Abstract Objectives Folate, iron, iodine, DHA, choline, zinc, vitamin A, D, B6 and B12 are key nutrients for supporting the baby's neurodevelopment from conception, throughout pregnancy and for the first two years of life. The objective of this study is to determine total estimated usual nutrient intakes and to identify nutrient gaps by comparing the intakes to corresponding Estimated Average Requirement (EAR) or Adequate Intake (AI), as well as the Tolerable Upper Intake Level (UL) in women of childbearing age (15–44 years). Methods Usual intake of nutrients from food and food + supplements were estimated using the National Cancer Institute method from 2 valid 24-hr dietary recalls among 4134 women aged 15–44 years (further grouped into 15–30 and 31–44 years) in NHANES 2011–16, a cross-sectional nationally representative health examination survey. Results The mean age of the sample population was 29.2 ± 0.3 years, with a majority non-Hispanic white (54.9%) and high income (55%, PIR > 1.85). The percentage of women that had usual intake from food less than the EAR was as follows (percentage for 15–30 year old followed by percentage for 31–44 year old): vitamin D (>97%, > 97%), vitamin E (92% ± 1.0%, 88% ± 1.4%), magnesium (62% ± 1.9%, 44% ± 1.8%), vitamin A (50% ± 2.3%, 44% ± 2.2%), calcium (49% ± 1.6%, 44% ± 1.9%), vitamin C (47% ± 2.2%, 46% ± 2.2%). The percentage of women that had total usual intake below the AI was approximately (percentage for 15–30 year old followed by percentage for 31–44 year old): choline (96%, 94%), dietary fiber (96%, 92%), potassium (66%, 68%), vitamin K (43%, 43%). Conclusions A significant percentage of the women of childbearing age are not meeting the dietary recommendations for vitamin A, D, E, K, C, magnesium, calcium, choline, potassium and dietary fiber. AbstractObjectiveConcern has recently been expressed about Pb levels in Pb-shot game meat. Our aim was to determine the consumption of game birds in a representative sample population in the UK, and in children and women of childbearing age in particular.DesignPopulation-based cross-sectional cohort study. Data from 4 d diet diaries from the UK National Diet and Nutrition Survey (NDNS; 2008–2010) were extracted to analyse data on game bird consumption in the sample population, in women of childbearing age (15–45 years old) and in children ≤6 years old.SettingHome-based study in representative areas of the UK.SubjectsParticipants in the NDNS (2008–2010; n 2126, age 1·5 to >65 years).ResultsFifty-eight participants (2·7 %) reported eating game birds. The mean intake was 19·5 (sd 18·1) g/d (median 15·6, range 1·3–92·9 g/d). In women of childbearing age (15–45 years), 11/383 (2·9 %) reported eating game birds, with a mean intake of 22·4 (sd 25·8) g/d (median 15·6, range 2·0–92·9 g/d). In children aged ≤6 years old, 3/342 (0·9 %) were reported as eating game birds, with a mean intake of 6·8 (sd 9·7) g/d (median 2·4, range 1·3–23·2 g/d).ConclusionsThe prevalence of consumption of game birds by women of childbearing age and children ≤6 years old was relatively low and intakes were small. However, any exposure to Pb in these two groups is undesirable. As are uncertainties about the ability of the diet diary method to capture the consumption of food items that are infrequently consumed, alternative methods of capturing these data should be used in future studies.

OBJECTIVE: The aim of this study was to investigate the association between anemia and vitamin A deficiency in women of childbearing age in Pernambuco, a state in the Brazilian Northeast. METHODS: A cross-sectional study was conducted making a secondary database analysis of"The Third State Survey on Health and Nutrition" done from May to September 2006. Data were collected from 761 women of childbearing age (10-49 years). RESULTS: The simultaneous occurrence of the two deficiencies was found in only seven women (0.9%). The prevalence of anemia was of 15.1%, and of vitamin A deficiency, 8.2%. There was no association between the two conditions (p=0.380), although a positive correlation was found between retinol levels and hemoglobin concentration (r=0.13). CONCLUSION: Anemia and vitamin A deficiency did not coexist. Anemia was considered a mild public health problem, while vitamin A deficiency was not considered an epidemiological problem.

The protective role of high high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) against cardiovascular risk has been questioned recently. Due to the increasing trend of cardiovascular diseases (CVD) in Tunisia, this study aimed to determine the prevalence of high HDL-C and its associated factors in Tunisian women of childbearing age. A cross-sectional survey was conducted among a subsample of 1689 women, aged 20 to 49 years, in the Great Tunis region. Data on socio-demographic and lifestyle factors were collected by a questionnaire. Overall adiposity was assessed by body mass index (BMI). All biological variables were assayed in blood samples coated with anticoagulant ethylene diamine tetra acetic acid (EDTA) by enzymatic methods. Stata software (2015) was used for data management and statistical analysis. High HDL-C values were recorded in 26.6% of selected women. After adjustment for all socio-demographic and lifestyle factors, age, hypertension, and smoking were negatively associated with high HDL-C levels, while family history of cancer was positively associated with high HDL-C in women. An additional investigation on the relationship between high HDL-C and cancer risk should be performed due to controversial results.

