Orbital exenteration is a radical surgery which involves complete removal of the orbital contents along with all or parts of the eyelid. However, the eyelid complex can be totally spared in cases of necrotising disease such as mucormycosis without compromising on exposure, or fear of devascularisation of the lids. We describe a total eyelid complex preserving orbital exenteration. Preservation of the total eyelid complex has the potential to speed up the healing process and provide dynamic functional and cosmetic rehabilitation.

It’s important to be aware of healing process, associated comorbidities, and the role of nutrition in wound care management. Assessment of the amount and type of wound exudate plays an important role in deciding the type of dressing used. Infection or underlying osteomyelitis needs careful assessment, further investigation, and administration of systemic/oral anti-microbial therapy. Early use of non-surgical or surgical debridement is necessary to speed up the healing process. Diagnostic criteria of surgical site infection are increasingly used in postoperative wounds in hospitals for audit of infection control measures. No one type of dressing appears superior over other. Dressings should be cost effective, acceptable to the patients, and easy to use. In addition, in recent decades newer non-surgical debriding method, e.g. larvae therapy and negative pressure wound therapy, are increasingly being used and supported by recent NICE guidelines, especially in diabetic foot care.

One of the most popular types of skin cancer is acral lentiginous melanoma, which usually appears as an irregular, prominent growth on the palms of the hands, feet, or under the nails. In fact, the symptoms of this cancer, which is a prominent colored spot on the skin, slowly begin to appear. In the first stage, malignant cells remain inside the tissue for months or years. The lesion then acts aggressively and appears on the skin as it exits the epidermis. Experts say this type of melanoma can grow rapidly and penetrate deep into the skin. Unlike other skin cancers that occur due to overexposure to the sun, acral melanoma has nothing to do with it. In appearance, these types of cancer spots are more than 6 mm in size and can be brown, blue-gray, black or red. Early in the onset of the disease, the melanoma may have a smooth surface, but over time it becomes thicker and has a dry, uneven surface. Bleeding and sores on the cancerous spot are also possible in some cases. Now that we know that this type of cancer is not caused by the sun's rays, then what is the reason for its occurrence? Experts say our skin has natural pigments. However, melanoma linginosis develops when some malignant pigment cells begin to proliferate in the primary layers of the epidermis. Scientists do not yet know for sure why pigment cells become malignant, but it may be rooted in genetic mutations. When a doctor diagnoses skin cancer in a person, he or she removes the cancerous spots. This process can be more complicated depending on the size of the cancer cells. If the cancer has spread to the lymph nodes, the healing process will take longer. As with other cancers, early detection of skin cancer can speed up the healing process. Therefore, after seeing any spots or colored spots on the palms of your hands, feet or under your nails, see a specialist immediately. The aims of this research was to find out the healing process of second degree burn in rats (Rattus norvegicus) using ambarella leaf (Spondias dulcis F.) and vaselin on histopathologically. The research consisted of 4 treatment groups and 3 rats each, P1(double distilled water), P2 (ambarella leaf + double distilled water), P3 (vaselin), and P4 (ambarella leaf + vaselin). Treatment was done twice a day for 21 days. The research parameters are inflammatory reactions and distribution of collagen tissue. Data were analyzed descriptively. The results showed that on day 7, P1 and P3 many infiltration of inflammatory cells, hemorrhage and edema, on P2 and P4 here more infiltration of inflammatory cells, hemorrhage and edema. On the day 14th of many inflammatory cell infiltration, collagen tissue diffuse very thin on were described P1 and P3, and visible presence of new blood vessels was found on P4. On day 21th infiltration of inflammatory cells still present on (P1), there were a lot of new blood vessels on P2, there has been a process of epithelialization (P3), epidermis formed and collagen tissue spread very densely on P4. Based on the results of this study it can be concluded that administration of ambarella leaf and vaselin can speed up the healing process of burns in rats compared with other treatments.Key words: ambarella leaf, burn, vaselin

