An alternative approaches to the implementation of software applications in medical practice and education are shown. Examples of the EMR software application in Ternopil State Medical University by I. Ya. Horbachevsky divisionsins are presented. The disadvantages of the MIS “Medical reception” are shown. The method of the patient data migration between different MIS database types is propoused. The reverse engineering of the MIS “Medical reception” and MIS OpenEMR databases is done with investigation of the patient data storage organization principles. The complex of the SQL queries for the support of the data migration process are created. An example of the data migration between MIS “Medical reception” and MIS OpenEMR databases is given.

Cloud acts as a data storage and also used for data transfer from one cloud to other. Here data exchange takes place among cloud centers of organizations. At each cloud center huge amount of data was stored, which interns hard to store and retrieve information from it. While migrating the data there are some issues like low data transfer rate, end to end latency issues and data storage issues will occur. As data was distributed among so many cloud centers from single source, will reduces the speed of migration. In distributed cloud computing it is very difficult to transfer the data fast and securely. This paper explores MapReduce within the distributed cloud architecture where MapReduce assists at each cloud. It strengthens the data migration process with the help of HDFS. Compared to existing cloud migration approach the proposed approach gives accurate results interns of speed, time and efficiency.

Cloud computing is where software applications, data storage and processing capacity are accessed via the internet. This paper involves with analysis of the importance of cloud computing in software application developed as a service. To achieved that, a web based application OPMaSwas developed to provide service that will improvetheaudit readiness and compliance, couple with conformance to records retention policies and automated record management bundled using SaaS model. The web application is meant to manage personnel of any given organization, providing strong functionalities developed in modules such as; personnel information management module, training information management module, leave management module, resume management module, appraisal management module, document management module, reporting module and payroll management module. This applies to a lot of third world countries especially in Nigeria where interest e-commerce is fast growing. The system was evaluated using software performance methods where a reasonable performance was achieved as compared to state of the art software.

Cloud computing is a novel network-based computing model, in which the cloud infrastructure is constructed in bottom level and provided as the support environment for the applications in upper cloud level. The combination of clouding computing and GIS can improve the performance of GIS, and it can also provide a new prospect of GIS information storage, processing and utilization. By integrating cloud computing and GIS, this paper presented a cloud computing based GIS model based on two features of cloud computing: data storage and transparent custom service. The model contains two layers: service layer and application layer. With this two-layer model, GIS can provide stable and efficient services to end users by optimized network resource allocation of underlying data and services in cloud computing.

Cloud computing is a rapidly evolving information technology (IT) phenomenon. Rather than procure, deploy, and manage a physical IT infrastructure to host their software applications, organizations are increasingly deploying their infrastructure into remote, virtualized environments, often hosted and managed by third parties. This development has significant implications for digital forensic investigators, equipment vendors, law enforcement, as well as corporate compliance and audit departments, amongst other organizations. Much of digital forensic practice assumes careful control and management of IT assets (particularly data storage) during the conduct of an investigation. This paper summarises the key aspects of cloud computing and analyses how established digital forensic procedures will be invalidated in this new environment, as well as discussing and identifying several new research challenges addressing this changing context.

Affective computing is becoming more and more important as it enables to extend the possibilities of computing technologies by incorporating emotions. In fact, the detection of users’ emotions has become one of the most important aspects regarding Affective Computing. In this paper, we present an educational software application that incorporates affective computing by detecting the users’ emotional states to adapt its behaviour to the emotions sensed. This way, we aim at increasing users’ engagement to keep them motivated for longer periods of time, thus improving their learning progress. To prove this, the application has been assessed with real users. The performance of a set of users using the proposed system has been compared with a control group that used the same system without implementing emotion detection. The outcomes of this evaluation have shown that our proposed system, incorporating affective computing, produced better results than the one used by the control group.

Abstract A Patient Data Management System (PDMS) is being developed for use in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the Montreal Children’s Hospital. The PDMS acquires real-time patient data from a network of physiological bedside monitors and facilitates the review and interpretation of this data by presenting it as graphical trends, charts and plots on a color video display. Due to the large amounts of data involved, the data storage and data management processes are an important task of the PDMS. The data management structure must integrate varied data types and provide database support for different applications, while preserving the real-time acquisition of network data. This paper outlines a new data management structure which is based primarily on OS/2’s Extended Edition relational database. The relational database design is expected to solve the query shortcomings of the previous data management structure, as well as offer support for security and concurrency. The discussion will also highlight future advantages available from a network implementation.

The solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) is considered extremely suitable for electrical power plant application. Both high temperature (HT) and intermediate temperature (IT) SOFC performances are investigated using models which are built in Aspen customer modeller. Moreover, this paper introduces a new simulation software, called Al-Nour V.1.0-2012 software application. The interface of Al-Nour V.1.0-2012 software was mainly implemented based on the educational theory of User’s Split Attention, that is; the entire software works with only one screen for all operations without any scrolling (user-friendly interface). This application reflects the fact that Al-Nour software does not require the user to have any previous training. The performance of HT-SOFC and IT-SOFC models is evaluated and compared using both software applications . The simulation results show that, the cell voltage value increases by raising the operating pressure, operating temperature, and hydrogen partial pressure. The electrical power output value from the SOFC is increased simultaneously by increasing the current density . Furthermore, the IT-SOFC has a higher cell voltage than the HT-SOFC.

End User Development offers technological flexibility to encourage the appropriation of software applications within specific contexts of use. Appropriation needs to be understood as a phenomenon of many collaborative and creative activities. To support appropriation, we propose integrating communication infrastructure into software application that follows an“easy-to-collaborate”-principle. Such an appropriation infrastructure stimulates the experience sharing among a heterogeneous product community and supports the situated development of usages. Taking the case of the BSCWeasel groupware, we demonstrate how an appropriation infrastructure can be realized. Empirical results from the BSCWeasel project demonstrate the impact of such an infrastructure on the appropriation and design process. Based on these results, we argue that the social construction of IT artifacts should be tightly integrated in the material construction of IT artifacts in bridging design and use discourses.

We present a strategy for incrementally migrating legacy systems to object-oriented platforms. The migration process consists of six sequential phases and encompasses reverse engineering and reengineering activities. The aim of reverse engineering is to decompose programs into components implementing the user interface and components implementing application domain objects. The identification of objects is centred around persistent data stores and exploits object-oriented design metrics. Wrapping is the core of the reengineering activities. It makes new systems able to exploit existing resources, thus allowing an incremental and selective replacement of the identified objects. The migration strategy has been defined and experimented within the project ERCOLE (Encapsulation, Reengineering and Coexistence of Object with Legacy) on legacy systems developed in RPG for the IBM AS/400 environment.
