Introduction. Human identification is vital not only in legal medicine but also in criminal inquiries and identification. Cheiloscopy is the study of lip prints which are unique, individual, and heritable that is used for personal identification purposes in forensic odontology. Objective. The aim of this study is to identify the possibility of the child to inherit the lip print patterns from their parents and also to describe the lip print patterns in children and their parents among the Deutero-Malay population. Method. The descriptive research used lip samples of 90 individuals including father, mother, and a child who are biologically related and their age ranges from 12 to 60 years old. The samples chosen are from the Deutero-Malay ethnic in Indonesia at least for the past two generation who obeys all the exclusion criteria of this research. Purposive nonrandom sampling method was used to collect samples by photography technique using a digital camera, and the data obtained were then analysed using Adobe Photoshop CS3 software. Grooves and wrinkles of primary quadrants one, three, six, and seven of lips were studied according to Suzuki and Tsuchihashi’s classification in 1971. Result. In the present study, it is found that Type I′ (30.28%) is the most dominant lip print pattern and Type I (1.39%) is the least dominant among the Deutero-Malay population. Besides, this study has shown that the similarity of lip print pattern between mother and the child (57.89%) is greater compared to the father and the child (42.22%). Conclusion. Based on this, we can conclude that lip print can be inherited and dissimilar for every population of race; likewise, the Deutero-Malay population has the Type I′ as the most dominant lip print pattern.

Introduction: Every individual has a different lip print pattern that facilitates personal identification. Every individual has the physical characteristics that are different from other individuals. The physical characteristics can be an identity for the individual. The purpose of this research was to investigate the lip print pattern among Deutromalayan subrace with a modification of lip print formulation technique. Methods: A descriptive research was conducted among 82 male and female students of 2008 batch students of Faculty of Dentistry Universitas Padjadjaran. The research was an observation of lip print from each subject in the digital view from the scanning of a lip seal. The observation was carried out on all parts of the fissure in the subject’s lip print. The data was then analysed to a lip print pattern formulation based on fingerprint formulation. Results: Lip print pattern of Deutromalayan subrace was different among each other and clarified in a formulation consisted of elements from the central fissure type, amount of median fissure, fissure tracing and all lip print type. Conclusion: Lip print pattern among Deutromalayan subrace was identified by modification of lip print formulation technique that was clarified on the formulation.

Abstract Context.—Clostridium septicum infections are rare but often associated with serious if not fatal outcomes. Clostridium septicum infection does not appear to be associated with a single specific defect in cellular or humoral immunity. It has been associated with multiple medical problems, including but not limited to leukemia, malignancy of the bowel, other solid tumors, cyclic neutropenia with enterocolitis, diabetes mellitus, and severe arteriosclerosis. Most cases of C septicum are associated with malignancy, and mortality approaches 100% if care is not rendered within 12 to 24 hours. Objectives.—To evaluate outcomes of patients with C septicum bacteremia, whether treated medically or surgically or both, and to note associated conditions. Design.—Retrospective evaluation of patients found to have C septicum bacteremia in the past 6 years. Setting.—Two teaching hospitals, Brooke Army Medical Center (250 beds) and Wilford Hall Medical Center (292 beds), were the source of our patients. Patients.—All patients found to have C septicum bacteremia during hospitalization or postmortem examination were included in the study. There were no exclusion criteria. Main Outcome Measure.—Mortality associated with C septicum infection. Results.—In our case series, mortality was 33%, which is slightly lower than reported in prior studies (43%–70%). Conclusion.—Presumptive identification based on Gram stain, awareness of C septicum infection as a paraneoplastic syndrome, and prompt, clear communication between laboratory personnel and clinicians are necessary for early diagnosis of C septicum infection. Early institution of antibiotic therapy improves prognosis.

A vast array of knowledge has been accumulated on the effect of service quality on customer satisfaction, particularly with a large number of studies over the past few years. However, the effect of service quality on satisfaction of service recipients in Divisional Secretariats in the Public Sector is relatively an unattended area by researchers. Hence, this study was carried out to evaluate the effect of service quality on satisfaction of service recipients of divisional secretariats. This particular organization was selected for the study as it is considered to be the most significant service provider in terms of statutory, social, economic and development in the country. A questionnaire survey and personal interviews were conducted to collect data by using the purposive sampling method. A modified questionnaire was prepared based on SERVQUAL instruments with two additional questions. A sample of 520 service recipients from 13 Divisional Secretariats in Colombo was drawn and it was represented by 40 from each division. Correlation analysis and multiple regression analysis were used to examine the relative impact of the service quality on satisfaction of service recipients. The study revealed that all the service quality attributes positively related to satisfaction of the service recipients. The findings of the study show that satisfaction of service recipients in terms of service quality has not met the expected level, which a divisional secretariat is deemed to provide for.

Objective: Over the past two decades, a number of systems have been developed for the classification of cognitive and behavioural abnormalities in older people, in order that individuals at high risk of developing neurodegenerative disease, particularly Alzheimer's disease, may be identified well before the disease manifests clinically. This article critically examines the inclusion and exclusion criteria of a number of such classification systems, to determine the effect that variations in criterion may have on clinical, behavioural and neuroimaging outcomes reported from older people with mild cognitive impairment. Method: Qualitative review of the literature describing systems of classifying mild cognitive impairment, and outcomes from clinical, behavioural, neuroimaging and genetic studies of older people with mild cognitive impairment. Results: The exclusion and inclusion criteria for these classification systems vary markedly, as do the design of studies upon which the validity of these systems has been assessed. Minor changes to individual exclusion/inclusion criterion may result in substantial changes to estimates of the prevalence and clinical outcome of mild cognitive impairment, while inadequate experimental design may act to confound the interpretation of results. Conclusions: As a result of these factors, accurate and consistent estimates of the outcome of mild cognitive impairments in otherwise healthy older people are yet to be obtained. On the basis of this analysis of the literature, optimal criteria via which accurate classifications of mild cognitive impairment can be made in future are proposed.
