Whilst the Neoliberal alludes to an array of very real material practices and axioms of contemporary capitalism, the concept of Neoliberalism itself has arguably become moribund. Worse, perhaps it has become an asphyxiating and enervating monolith, a ‘ptolemization’ from which our critical thinking cannot escape. The key strategy of the article is to explore the Neoliberalism concept as a ‘mode of telling’, and how the constitutive moments of that concept have been discursively constructed into a hegemonic discursive formation. Whilst the resultant paradigm of Neoliberalism has ironically been constituted out of the identity-thinking and the synthetic historicizing of its very critics, the article searches for alternative avenues of reconstitutive deconstruction, so as to offer both critical optimism and a more effective means of struggle against the material practices of contemporary capitalism. To this end, I shall indicate how overdetermination in conceptualization provides the opportunity to break down identity-thinking and how articulation can translate the material elements of contemporary capitalism into fresh moments of a counter-hegemonic discourse.

Lectures are a major part of a university student’s learning experience and are an effective means of transferring knowledge and concepts to large groups in less time and with minimal resources. Objectives: To find the effects of lectures alone and when lectures are combined with strategy of think-pair-share, on the 1st and 2nd year medical student’s participation, confidence, critical thinking and involvement in learning activities during the Anatomy class. Study Design: Descriptive Cross sectional study. Methodology: Present study enrolled 200 participants involving both genders. Online feedback Performa based on 5 questions was developed and collected data from students before and after the 10-week treatment program. Statistical analysis: Data was analyzed by SPSS software, version 19 as qualitative variables were expressed as percentages. Results: There was a significant benefit to majority of students by applying think-pair-share technique during their Anatomy lectures. Conclusion: We concluded that think pair share strategy in lectures kept the students more actively involved in the class discussion and they felt more confident in sharing their ideas with the peers. It also promoted critical thinking among the students and they received feedback more frequently from the teacher. Keywords: Lectures, Think Pair Share Strategy, Critical Thinking and Anatomy Class.

The article analyzes and defines the essence of the concept of «critical thinking», presents the structure of critical thinking. The purpose of the article is to reveal the essence of the concept of «critical thinking», to determine its structure and to characterize the conditions of its effective development on the basis of the conducted analysis of the scientific literature. The following methods were used in the study: analysis and interpretation of domestic and foreign philosophical, normative, psychological, pedagogical and methodological literature; analysis and generalization of advanced domestic, foreign and personal pedagogical experience on the research problem. The results. On the basis of the considered position of the theory of critical thinking development according to S. Terno and regularities on which this technique is based, the procedures which belong to the operating block of critical thinking are defined. The essence of the concept of «students’ critical thinking» is interpreted as a system of judgments that is used to analyze things and events with the formulation of sound conclusions and allows students to make sound judgments and interpretations, as well as correctly apply conclusions to situations and problems. The peculiarities of the development of students’ critical thinking include the following: the consistent pattern of dynamics, according to which the number of all subsequent changes depends on the number of changes at the previous stage; the regularity of personality development in the educational process; the regularity of educational process management; the stimulation regularity; the regularity of unity of sensory, logical and practice in the educational process; the regularity of unity of external (pedagogical) and internal (cognitive) activities; the regularity of the educational process conditionality. It is proved that the structure of students' critical thinking consists of three components: motivational, activity, reflexive-evaluative. The author developed a model for the development of students’ critical thinking, the tasks of which are: mastering by students the knowledge of logical, problem, creative thinking; teaching students the basic logical concepts (reflection – denial – criticism – criticism – self-criticism – argumentation – proof – refutation – evaluation – self-evaluation – evaluative judgment); forming the students’ ability to build critical reasoning; teaching students to identify logical errors of critical assessment of the phenomenon, behavior. Conclusions. The results of the study showed that an effective means of managing the process of forming students' critical thinking is the use of techniques and methods for solving problems, and that different forms and methods of teaching are used depending on the content of teaching, teaching aids, the students’ individual characteristics of the study level, and the level of teachers’ readiness to the development of critical thinking of students.

The article substantiates the possibilities of developing promising skills of the XXI century, in particular soft skills, as a set of non-specialized, super-professional skills, which, unlike specialized, are not related to a specific field of professional activity. The leading means of developing such skills are STEM-projects, which combine the basic elements of research, project activities and take into account the external requirements of a particular activity. The analysis detected that common skills that were relevant 5 years ago and were envisaged for today, were such as interaction with people, integrated problem solving, creativity, critical thinking, the ability to form own opinions and make decisions, the ability to listen and ask, flexibility of mind (the ability to quickly switch from one thought to another) and emotional intelligence. In most scientific papers, the key soft skills include creative thinking, information management, emotional intelligence, the ability to form own opinions and make decisions, presentation skills. Based on this, the emphasis is on changes in the formation of soft skills and their development. At the theoretical level, methods of developing key skills include trainings, seminars, mastering models of successful behavior, finding feedback, learning from the experience of others, identifying models of successful behavior of people with a high degree of development of certain competencies. The development of soft skills requires special methods that focus on critical thinking; creativity; organizational skills; team working; emotional intelligence; problem assessment and decision making; ability to interact effectively; cognitive flexibility; versatile development of individuality; formation of a holistic scientific worldview of students; formation of a holistic scientific worldview of students; formation of a personality capable of independently choosing and making responsible decisions; education of students' respect for work, providing conditions for life and professional self-realization, formation of readiness of a conscious choice and mastering of the future profession. It is proved that the driver of the development of key competencies and skills of the future in students is STEM education in general and STEM projects in particular. The scheme proposed to the participants of the All-Ukrainian online-contest “Teacher of the Year” on the version of science journal “Kolosok”, who competed in the category “STEM teacher”, is highlighted.

Chronic pyelonephritis is one of the most common diseases of the kidney and accounts for a sizeable number of cases of renal insufficiency in man, however its pathogenesis requires further elucidation. Transmission electron microscopy may serve as a uniquely effective means of observing details of the nature of this disease. The present paper describes preliminary results of an ultrastructural study of chronic pyelonephritis in Macaca arctoides (stumptail monkey). The infection was induced in these experiments in a retrograde fashion by means of a unilateral catheterization of the left ureter whereby an innoculum of 10 cc of broth containing approximately 2 billion E. coli per cc and radio-opaque dye were injected under pressure (mimicing vesico-ureteric reflux).

Abstract Mentoring has long been believed to be an effective means of developing students' clinical, research, and teaching skills to become competent professionals. The American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) has developed two online mentoring programs, Student to Empowered Professional (S.T.E.P. 1:1) and Mentoring Academic Research Careers (MARC), to aid in the development of students. This paper provides a review of the literature on mentoring and compares and contrasts mentoring/mentors with clinical supervision/preceptors. Characteristics of effective mentors and mentees are offered. Additionally, the benefits of clinical mentoring such as, teambuilding in the workplace, retention of new staff, leadership development, and improved job satisfaction are discussed.
