Assessment is part of the teaching and learning process, aimed at improving student performance. Assessment also improves the quality of education, which enhances lifelong learning skills and performance in the educational context. Evaluation is a form of process of measuring the assessment process. It is a systematic process that involves the collection, analysis and translation of student achievement levels into the teaching objectives. Today, alternative assessments implemented in the learning system are a form of assessment that complements conventional assessment. Alternative assessments focus on student growth over time as well as the final process. And finally there are four categories of performance assessment namely response building, product evaluation, performance assessment and process focus assessment. Each category comes with examples of activities to help teachers teach and learn in the classroom

Current technological developments greatly impact the assessment verification system. To find out the student benchmarks in the results of teaching and learning activities during the learning system assessment process is very important in the scope of higher education. With the existence of blockchain technology widely applied in the world of Education, having the advantage of a decentralized system and strong cryptography can help universities in building infrastructure. Universitas Raharja is one of the educational institutions that has implemented an online assessment system (PEN +), which will use blockchain technology to verify the assessment of independent studies. which provides services to Raharja University lecturers in verifying student grades that can be accessed anywhere and at any time. However, currently the verification process for the independent study assessment that has been carried out is still done manually which results in verification not with very strong security. The existence of an independent study assessment verification uses blockchain technology to produce strong data security that did not occur before. In the PEN + lecturer assessment system for the independent study assessment verification process, it cannot yet enter the value of Independent study (IS) in real time. Therefore, there is a need for development in this blockchain technology for the verification process of independent study assessment. In this study there were 10 (ten) literary studies on verification of valuation. Thus there are several benefits that lecturers need not hesitate to verify the assessment, the process by using blockchain technology produces very strong security.

The purpose of this chapter is to investigate how flexibility impacts student performance and satisfaction in a graduate level course. This example explores how much flexibility can be incorporated without compromising instructor satisfaction. The purpose of the study was to investigate whether student satisfaction and performance increased when the instructor in a graduate level teacher education course increased flexibility in discussion grouping and format and in grading and revisions. The goals of the study were to increase student satisfaction and performance in a graduate level reading education course in a college of education. This was a pilot case study using the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) as a lens. Data collection included survey, focus groups, and interview. A small sample size was used to suit the needs of a pilot, qualitative case study. This work is important for teacher educators as they make decisions about the amount of flexibility they are comfortable incorporating into their courses as well as to model evidence based practices for teachers.

The development of learning in education has now increased. As time goes on, technology has grown rapidly. With the development of technology today can help the learning process. One example of technological advancement in education is E-Learning. E-Learning provides the convenience of lecturers and students in distance learning so that learning runs effectively and efficiently. In an effort to improve the quality of education in Indonesia, Raharja University has implemented an online learning system called iLearning. But iLearning's online learning system has not been the maximum, there are some students who have not been active in the classroom as the lecture took place and there are still students who are late working on the assignment given. To improve the performance of students while in the classroom and to perform timely assignments lecturers apply a method of gamification. Students will earn points when working on an assignment that has been given by the lecturer. The earning points are listed on the iDu Dashboard in order to provide motivation for students to do other tasks and compete with classmates. The methods used to address these problems include SWOT analysis methods, Literature Review, and Unified Modelling Language (UML) as a modeling design. This research aims to improve student performance in the process of teaching and learning activities.

The demand for changing the conceptions of teaching and learning has brought peer- and self-assessment into the classroom. This paper presents the challenges teachers have to face while preparing the assessment process for the ESP classroom, with a special emphasis on developing ESP students’ speaking skills. It is of primary importance that teachers know how to prepare the assessment criteria, how to instruct students on this topic and provide them with adequate feedback while avoiding possible barriers and misunderstandings along the process. The paper further demonstrates how students become active participants in the learning process and are asked to contribute in providing assessment criteria and feedback. While learning speaking skills, students also learn how to assess themselves and others. That enables them to raise awareness of the most common problems and mistakes they encounter when developing their communication skills and increases the overall level of their language ability and performance. As a result, teachers might dedicate more time to other useful classroom activities.

Problem solving is considered important in the learning of mathematics because it develops the logical thinking aspect of doing mathematics. Thus it allows students to reason, communicate ideas, and employ knowledge to new and different variation of problems and situations. In the most recent Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) result on problem-solving, Malaysian 15 year olds scored 422, which is significantly below the OECD average of 500. One of the causes for the unsatisfactory performance is that our students’ ability to solve problems are not nurtured at the mainstream school. This paper will touch on some implication from the PISA result, the pedagogical approach of Malaysian mathematics teachers in teaching and learning of mathematics, and suggestions on how to implement lesson study to encourage teaching of mathematics through problem solving. At the same time, effective assessment of problem solving requires more than just looking at answers, it also involves a thorough analysis of the process. Therefore, in the evaluation process of problem solving in mathematics, the role of performance assessment will be examined – for example how it can be implemented together to satisfy the School-based assessment needs. Finally, results of a few research on problem solving and lesson study approach will be presented. The author’s own research on lesson study, problem solving and performance assessment will be used as examples and discussed.
