When analyzing the results of an experiment, the mental focus on a specific hypothesis might prevent the exploration of other aspects of the data, effectively blinding one to new ideas. To test this notion, we performed an experiment in which we asked undergraduate students to analyze a fictitious dataset. In addition to being asked what they could conclude from the dataset, half of the students were asked to also test specific hypotheses. In line with our notion, students in the hypothesis-free group were almost 5 times more likely to observe an image of a gorilla when simply plotting the data, a proxy for an initial step towards data analysis. If these findings are representative also of scientific research as a whole, they warrant concern about the current emphasis on hypothesis-driven research, especially in the context of information-rich datasets such as those now routinely created in the biological sciences. Our work provides evidence for a link between the psychological effect of selective attention and hypothesis-driven data analysis, and suggests a hidden cost to having a hypothesis when analyzing a dataset.

Science by its very nature is interdisciplinary and scientific research relies on the collaborative skills and expertise of researchers across the disciplines. Yet, science as taught in the university classroom is usually compartmentalised into separate subjects. Most undergraduate students are not exposed to the excitement and challenge of connecting the concepts, skills and processes learnt within these distinct disciplines until they enter the laboratory as an honours student. Indeed, opportunities for problem-solving, novel application of concepts, articulation of the broader impacts and societal benefits of scientific research and understanding are not usually explicitly designed and scaffolded as an integral part of the university syllabus, but these lifelong skills are essential for scientific thinking. Furthermore, one of the most crucial elements that nurtures scientists? engagement and creativity is seldom considered an essential component of the curriculum ? the interaction with local, national and international peer communities to share, to receive feedback and to foster new ideas and collaborations. Considered from a holistic perspective, many academics tend to focus on content, while the process of scientific inquiry is peripheral to the formal syllabus. The scholarship of teaching and learning brings the focus back to inquiry thinking and learning, by prompting academics to critically engage with the pedagogical process.

Humans are the perfect creation of Allah SWT. It lies within their mind. Moreover, they also have the brain as a control center for all human activities. This article aims to explain the concepts of al-quran and neuroscience as well as the study of the brain and mind in al-quran and neuroscience. The approach used was qualitative of Creswell model library research. Data sources were obtained from the literature in the fields of the brain and mind, al-quran and neuroscience. Data collection techniques had used Sugiyono model. The data analysis technique had used Moleong analysis model. The results of this study indicated that if humans use their brains and mind to think properly and correctly, they would be able to provide and to create new ideas in solving various problems. After humans are even more aware, they would increase the faith and devotion to Allah.

The management of writing a scientific papers we already know has important chapters in the writing. And have a way of choosing in a variety of methods. There are problems in this study, namely the absence of the use of research methods in scientific-rich management. Then one of them is needed by multivariate data analysis management to become one of the methods in writing scientific papers. Multivariate data is data collected from two or more observations by measuring these observations with several characteristics. There are 2 (two) methods in multivariate data, namely dependency and interdependence methods. Dependency analysis functions to explain or predict dependent variables by using two or more independent variables. Focused on the dependency method there are 9 (nine) classifications. It is expected that the multivariate data analysis management can help writers to use scientific research methods well and be able to analyze the influence of several variables on other variables at the same time

The objective of the study is to support students in the rational, logical, and analytical process that they perform when faced with a scientific problem. This study uses qualitative methodology as its purpose is to present the strategy as learning stemming from the process of analysis, which is rooted on how to detect scientifically the research problem in the field of social sciences. A statistical analysis is made on the use and application of the diagram in a sample of 27 undergraduate students who have used the situational map in the elaboration of their theses. The trend shows that 92.6% of respondents achieved concluding their research processes of thesis work, at the planned time, and their results were consistent with their hypothesis and/or purposes. The creation of this strategy is a support for students, who have not developed their ability to think critically and establish relationships between concepts and theories in the execution of scientific research.

The purpose of this study (1) The factors that cause speech delay in early childhood (2) The treatment given by Permata Diakonia and parents? (3) The impact of speech therapy performed by Permata Diakonia using the AAC (Augmentative Alternative Communication) method. Methods: This study used a case study method with one child data analysis used qualitative data analysis with Miles and Huberman methods. Results: Sensory therapy that was given every day since the child was diagnosed late speaking had a very significant impact on the child's environmental response. A good response to this environment is a sign that the child can be given speech therapy using the AAC method which is given twice a week. From this study, it can be concluded that speech therapy using the AAC method significantly improves children's speaking ability. It should be noted that the key to success in this therapy is not changing therapists. Implication: speech therapy using the AAC method has implications for new ideas that will give  new ideas to new approaches to enrich speech therapy. Keywords: speech delay, sensory integration therapy, and speech therapy, AAC

Theoretical and practical classes were offered in the university labs of Universidade Federal Fronteira Sul –UFFS (Chapecó, Santa Catarina State, Brazil) in order to promote the contact of students and teachers of public schools with the university. In this context, it was possible to put the students in contact with procedures, equipments scientific and teaching practices in the areas of Biological Sciences. These activities aimed at improving learning and stimulating the students from the schools in which were part of the academic and scientific community, and as a result, to promote the interaction between university and public schools. Fifteen student groups took part in the project, which totaled around 320 students who had lessons on microscopy, cells and tissues, blood typing and biological decomposition of organic food. This project encouraged students that had a previous contact with the world of science to enter university. In addition, the teachers who accompanied the students were encouraged to continue being creative in their classes. For the undergraduate students involved, the project enabled personal growth and encouraged them to develop skills beyond what they were taught in the classroom.
