The flexible fuel vehicles (FFV) are definitely a reality in Brazil. Most of the cars currently produced in Brazil are flexible fuel with fuel range from gasohol (E22) to hydrated ethanol (E100). All of these Brazilian applications are fuel sensor less. It means that the fuel inference is based on lambda sensor only. This fuel inference approach takes the intake air mass over the calculated mass of fuel delivered through the injectors in account to calculate the air fuel ratio (AFR) which points out the fuel blend in tank. One of the disadvantages of this inference strategy is that all the fuel considered for AFR calculation must come from injectors. Considering that the cold start and warm-up phases should operate in a richer mixture (choke operation), part of this fuel is delivered to the lubricant which is know as fuel dilution phenomenon in lubricant. According to the fuel properties and the lubricant temperature the diluted fuel evaporates and is mixed in intake air through blow-by system. This extra fuel source is considered in AFR calculation and can, in some conditions, distort the fuel blend inference. In order to prevent this blow-by vapour negative impact on flexible fuel inference logic a mathematical model was developed and calibrated for a 1.6 liter engine FFV application. Many test results with different blends and conditions are discussed. This study confirmed that this mathematical model presented positive results and some improvement opportunities were commented as well.

To investigate the accuracy of modeling DC motor, the platform for measurement and calculation dynamic parameters is built by the Hardware-In-the-Loop(HIL) method based on dSPACE system. The running state of DC motor has to be changed with adjustment of PWM duty-cycle using ControlDesk software. Having got measurement and calculation parameters value of DC motor, we compare the test results with simulation value using the model of DC motor with cascade control in Matlab/Simulink software according to the classical mathematical model. It confirms the established model of DC motor accurately and reliability using new parameters, which provides the basis of more complex control algorithms and also indicates that the feasibility and generalization application value of measurement and calculation method for DC motor.

During the last 3 years, random urine samples from 408 patients were tested for elevated homovanillic acid (HVA) and vanillylmandelic acid (VMA) levels to rule out the diagnosis of neuroblastoma. Thirty-seven of these patients had elevated HVA and/or VMA levels, and neuroblastoma was subsequently diagnosed. In three additional patients with negative test results (normal HVA and VMA levels), tumors were subsequently diagnosed (false-negative rate of 7.5%). Ten percent of the patients with neuroblastoma had normal HVA and 27.5% had normal VMA levels at the time of diagnosis. Only one patient (2.5%) with neuroblastoma had elevated VMA levels in the presence of normal HVA levels. More than 60% of the patients with neuroblastoma had urinary HVA and/or VMA levels higher than twice the upper limit of normal. No false-positive results were encountered. Age and stage distributions of the patients are shown, and the significance of the results is discussed.

Abstract OBJECTIVE To describe signalment, clinical signs, serologic test results, treatment, and outcome of dogs with Coccidioides osteomyelitis (COM) and to compare those findings with findings for dogs with osteosarcoma (OSA). ANIMALS 14 dogs with COM and 16 dogs with OSA. PROCEDURES Data were retrospectively gathered from electronic medical records. RESULTS Dogs with COM were younger and weighed less than dogs with OSA. Six dogs with COM had appendicular lesions, 5 had axial lesions, and 3 had both appendicular and axial lesions; 9 had monostotic disease, and 5 had polyostotic disease. Axial lesions and nonadjacent polyostotic disease were more common in dogs with COM than in dogs with OSA, but radiographic appearance was not different between the 2 groups. Median IgG titer at diagnosis of COM was 1:48 and was significantly decreased after 6 and 12 months of treatment. Percentage of dogs with COM that had clinical signs was significantly decreased after 1, 3, 6, and 12 months of treatment. One year after initiation of treatment, 9 of 9 dogs were still receiving fluconazole and 8 of 9 dogs had positive results for serum IgG titer testing. CLINICAL RELEVANCE Dogs with COM typically had a rapid improvement in clinical signs after initiating treatment with fluconazole but required long-term antifungal treatment. Dogs with COM differed from dogs with OSA, but radiographic features had a great degree of overlap between groups, confounding the ability to make a diagnosis on the basis of diagnostic imaging alone.

Due to the target ship in the traditional ship handling simulator have not the ability to give way to other ships automatically to avoid collision, this paper put forward a new idea that bringing the hydraulic servo platform, six degrees of freedom ship mathematical model, the actual traffic flow, researching achievement of automatic anti-collision in research of the new pattern ship handling simulator, and successfully develop the Intelligent Ship Handling Simulator(ISHS for short). The paper focuse on the research on the network communication model of ISHS. We took the entire simulator system as three relatively independent networks, proposed a framework of communication network that combined IOCP model based on TCP with blocking model based on UDP, and gave the communication process and protocols of system. Test results indicate that this is an effective way to improve the ownship capacity of ship handling simulator and meet the need of multi-ownship configuration of desktop system of ship handling simulator.