Abstract Objectives Nutrition during pregnancy is a critical dimension not only for women’s heath, but also for the offspring’s lifelong health. Very limited national data exist on the usual dietary intakes of pregnant women. The objective of this study was to estimate total usual nutrient intakes (from foods and dietary supplements) of pregnant women in the U.S. Methods Cross-sectional analysis of a nationally-representative sample of pregnant U.S. women, ages 20-40 years (n = 1,003) from NHANES 2001-2014. Total usual dietary intakes were estimated using the National Cancer Institute (NCI) method to adjust 2, 24-hour dietary recalls for within-person variation. Adherence with the Dietary Reference Intakes were used to assess the proportion at risk of inadequacy by the Estimated Average Requirement (%< EAR), assumed to be adequate by the Adequate Intake (% >AI), and at risk of excess by the Tolerable Upper Intake Level (% >UL). Results About 70% of pregnant women use a dietary supplement. Less than 5% of pregnant women have usual diets that are at risk for inadequate intakes of riboflavin (3%), niacin (1%), vitamin B12 (1%), iron (2%), phosphorus (< 0.5%), and selenium (< 0.5%). More pregnant women have usual intakes < EAR for vitamins A (15%), B6 (11%), folate (16%), C (11%), D (46%), E (43%), and minerals including copper (5%), calcium (13%), magnesium (47%) and zinc (11%). Few pregnant females have usual intakes >AI for potassium (2%) and choline (8%), whereas only 48% have vitamin K intakes >AI. The majority of pregnant women (95%) exceed the UL for sodium, while folic acid (34%), iron (28%), calcium (3%), and zinc (7%) were also of concern for intakes >UL. Conclusions Many U.S. pregnant women ( >10% < EAR or < 10% >AI) do not consume enough of key nutrients during pregnancy specifically vitamins A, C, D, E, K, B6, folate, and choline and minerals including potassium, calcium, magnesium, and zinc, while almost all are at risk of excessive consumption of sodium, and many at risk of excessive consumption of folic acid and iron. Improved dietary guidance to help pregnant women meet and not exceed dietary recommendations is warranted. Funding Sources Nestle Nutrition.

One of the contributors to maternal and infant mortality is the incidence of preeclampsia that occurs during pregnancy. The cause of preeclampsia is still unknown, but it is suspected that age and parity are one of the triggers for this occurrence. Women of childbearing age who are nulliparous with extreme age under the age of less than 20 years and women with the age of more than 35 years are most commonly found to have preeclampsia. The design in this study is analytic with a cross sectional approach. The population of all mothers giving birth in the delivery room of RSD Balung Jember was 3594 in 2019. The number of samples taken using non-random sampling by purposive sampling was finally obtained by 97 respondents. In this study, the independent variables were maternal age and parity, while the dependent variable was the incidence of preeclampsia. The instrument used is medical records. The data is processed by editing, coding, processing and cleaning processes. Data were analyzed using multiple logistic regression. The results of the chi-square test for the age variable obtained that the Pearson chi-square value was 0.019 and the p value = 0.000 <0.05 from these results Ho was rejected, and the parity variable the Pearson chi- square value was 0.019 and the p value = 0.000 <0.05 from these results Ho is rejected. In conclusion, there is a relationship between age and preeclampsia, and there is a relationship between parity and preeclampsia.

The First Thousand Days of Life, which is 270 days during pregnancy and 730 days in the first life of the baby, is a sensitive period because the problems that arise are permanent. The biggest problem that occurs in children is stunting (37.2%). In addition, one factor that supports the nutritional status of women of childbearing age who still experience Chronic Energy (20.8%). The best approach is to prepare the bridge and groom's nutritional status and increase knowledge about the First 1000 Days of Life. The purpose of this study is to determine the description of nutritional status of prospective brides based on knowledge about the First 1000 Days of Life. This research use qualitative method with cross sectional design with sampling accidental sampling within 1 week with result of 21 bride candidate. Result of nutritional status of bride candidate is normal (85,7%), while for knowledge about 1000 First Day of Life included in enough category (57,1%). Suggestion for the office of religious affairs is that on pre-marriage counseling is given material about the First 1000 Days of Life. Some extension materials about the motto of the card to healthy, calcium-containing foods and the suggestion to consume tablets added blood.