Tilapia skin is being already use in humans and wild animals present burning wounds and showed a great result. The objective is to evaluate if tilapia skin used as an occlusive curative improves equine wound healing in two horses present chronic wound. Both animals are males, adults, both of breed Mangalarga Marchador South America. Every seven days wound we measured, photographed, biopsied for histopathological analysis, cleaned and tilapia curative was changed. Image J software was used to measure wound area. Tilapia skin as an occlusive biological factor seemed to improve healing process, wounds present an area reduction and clinical improvement during 35 days treatment, even though is still waiting for complete wound healing. In equine tilapia skin curative seemed to speed up healing process and allowed reduced curative change from every two days to once a week. This implies in decrease animal´s stress, less pain and treatment cost reduction since we used less bandage amount. Beside that tilapia skin industrial waste. Furthermore, it allowed avoid using antibiotics, which reduces environment pollution and there´s no antibiotic resistance issues.

In the treatment of chronic sinusitis, the mucosa should be preserved, or, when severely damaged, only the mucosal surface removed with cutting forceps. It is especially important not to expose the surface of the bone by complete removal of the mucosa. When the mucosa is conserved, or excision is limited to only the mucosal surface, ciliated cells regenerate within 6 months. However, where the mucosa was completely removed during surgery and the bone was exposed, the area was covered with nonciliated cells, and only scattered cilia were present.

BackgroundOrbital exenteration is a disfiguring procedure reserved for life-threatening malignancies. This study examines the clinical course and outcomes of a large series of patients who underwent orbital exenteration for malignant periocular neoplasms.MethodsThis is a retrospective review of patients who underwent orbital exenteration from 1 July 2005 to 30 June 2015 at four tertiary referral centres in the USA, Australia and Canada. Demographics, indication for surgery, pathology, surgical technique, reconstruction type and outcomes were reviewed.ResultsOrbital exenteration was performed on 102 patients. The mean age at surgery was 67.5 years. The most common malignant tumours encountered were squamous cell carcinoma, melanoma and basal cell carcinoma. Seventy-six patients (75%) underwent reconstruction with a local myocutaneous flap, twelve with partial-thickness skin grafts (PTSG), or split skin graft, two had a free flap, and one had a dermis fat graft. Sixteen patients had combined procedures of two of the above. Complete removal of the tumour was achieved with clear margins in 81 cases. Of all patients, 72% were alive at 48 months or more.ConclusionThe majority of orbital exenterations performed in this series were secondary to periocular malignancies with unsuccessful/insufficient previous treatments. Regional myocutaneous flaps, PTSG, full-thickness skin grafts and dermis fat grafts were all highly effective and durable reconstructive options, and were able to withstand radiation therapy without complications.

Abstract Background Musculoskeletal disorders include a wide range of degenerative and inflammatory problems, which can affect any part of the muscular and skeletal system. Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) has been a breakthrough in musculoskeletal medicine, especially with its effects to speed up soft tissue, cartilage, and bone healing. It is now thought that stem cells are able to reverse the degenerative process and promote rapid healing. Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) has received special attention in treating tendinopathy and osteoarthritis. This review aims to do a comprehensive review of the scientific evidence for the efficiency of PRP application in tendinopathy and osteoarthritis. Main body of the abstract In osteoarthritis treatment, platelet-rich plasma is thought to influence the whole joint environment by increasing chondrocyte proliferation. The injection of autologous PRP into the joint space and surrounding soft tissues delivers a concentrated dose of these growth factors, which accelerate the healing process and reduce pain. Short conclusion Many studies report some benefits in regard to pain and functionality, especially in tendinopathy, but further investigations are needed to incorporate PRP into clinical practice and be a common form of therapy for tendinopathy and osteoarthritis. Caution should be applied with any treatment we use in clinical practice, especially with PRP and other forms of injections.

Pregnancy complicated by cancer is in itself a phenomenon generally far from frequent, the cases in which radical surgery was used - complete removal of the pregnant uterus - is now considered even more rare, since in the literature there are, perhaps, only a few such observations. Therefore, I have the right to hope that the following case, which I observed last year in the Yekaterinburg obstetric hospital, should be of certain interest.
