with severe anemia. Anemia is of moderate public health significance among Chinese pre-pregnant women. Interventions should be considered to prevent anemia to the greatest extent possible to avoid potential harm in this population.

Abstract The objective was to investigate the association between emotional states with adequate fruit and vegetable consumption (FVC). This is a population-based cross-sectional study with 1,100 adults from a medium-sized city in Southern Brazil. Adequate FVC was defined as concomitant intake ≥ 3 fruits and ≥ 5 tablespoons of vegetables per day. Exposures were self-perception of nervousness/stress and minor psychiatric disorders (MPD). Data analysis used logistic regression. After controlling for demographic, socioeconomic and behavioral variables, adults reporting lack of nervousness/stress were twice more likely to report adequate FVC than those who reported it. Similarly, those reporting not having MPD symptoms were 52% more likely to have adequate FVC than those who did not. These effects increased and remained significant among women.

AbstractObjectiveTo investigate the association of seasonality with dietary diversity, household food security and nutritional status of pregnant women in a rural district of northern Bangladesh.DesignA cross-sectional study was conducted from February 2013 to February 2015. Data were collected on demographics, household food security (using the Household Food Insecurity Access Scale), dietary diversity (using the women’s dietary diversity questionnaire) and mid-upper arm circumference. Descriptive statistics were used to explore demographics, dietary diversity, household food security and nutritional status, and inferential statistics were applied to explore the role of seasonality on diversity, household food security and nutritional status.SettingTwelve villages of Pirganj sub-district, Rangpur District, northern Bangladesh.SubjectsPregnant women (n 288).ResultsSeasonality was found to be associated with dietary diversity (P=0·026) and household food security (P=0·039). Dietary diversity was significantly lower in summer (P=0·029) and spring (P=0·038). Food security deteriorated significantly in spring (P=0·006) and late autumn (P=0·009).ConclusionSeasons play a role in women’s household food security status and dietary diversity, with food security deteriorating during the lean seasons and dietary diversity deteriorating during the second ‘lesser’ lean season and the season immediately after. Interventions that aim to improve the diet of pregnant women from low-income, subsistence-farming communities need to recognise the role of seasonality on diet and food security and to incorporate initiatives to prevent seasonal declines.

Abstract Pneumonia is a leading cause of death among older adults. The effectiveness of oral care in preventing pneumonia in nursing homes and hospitals has been reported. However, in community-dwelling older adults, the role of denture cleaning in preventing pneumonia remains unknown. We aimed to investigate the association between infrequent denture cleaning and the risk of pneumonia in community-dwelling older adults. This cross-sectional study was based on the self-reported questionnaire targeting towards community-dwelling older adults aged ≥65 years. Responses of 71,227 removable full/partial denture users were included. The incidence of pneumonia within the last one-year and the frequency of denture cleaning (daily/non-daily) were treated as dependent and independent variables, respectively. The odds ratio (OR) and 95% confidence interval (CI) were calculated by the inverse probability weighting (IPW) method based on the logistic regression model. The mean age of the participants was 75.2 ± 6.5 years; 48.3% were male. Overall, 4.6% of the participants did not clean their dentures daily; 2.3% and 3.0% who did and did not clean their dentures daily, respectively, experienced pneumonia. After IPW, infrequent denture cleaning was significantly associated with pneumonia incidence (OR = 1.30, 95% CI = 1.01–1.68)). This study suggests that denture cleaning could prevent pneumonia among community-dwelling older adults.

Abstract Background: Iodine is an crucial micronutrient for fetal brain development, especially in the early stages of pregnancy. The level of knowledge about iodine among pregnant women has not been previously evaluated in Trabzon city where is an endemic area of iodine deficiency in the Blacksea region of Turkey. The aim of this study was to determine the level of knowledge about iodine nutrition during pregnancy among pregnant women living in an endemic goiter area of Turkey. Methods: One hundred fifty pregnant women between ages 19-45 years who applied to Gynecology and Obstetrics Clinic in Trabzon were recruited. This cross-sectional study was conducted with one hundred and fifty pregnant women between the ages of 19-45 who applied to Trabzon Gynecology and Obstetrics Clinic. Research data were collected using questionnaire forms and face-to-face interviews. The questionnaire form consisted of questions determining the sociodemographic characteristics of the participants, their previous pregnancy data, iodized salt consumption habits, and knowledge about iodine. Results: Although 68% of women know that iodine deficiency can cause serious consequences during pregnancy, about 30% did not know the problems caused by iodine deficiency. Three main dietary source of iodine in Turkey, fish, milk and dairy products and table salt are 68.0%, 20.0% and 77.3% of them correctly identified as good sources, respectively. The mean iodine knowledge score of the participants was 8.5±4.5. Higher educated pregnant women had significantly higher knowledge scores (p<.05). However, age, trimester, parity and those who had received information about iodine and iodine knowledge score between no significant differences (p>.05). Conclusion: This study revealed that lack of knowledge about iodine in pregnant women living in an endemic goiter area of Turkey. Furthermore, pregnants also had limited knowledge about the most important dietary iodine sources that can meet their daily iodine requirements. The necessity of public education initiatives to improve iodine knowledge in the pregnant population is evident for healthier future generations.

Abstract Background: The association between anthropometric and metabolic indices and fatty liver (FL) remain not fully elucidated. We aimed to determine the role of these anthropometric and metabolic indices on FL prediction and regulation via cross-sectional study, thus providing clues for further research in FL field. Methods: A total of 658 participants aged over 18 years were included in this study. Anthropometric and metabolic indices (including WC, WHR, BMI, BFM, VFA, TG/HDL, AST/ALT, SBP, DBP and FBG) were measured. Difference analyses, logistic and predictive analyses were used to evaluate the association and discrimination ability between these indices and FL. Results: Compared with non-FL, anthropometric and metabolic indices in FL and mild FL people showed a significant increase after adjustment. In the multivariate ranked logistic regression analysis, WC, TG/HDL, AST/ALT and FBG have a strong association with FL (β = 0.03, 0.19, 0.41, -1.89 and 0.28, P<0.05). And AST/ALT showed the lowest predicted power with an AUC of 0.22 among all indices. WC showed to be the best predictors with an AUC of 0.86 in participants. Conclusions: This is a comprehensive profile for FL related indices. These can enhance our understanding of the mechanisms for hepatic on inflammation and fat and is also important for the prevention and treatment of FL.
