With the ubiquitousness of personal computers (PCs), it is only natural that they should be utilized in human factors laboratories not only for research data collection but also as an educational tool. With large engineering classes, most labs cannot afford to have multiple meters and instruments to service several identical laboratory stations simultaneously. Instead, it is extremely helpful to have several PCs with programs depicting basic human factors principles running simultaneously with the other stations. Thus, the PC programs are not intended to eliminate hands-on experimentation, but to help alleviate loading problems and provide useful educational principles.

The image of women that is actualized through the construction of gender roles, positions, and adaptation processes in artistic expression through Sintren and Kuda Kepang performances is very different. In this regard, the research aims to: (1) explain the forms of art performances of Sintren and Kuda Kepang; and (2) explain the image of women in the art performances of Sintren and Kuda Kepang in the context of gender reality and aesthetic exploration. The research was conducted on the art of Sintren Ujung Gede in Pemalang Regency and Kuda Kepang Turonggoseto in Semarang Regency. The research data were collected using the techniques of (1) observation, (2) interviews, and (3) document studies. The validity of the research data was carried out using the confirmability technique. The study used an interactive model analysis procedure, which was carried out with the stages of data collection, data reduction, data classification, and drawing conclusions. The results show that: (1) Sintren and Kuda Kepang arts are forms of traditional folk-art performances in which there is a scene of trance. This art is usually performed on stage or open arena by involving women as players; (2) The presence of women in the Sintren performances is a requirement that traditionally must be fulfilled until now. On the other hand, in the Kuda Kepang performances, the presence of women is a new phenomenon that provides opportunities and freedom for women to express themselves through dance. In the Sintren performance, the position of women becomes the center, subject, and object during the performance process. As a result, changes in the function of arts often result in the exploitation of Sintren dancers. On the other hand, in the Kuda Kepang art, the involvement of women with all their adaptations provides a new space for resistance to the existing gender stereotypes.

Sign language is the basic way to communicate and understand ideas among people with disabilities, deaf and dumb, and to recognize and understand the meanings of the motions and the gestures used by them that requires knowledge of certain features such as hand position, form, motion, directions and facial expressions. Moreover, the extraction of image features is important and it plays a vital role in further analysis of image processing. Extracting the special features of the isolated Arabic sign language (ArSL) words based on Discrete Cosine Transform (DCT) was proposed in current paper. By monitoring and tracking the trajectory of the hands when single hand movement or double hands extract the required features. That is the independent sign language word features vector is incorporated as an input into the classification stage to derive the meaning of the word as voice or text. The research data were collected in cooperation with the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs of Iraq with the assistance of the Special Needs Department and up to 40 words of isolated sign language collected. Two signs were taken as examples of feature extraction (Happy and water). Since the word happy gives an example of a sign word performed by two hands, on the other hand, the word water is performed with one hand, the Arabic sign language contains different words, part of them are performed with one hand and the other part with both hands.

Writing can mean lowering or describing graphic symbols that describe a languageunderstood by someone. For a researcher, management of research preparation is a veryimportant step because this step greatly determines the success or failure of all researchactivities. Before a person starts with research activities, he must make a written plan commonlyreferred to as the management of research data collection. In the process of collecting researchdata, of course we can do the management of questionnaires as well as the preparation ofinterview guidelines to disseminate and obtain accurate information. With the arrangement ofplanning and conducting interviews: the ethics of conducting interviews, the advantages anddisadvantages of interviews, the formulation of interview questions, the schedule of interviews, group and focus group interviews, interviews using recording devices, and interview bias.making a questionnaire must be designed with very good management by giving to theinformation needed, in accordance with the problem and all that does not cause problems at thestage of analysis and interpretation.

Kata kunci: kitab, jenis karya, pencetakan tradisional, Sunda, Pegon, Jawa Barat This paper discusses the phenomenon of the spreading of religious printed books (kitabs) in West Java, especially in Sukabumi and Cianjur, which are characterized by the use of Arabic writing in Sundanese (or known as Pegon script). The printed books (Kitabs) of those types are produced and reproduced, and are still used to this day. Therefore, this phenomenon can be called as a “living tradition”. Data collection was conducted by tracing and recording religious books (kitabs) that are pro-duced (rewritten or compossed) and reproduced (printed or duplicated) with a simple method, known as photocopying and traditional printing such as stencils, screen printing, and “shop printing”. This paper aims to map and revise the categorization of these Kitabs from previous studies based on the types of works including original essays, tuqilan (quotations), translation, sharh (explanation), khulaṣah (summary), or the other, and also based on the language and the script used. In addition, this paper also observes the institutions or individuals that are still reproducing these printed religious books such as the printing company or pesantren that publish such kitabs. At the end of this article, there are some suggestions in attempts to preserve those printed kitabs and the works. Keywords: Kitabs, type of work, traditional printing, Sunda, Pegon, West Java
