Successful biodiversity cultivated in freshwater fish is farmed whitefish, tiger shrimp, vannamei shrimp and. While the grouper duck (Cromileptes Mozambique) export market prospects have never tried. This research would like to know how the seed of acclimatization grouper duck into fresh water against the survival rate and growth response. Using random design complete 5 x 4 treatment, seed samples with long range 12 cm, weight 22 gr. Acclimatization of habitat in salinity of 30 ppt ppt 4. Moderate decrease in salinity 0.0 A0 is the ppt/day (controls), A0,5 (0.5 ppt/day), A1 (1 PPT/day), A1.5 (1.5 ppt/day), and A2 (2 ppt/day). Data were analyzed with the survival rate of the t test (P ≤ 0.05) the results show a decrease in salinity of 0.5 ppt/day 35% real different with controls 92.5%, but is superior than the three other treatments (A1, A1.5 and A2) dead all before reaching 4 ppt. While the growth rate data were analyzed with anova followed duncan test (P ≤ 0.05) the results show A0.5 0.60% no different with real control of 0.61% real but different (fastest) compared to three other treatments (A1, A1.5 and A2). The conclusion is grouper duck capable cultivated in brackish water 4 ppt (mesohalin) through acclimatization with decreased salinity of 0.5 ppt/day.

<p>The pacu (<bold>Piaractus mesopotamicus</bold>) is a neotropical freshwater fish. It is one of the most important species farmed in areas of the Parana and Paraguay Rivers basins. The effects of different rearing protocols on growth, survival and incidence of skeletal malformations in pacu larvae were analyzed. A total of six experimental treatments were considered, consisting of: a semi-intensive larviculture (L<sub>S</sub>) in ponds; intensive larviculture (L<sub>In</sub>) in laboratory (both L<sub>S</sub> and L<sub>In</sub> until 60 days of life); and mixed larviculture, with 20 days of semi-intensive larviculture into cages in ponds after 14 (L<sub>1</sub>), 21 (L<sub>2</sub>), 33 (L<sub>3</sub>) or 40 (L<sub>4</sub>) days of laboratory larviculture. At the end of the experimental period, L<sub>S</sub>larvae showed higher growth rate, with average weight values (2.28g) and total length (TL-48.20mm) statistically higher than the rest (P<0.05). L<sub>1</sub> to L<sub>4</sub> treatments showed intermediate growth values, without differences between them (P>0.05), while L<sub>In</sub> presented the lowest growth (P<0.05). Survival was around 75% in all experimental groups, except L<sub>S</sub>, that presented a significantly lower value (17.5%, P<0.05). Skeletal abnormalities were detected in all experimental treatments, but L<sub>In</sub> and L<sub>1</sub> presented the lowest incidence. In no case, visible morphological alterations were found. This study shows that prolonging pacu rearing under laboratory conditions at high densities improves temporal availability and survival of juvenile without affecting growth or subsequent osteological development of fish.</p>

AbstractWhen a layer of particle-laden fresh water is placed above clear, saline water, both Rayleigh–Taylor and double diffusive fingering instabilities may arise. For quasi-steady base profiles, we obtain linear stability results for such situations by means of a rational spectral approximation method with adaptively chosen grid points, which is able to resolve multiple steep gradients in the base state density profile. In the absence of salinity and for a step-like concentration profile, the dominant parameter is the ratio of the particle settling velocity to the viscous velocity scale. As long as this ratio is small, particle settling has a negligible influence on the instability growth. However, when the particles settle more rapidly than the instability grows, the growth rate decreases inversely proportional to the settling velocity. This damping effect is a result of the smearing of the vorticity field, which in turn is caused by the deposition of vorticity onto the fluid elements passing through the interface between clear and particle-laden fluid. In the presence of a stably stratified salinity field, this picture changes dramatically. An important new parameter is the ratio of the particle settling velocity to the diffusive spreading velocity of the salinity, or alternatively the ratio of the unstable layer thickness to the diffusive interface thickness of the salinity profile. As long as this quantity does not exceed unity, the instability of the system and the most amplified wavenumber are primarily determined by double diffusive effects. In contrast to situations without salinity, particle settling can have a destabilizing effect and significantly increase the growth rate. Scaling laws obtained from the linear stability results are seen to be largely consistent with earlier experimental observations and theoretical arguments put forward by other authors. For unstable layer thicknesses much larger than the salinity interface thickness, the particle and salinity interfaces become increasingly decoupled, and the dominant instability mode becomes Rayleigh–Taylor-like, centred at the lower boundary of the particle-laden flow region.

Hematological and some biochemical contents of the blood in relation to physico-chemical characteristics of the water have been studied in the fresh water fish, Notopterus notopterus. The results indicated that normal values have been found in comparison to the studies carried out in other fishes. Hence, the fish Notopterus notopterus is having favorable environmental temperature, pH and dissolved oxygen required for the fish to survive and regulate breeding activities.

Six different types of secretory cells were identified by light and electron microscopy in the adenohypophyseal pars distalis of yearling coho salmon acclimated to fresh or salt water. Prolactin cells are markedly more active in the freshwater than the seawater fish; these cells exhibit definite functional activity 3 days after transfer from salt to fresh water, indicating an osmoregulatory role of prolactin in the freshwater environment. Plasma sodium showed a significant decline 6 h after transfer from sea water to fresh water and, even after 1 week, remained lower than in the fully acclimated freshwater fish. Corticotropic (ACTH) cells did not appear cytologically different in freshwater and seawater fish. GH cells, the most prominent cells in the proximal pars distalis, appear more numerous and more granulated in the seawater fish, suggesting an osmoregulatory involvement in young coho salmon. Putative thyrotropic (TSH) and putative gonadotropic cells (GTH) can be distinguished by differences in granulation; only one type of GTH cell is evident with ultrastructural features that differ from those of sexually mature salmon. Stellate, non-granulated cells occur in all regions of the adenohypophysis but more frequently in the prolactin follicles; they are much more prominent in the seawater than freshwater fish.

Chlorella sp. is a microalgae that potential for food supplement, pharmaceuticals, animal feed, aqua culture and cosmetics. Chlorella sp. commonly growth in sea water. Indonesia as a producer of tofu generated more liquid waste. Nutrient that contained in the tofu wastewater are very useful for the production of microalgae. Cultivation carried out for 7 days at different percent volume of tofu liquid waste showed that the more volume of tofu liquid waste make them longer process decipherment of polymer compounds in the waste, that’s make the growth rate of Chlorella sp. are slowness. Variable of10%V has the fastest growth rate. While, 90% v/v variable has the highest concentration of algae. It shows that Chlorella sp. better to grows in tofu wastewater than seawater.

Common bullies, Gobiomorphus cotidianus, are a widespread small New Zealand freshwater fish, with a life-cycle that may include an optional juvenile marine phase. We used the strontium variation in fish otoliths in an attempt to track the life history of the individual fish since the interlayer variation reflect the exposure of fish to background environmental levels of Sr at the time of deposition. One possible mechanism by which Sr can be enriched in otoliths is by seawater, which usually has a higher Sr/Ca ratio than fresh water. Locally resolved elemental measurements with a proton microprobe enable therefore the detection of variation in Sr that may reflect single or multiple migrations of freshwater fish into seawater. The most striking feature of this study is the observation of high Sr/Ca ratios in the cores of all otoliths, including those from fish caught 50 km inland. This suggests different environments in the life cycle of common bullies in the lower reaches of the Clutha river. A marine juvenile phase may be a common feature. Preliminary area scans were used to select suitable transects for detailed line scans which gave greatly improved statistics.
