AbstractThe control of arboviruses carried by Aedes aegypti (Linnaeus) and Aedes albopictus (Skuse) can be performed with tools that monitor and reduce the circulation of these vectors. Therefore, the efficiency of four types of traps in capturing A. aegypti and A. albopictus eggs and adults, with the biological product Vectobac WG®, was evaluated in the field. For this, 20 traps were installed in two locations, which were in the South (Londrina, Paraná) and North (Manaus, Amazonas) Regions of Brazil, from March to April 2017 and January to February 2018, respectively. The UELtrap-E and UELtrap-EA traps captured A. aegypti and A. albopictus eggs: 1703/1866 eggs in Londrina, and 10268/2149 eggs in Manaus, respectively, and presented high ovitraps positivity index (OPI) values (averages: 100%/100% in Londrina, and 100%/96% in Manaus, respectively); and high egg density index (EDI) values (averages: 68/75 in Londrina, and 411/89 in Manaus, respectively), so they had statistically superior efficiency to that of the CRtrap-E and CRtrap-EA traps in both regions, that captured less eggs and adults: 96/69 eggs in Londrina, and 1091/510 eggs in Manaus, respectively. Also presented lower OPI values (averages: 28%/4% in Londrina, and 88%/60% in Manaus, respectively); and lower EDI values (averages: 10.5/9 in Londrina, and 47/30 in Manaus, respectively). The capture ratios of Aedes adults in the UELtrap-EA and CRtrap-EA traps in Londrina and Manaus were 53.3%/29.5% and 0%/9.8%, respectively. UELtrap-E and UELtrap-EA can be adopted as efficient tools for Aedes monitoring due to their high sensitivity, low cost and ease of use.Author summaryAedes aegypti and Aedes albopictus are species of mosquitoes responsible for the transmission of several arboviruses that cause infections worldwide. However, there are still no effective and safe vaccines or medications to prevent or treat arboviruses transmitted by these vectors, except for yellow fever. Moreover, current methodologies for monitoring and controlling A. aegypti and A. albopictus are not fully effective, as evidenced by the increasing cases of the arbovirus transmitted by these mosquitoes or have incompatible costs with the socioeconomic conditions of a large number of people. Thus, the traps tested in this study can be used as more effective and economical tools for monitoring and controlling A. aegypti and A. albopictus, since they are made with low cost material and they showed high efficiency in the capture of eggs, evidenced by the high values of ovitraps positive index and eggs density index, besides that one of the models captured Aedes spp. adults in both regions where they were tested. Therefore, the traps have potential for reducing Aedes spp. eggs and adults in the environment and sensibility for determining the local infestation index, which can be reconciled with official government strategies for more accurate vector monitoring and control actions.