Abstract The purpose of this study analyze the relationship between the iodine content of salt consumption and the level of consumption of iodine levels in women of childbearing age UIE. The study was observational with cross sectional design. The research location in the village of Kebumen, Baturraden subdistrict, Banyumas. Subjects were 38 selected by simple random sampling technique. The consumption level of iodine was measured by the method of Food Recall 2x24 hours. Salt iodine content was measured by iodometric titration method and UIE levels measured by acid digestion method in the laboratory BP2GAKI Magelang. Data analysis using spearman correlation. A total of 71.1% women of childbearing age using the iodine content of salt consumption of <30 ppm. The consumption level of iodine less subject category (86.8%). UIE levels by an average of 156.50 μg/L category of normal iodine intake. There was no relationship with the iodine content of salt UIE levels (p=0.671). No correlation with levels of iodine consumption levels UIE (p=0.586). Levels of UIE women of childbearing age are not affected by the iodine content of salt and iodine consumption levels.   Keywords: Iodized salt, consumption levels, UIE   Abstrak   Tujuan penelitian ini adalah menganalisis hubungan kadar yodium konsumsi garam dan tingkat konsumsi kadar yodium pada wanita usia subur UIE. Penelitian ini bersifat observasional dengan rancangan cross sectional. Lokasi penelitian di desa Kebumen, Kecamatan Baturraden, Banyumas. Subjek penelitian dipilih dengan teknik simple random sampling. Tingkat konsumsi yodium diukur dengan metode Food Recall 2x24 jam. Kandungan garam yodium diukur dengan metode titrasi iodometrik dan tingkat UIE yang diukur dengan metode pencernaan asam di laboratorium BP2GAKI Magelang. Analisis data menggunakan korelasi spearman. Sebanyak 71,1% wanita usia subur menggunakan kandungan yodium konsumsi garam <30 ppm. Tingkat konsumsi kategori subjek kurang yodium (86,8%). Tingkat UIE rata-rata 156,50 μg / L kategori asupan yodium normal. Tidak ada hubungan dengan kadar yodium kadar garam UIE (p = 0,671). Tidak ada korelasi dengan tingkat kadar konsumsi yodium UIE (p = 0,586). Tingkat wanita UIE pada usia subur tidak terpengaruh oleh kadar yodium tingkat konsumsi garam dan yodium.  Kata kunci: garam beryodium, tingkat konsumsi, UIE

Background: According to the World Health Organization (WHO), Indonesia is one of the ten countries with the most significant number of measles cases in the world. Immunization coverage in Trenggalek Regency has reached the target of prevention of measles in the elimination stage, namely measles immunization coverage> 95%, the incidence of measles persists and increases in the last three years, from 2013 to 2015. Purpose: This study aimed to evaluate the trends between measles immunization status and the provision of vitamin A with the incidence of measles in Trenggalek Regency. Methods: This type of research is an observational study with a cross-sectional study design. The sample population is consist of 14 sub-districts in Trenggalek Regency. Data was taken from the health profile of Trenggalek Regency in 2013, 2014, and 2015. In this study, data processing were analysed by Health Mapper application version 4.3.0.0 with product version 4.03 to determine data descriptively. Results: Distribution of measles incidence with immunization coverage in Trenggalek Regency in 2013, 2014, and 2015 showed that measles incidence tended to increase followed with the decreasing number of measles immunization coverage each year. Ironically, the distribution of measles incidence with vitamin A administration in 2013, 2014, and 2015 showed the incidence of measles had increased because of the inconsistent amount of vitamin A administration. Conclusion: Measles incidence tends to occur in low immunization coverage areas and has decreased from the previous year. Giving vitamin A does not prevent the occurrence of measles, but serves to reduce compilation.

<p>HIV infection in pregnant women can threaten the life of the mother and the mother can transmit the virus to their babies. Sleman PHC registered 2 people including one pregnant woman and one women of childbearing age in the year of 2014. Incidence of pregnant women suffering from HIV-AIDS in 2014 is 1 patients and detected from PITC test results for 7 weeks in a row is 1 patient. And in January year of 2015 found 1 patient with 3 times test and the results was positive. The purpose of this study was to determine relationship between Knowledge Level of Pregnant women about HIV/AIDS and Behaviour of PITC (Provider Initiated Test and Counselling) test. This study was a quantitative analysis of correlation with cross-sectional design. The population of this study were all pregnant women checkups at the health center in Yogyakarta Sleman. The sampling technique was used accidental sampling study which consisted of 72 respondents. The analysis used univariate and bivariate. The results showed that most respondents aged 20-35 (72.2%), senior high school education (47.2%) and work as a housewife (IRT) (38.9%). Most respondents have good knowledge about HIV/AIDS were 50 respondents (69.4%). Most respondents perform checks PITC were 71 respondents (98.6%). There was no relationship between knowledge level of pregnant women about HIV/AIDS and Behaviour of PITC (p-value=0.243&gt;0.005). In Conclusion, There was no relationship between knowledge level of pregnant women about HIV/AIDS and Behaviour of PITC in Sleman, Yogyakarta.</p>