Sangkareho (Callicarpa longifolia Lam.) is used traditionally by one of Kalimantan's indigenous tribes, the Dayak Tunjung tribe as a medicine for colds and inflammation, where the plant parts used are the roots. Considering its very potential prospects, research aimed at providing a scientific basis for plant pharmacognostic data needs to be carried out with qualitative methods. The qualitative examination is done by several methods including test identification of organoleptic, macroscopic, microscopic, and chemical compounds. Organoleptic test results showed that the roots have a light brown color, bitter and slightly spicy, and a rather pungent odor. Microscopic test results showed sangkareho root has a length of � 90 cm; width of � 1 cm; and for the form of a spear with a ride root system. Microscopic observations are found in the form of epidermal cells, exodermis, cortex, endodermis, bearing files, calcium oxalate crystals, and stone cells. The identification of chemical compounds showed positive results against alkaloids, flavonoids, saponins, and triterpenoids. The thin-layer chromatography profile shows four separate stains with eluent ethyl acetate : methanol : water in a ratio of 8 : 2 : 1, respectively.

Nervous system teaching materials available in schools do not contain scientific-related content as mandated by the 2013 curriculum. In addition, teaching materials also do not contain student character reinforcement content. The purpose of this study is to develop “Nervous Problem Based Module with a  Conservation Character” as a nervous system learning supplement. This type of research is Research and Development (R&D) using ten steps, namely identification of potential and problems, data collection, product design, product design validation, product design revisions, small scale trials, product revision I, large scale trials, product revision II, and final products. The research subjects were students of class XI of SMA N 1 Bae Kudus. Nervous Problem Based Module with a  Conservation Character  tested the feasibility, readability, and effectiveness. Feasibility tests obtained very valid results. Readability test results were very valid. Test effectiveness by applying  Nervous Problem Based Module with a  Conservation Character in learning, obtained effective results and can be used in learning. The insertion of the conservation character reinforcement in the module gives positive results on the character of students. It can be concluded that “Nervous Problem Based Module with a Conservation Character” is decent and effectively applied in the nervous system learning.

Aims: This study examined the interactive effect of physical fitness and Apolipoprotein e4 on intelligence and cortical networking in adolescents. Methods: Participants were middle school students consisting of 10 and 8 high- and low-fit e4 carriers (e4+), respectively, and 14 and 10 high- and low-fit non-carriers (e4−), respectively. Inter- and intra-hemispheric coherences were calculated to examine cortico-cortical communication during intelligence test. Results: Coherence in low-fit e4+ was lower than in high-fit e4+, while coherence in low-fit e4- was similar to or higher than in high-fit e4-. Conclusion: the presence of the e4 allele can decrease neural networking 50-60 years before Alzheimer’s disease onset: however, physical fitness may compensate for the negative impact of genotype. Moreover, the beneficial effects of physical fitness may differ depending on functional states of the adolescent brain according to the presence of the e4 allele.

Background and Objective. Since 1990, the tuberculosis incidence rate in Eastern Europe and post-Soviet republics has been increasing in many countries including Kazakhstan. This problem is particularly important in Kazakhstan regions with limited financial resources, among them – in South Kazakhstan province. The aim of this study was to investigate the main clinical and antibiotic-related economic aspects of tuberculosis treatment in South Kazakhstan province. Material and Methods. In total, 502 patients participated in the study. They were hospitalized to the tuberculosis dispensary of Sayram district (South Kazakhstan province) in 2007–2013. Statistical analysis included logistic regression for better treatment outcomes and analysis of antibiotic treatment costs. Results. Two-thirds of patients had infiltrative tuberculosis (67%). Positive treatment outcomes were determined in 85% of cases. The patients were mostly treated with cycloserine, protionamide, capreomycin, and ofloxacin. The majority of antibiotic costs were related to the treatment with capreomycin. In case of the positive results of the test for Mycobacterium tuberculosis, antibiotic expenses were almost 3 times greater than in case of negative test results (P<0.001). Conclusions. The majority of patients had extensively drug-resistant tuberculosis. The negative results of the test for Mycobacterium tuberculosis at discharge were not related to pretreatment factors. Antibiotic-related costs were significantly higher in case of the positive results of the test of Mycobacterium tuberculosis, but were not associated with gender, residence place, hospitalization recurrence, or main blood test results before treatment.

This paper analyzes a new configuration of a recently proposed “springless” vibration energy harvester. In this study, the harvester is positioned so that its oscillations are aligned vertically acting against gravity. The MPG response is investigated experimentally. Test results show that the VEH behaves as a softening nonlinear oscillator even for small excitations. A mathematical model of the underlying impact oscillator is also derived and its parameters are estimated.