Resumo. Aedes aegypti (Linnaeus)é o vetor dos vírus dengue, febre amarela urbana e Zika vírus nas Américas. Aedes albopictus (Skuse)tem maior ocorrência em mata nativa e secundária junto às populações. Esses mosquitos veiculam também o vírus chikungunya. O objetivo desse estudo foi avaliar a eficácia e preferência de oviposição em armadilhas ovitrampas, instaladas em locais abrigados com diferentes misturas atrativas, sob condições distintas de luminosidade e fluxo de pessoas para ser usada na vigilância e controle de Aedes spp. Foram instaladas 75 armadilhas no campus da Universidade Estadual de Londrina Paraná, distribuídas em três centros de estudo: Centro de Ciências Biológicas (CCB), Biblioteca Central (BC) e Centro de Estudos Sociais Aplicados (CESA), que receberam cada um, 25 ovitrampas, no período de Março a Junho de 2012. As armadilhas receberam cinco diferentes misturas atrativas: infusão de água fenada (Iaf), água destilada, (Iaf) + Bacillus thuringiensis var. israelensis Berliner, (Iaf) + organofosforado Temephos, (Iaf) + regulador de crescimento Diflubenzuron. Todo o experimento foi realizado em 5 réplicas. Coletou-se 4.774 ovos. No (CCB) foram 436 ovos (9,23%) com Índice de Positividade de Ovitrampas (IPO) = 43,08% e Índice de Densidade de Ovos (IDO) = 15,75. No (CESA) 638 ovos (13,35%), IPO = 58,46% e IDO = 16,79. Na (BC) 3.700 ovos (77,42%), IPO = 83,08% e IDO = 68,51. Não ocorreram diferenças significativas pelo teste de Kruskal-Wallis (p = 0,92) para os diferentes atrativos nas ovitrampas. Atrativos e produtos seletivos para o controle de Aedes spp. na ovitrampa não mostraram prejuízos para oviposição.Effectiveness of Ovitraps with Different Attractives in the Monitoring and Control of AedesAbstract. Aedes aegypti (Linnaeus) is the vector of dengue viruses, urban yellow fever and Zika virus in the Americas. Aedes albopictus (Skuse) has higher incidence in native and secondary forest next the populations. These mosquitoes also convey the chikungunya virus. The aim of this study was to evaluate the efficacy and oviposition preference in ovitraps traps installed in sheltered places with different attractive mixtures, under different lighting conditions and flow of people to be used in monitoring and control of Aedes spp. Were installed 75 traps on campus of the State University of Londrina-Paraná, distributed in three study centers: Centre for Biological Sciences (CCB), Central Library (CL) and Applied Social Studies Center (ASSC), which each received 25 ovitraps in the period from March to June 2012. The traps received five different attractive mixtures: infusion of water made into hay (Iaf), distilled water (Iaf) + Bacillus thuringiensis israelensis Berliner (Iaf) + organophosphate temephos, (Iaf) + growth regulator Diflubenzuron. The experiment was carried out in 5 replicates. Collected: 4,774 eggs. On (CCB) were 436 eggs (9.23%) with Positivity Index of Ovitraps (PIO) = 43.08%, and Eggs Density Index (EDI) = 15.75. On (ASSC) 638 eggs (13.35%), PIO = 58.46% and EDI = 16.79. On (CL) 3,700 eggs (77.42%), PIO = 83.08% and EDI = 68.51. There were no significant differences by Kruskal-Wallis test (p = 0.92) for the different attractive on ovitraps. Attractive and selective products for Aedes spp. control in egg trap do not show damage to oviposition.

As the development of IoT technologies has progressed rapidly recently, most IoT data are focused on monitoring and control to process IoT data, but the cost of collecting and linking various IoT data increases, requiring the ability to proactively integrate and analyze collected IoT data so that cloud servers (data centers) can process smartly. In this paper, we propose a blockchain-based IoT big data integrity verification technique to ensure the safety of the Third Party Auditor (TPA), which has a role in auditing the integrity of AIoT data. The proposed technique aims to minimize IoT information loss by multiple blockchain groupings of information and signature keys from IoT devices. The proposed technique allows IoT information to be effectively guaranteed the integrity of AIoT data by linking hash values designated as arbitrary, constant-size blocks with previous blocks in hierarchical chains. The proposed technique performs synchronization using location information between the central server and IoT devices to manage the cost of the integrity of IoT information at low cost. In order to easily control a large number of locations of IoT devices, we perform cross-distributed and blockchain linkage processing under constant rules to improve the load and throughput generated by IoT devices.

Due to the importance of the environment on animal production and thus environmental control, the study aims to build a system for monitoring and control the meteorological variables, temperature and relative humidity, low cost, which can be associated with an evaporative cooling system (ECS). The system development included all the stages of assembly, test and laboratory calibration, and later the validation of the equipment carried in the field. The validation step showed results which allowed concluding that the system can be safely used in the monitoring of these variables. The controller was efficient in management of the microclimate in the waiting corral and allowed the maintenance of the air temperature within the comfort range for dairy cattle in pre-milking with averaged 25.09 ºC during the afternoon. The equipment showed the lower cost (R$ 325.76) when compared to other middle market (R$ 450.00).

Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) is a disease caused by Dengue virus. In 2016, the number of DHF patients in areas of Health services of Rowosari was 247 cases, IR 289.6/100.000 populations and the highest number of the patients was from Meteseh Village. The most usual mechanism happened in the vertical transmission, transovarial infection, from adult mosquito to the egg. The study was conducted to describe of entomological status of House Index (HI), Container Index (CI), Breteau Index (BI), House index (HI), Ovitrap Index (OI) of larvae as well as transovarial infection in Aedes sp. The research method was descriptive method by conducting test to the entomology status of DHF incidence. Based on the survey in Meteseh sub-village (XVI), a result found that average House Index 8.99%, Container Index 2.88%, Breteau Index 16.40%, HI 8,99 Ovitrap Index 35.46% with the egg density at 1.023 eggs. The identified mosquitoes were 30, and from the identification result of Aedes sp., two Aedes species were found, 28 Aedes aegypti,and only 2 Aedes albopictus. The transovarial infection in Aedes sp. using ELISA method was found 6 mosquito samples which were positive of dengue virus, with the detail in neighborhood 01 (1 sample), neighborhood 02 (2 samples), neighborhood 03 (3 samples). DHF in Meteseh Sub village in Semarang City was probably happened because correlated with transovarial infection.

Irrigation systems are becoming increasingly important, owing to the increase in human population, global warming, and food demand. This study aims to design a low-cost autonomous sensor interface to automate the monitoring and control of irrigation systems in remote locations, and to optimize water use for irrigation farming. An internet of things-based irrigation monitoring and control system, employing sensors and actuators, is designed to facilitate the autonomous supply of adequate water from a reservoir to domestic crops in a smart irrigation systems. System development lifecycle and waterfall model design methodologies have been employed in the development paradigm. The Proteus 8.5 design suite, Arduino integrated design environment, and embedded C programming language are commonly used to develop and implement a real working prototype. A pumping mechanism has been used to supply the water required by the soil. The prototype provides power supply, sensing, monitoring and control, and internet connectivity capabilities. Experimental and simulation results demonstrate the flexibility and practical applicability of the proposed system, and are of paramount importance, not only to farmers, but also for the expansion of economic activity. Furthermore, this system reduces the high level of supervision required to supply irrigation water, enabling remote monitoring and control.

This paper presents the development of a cost-effective automatic system for greenhouse environment control. The architectural and functional features were analyzed in the context of the realization of a controlled-environment agricultural system through all its stages: installation, deployment of the software, integration, maintenance, crop control strategy setup and daily operation of the grower. The proposed embedded platform provides remote monitoring and control of the greenhouse environment and is implemented as a distributed sensing and control network integrating wired and wireless nodes. All nodes were built with low-cost, low-power microcontrollers. The key issues that were addressed include the energy-efficient control, the robustness of the distributed control network to faults and a low-cost hardware implementation. The translation of the supervisory growth-planning information to the operational (control network) level is achieved through a specific architecture residing on a crop planning module (CPM) and an interfacing block (IB). A suite of software applications with flows and interfaces developed from a grower-centric perspective was designed and implemented on a multi-tier architecture. The operation of the platform was validated through implementation of sensing and control nodes, application of software for configuration and visualization, and deployment in typical greenhouses.

The concepts of effluent irrigation and aerobic composting of organic solid wastes are not new, but the meat industry in New Zealand has developed these concepts further in recent years for effective treatment and recovery of resource in meat processing wastes. Significant advances have been made in developing design, operation, monitoring and control of these low-cost simple technologies, which are well suited for the treatment and utilization of meat industry wastes in New Zealand. The feasibility of utilizing these high-strength organic wastes for organic farming has been demonstrated.

This paper presents a framework for developing a universal network infrastructure that would allow web-based monitoring and control of industrial processes, research facilities, and academic experiments. Internet technology is used here for its versatility, wide availability, and relative low cost. The main element of the infrastructure is a web-server, which connects to multiple control-servers, which in turn are connected to various processing modules within a local industrial facility, Since the web-server is the system centerpiece, which provides smooth information flow, a robust, intelligent, and autonomous scheduling scheme is required. Once such infrastructure is established, remote users in an academic or research environment, or in an industrial environment will be able to carry out a variety of tasks including experiments, monitoring and supervision, process scheduling and reconfiguration, using a web-browser. The flexibility and modularity of the developed networked infrastructure provide the rationale for implementing a multi-level hierarchical monitoring and control structure for a process. The usefulness of such a hierarchical structure is demonstrated through an application example on an industrial fish processing machine, which incorporates intelligent adaptive control.

In order to provide a simplified and low-cost solution of the terminal for a distributed actuation system, this paper proposes an electro-hydrostatic actuator (EHA) based on the linear drive principle. The proposed actuator is directly driven by a linear pump with a collaborative rectification mechanism, whose performance relies on the collaboration of the internal two units. A pair of linear oscillating motors are employed to drive the two pump units respectively. The control of the actuator is based on the modulation of the oscillating amplitude, frequency, and phase difference of the two motors. The advantage of this actuator is that no more valve control is needed to rectify the linear pump besides the high efficiency of the direct pump drive. In this paper, both schematic and detailed structure of the actuator is presented. The kinematic and dynamic characteristics are analyzed and modeled, based on which the control method is proposed. The experiments verify the validity of the actuator structure and control.
