In this paper we reported gel formulation that containing Jamblang Leaf extract (Syzygium cumini L) and activity test as antioxidant. The Jamblang Leaf plant contained polyphenols compound which function as antioxidants. The purpose of this study was to determine the antioxidant activity of gel formulation that containing jamblang leaf extract. Extraction of Jamblang Leaf were formulated with three varation of concentration and gel basis as negative controls. The gel formulation were evaluated for organoleptic observations, homogeneity, pH, viscosity, dispersion test, adhesion test, accelerated stability test for 4 weeks storage, and measurement of antioxidant activity was carried out using the DPPH method with wavelength of 519 nm. The results of gel formulation IC50 value shows the ability of a substance to inhibit 50% DPPH radical of 47.735 ppm. The gel extract of Jamblang Leaf has a very strong antioxidant activity.

Free radicals are one of the cause of various diseases. The use of synthetic antioxidant compounds could prevent the effect of the free radicals, however may cause adverse effects on the human body such as impaired liver, lung, intestinal and poisoning. Therefore antioxidant from natural resources needs to be developed. The purpose of this research was to determine the antioxidant activity and IC50 value of the ethanol extract of ganitri (Elaeocarpus ganitrus Roxbs.) leaves. Ganitri leaf ethanol extract activity test was carried out using DPPH method with vitamin C as a standard. Antioxidant activity was determined as a decreas in the absorbance of DPPH at 517 nm wavelength after an addition of the extract with the concentrations of 20, 40, 80, and 100 ppm. The antioxidant acitivity measurement of the ganitri leaf extract showed that the linier regression equation obtained was y = 0.3669x + 29.546, r = 0.4573 while the IC50 value was 54,12 ppm. Based on the result, it is concluded that the ethanol extract of ganitri (Elaeocarpus ganitrus Roxb.) leaf showed was categorized as strong antioxidant.

 Indonesia has millions island and big part of Indonesia is sea that is rich in marine biological resources and has the potential to be developed and optimized. One of the abundant marine resources in Indonesia is algae. Algae are plant-like protists. Algae have several important compounds, including protein, carbohydrates, fats, minerals and other useful elements. Proteins contained in algae have the potential to be used as antioxidants. In this study, the levels of protein in red and green algae were tested by using the lowry method and testing the antioxidant activity of red and green algae extracts using the Diphenylpicrylhydrazyl (DPPH) method. Algae extraction was done by maceration, which is soaking the sample in low temperature with phosphate buffer saline (PBS) pH 7. From the extraction results it can be concluded that the red algae (Rhodophyta) has the highest protein content of 5.115 ± 0.126% and the lowest protein content in green algae (Chloropytha) as big as 1.686 ± 0.430%. And from the results of the antioxidant activity test showed that all positive algae showed antioxidant activity but the green algae (Chlorophyta) had the highest antioxidant activity of 71.5946 ± 0.01612% with IC50 value 1.6114.

Wualae (Etlingera elatior (Jack) R.M Smith) is one of the plants in the Zingiberaceae family, widely used in medicine ranging from rhizomes, fruits, and flowers. Empirically Wualae are usually used by people for treating skin diseases, flavoring food, a natural soap, and in Southeast Sulawesi, it is used to treat typhoid fever. This study aims to examine the antioxidant activity of Wualae (Etlingera elatior) plant. The plant extracts were extracted by maceration method, antioxidant activity test was performed by 2,2-Diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) method. The results showed that ethanol extracts of fruits, leaves, stems and rhizomes of Wualae (Etlingera elatior) has the potential antioxidant activity with the IC50 values of 72.518 mg/L, 99.890 mg/L, 52.345 mg/L and 58.638 mg/L, respectively. and Vitamin C has IC50 value of 3,787 mg/L.

ABSTRACTNanamuha (Bridelia monoica Merr.) is a plant that was used as a cancer and tumor drug by the Sangihe Islands community. This plant contains phenol compounds, flavonoids, alkaloids and tannins. The purpose of this study was to determine the potential of nanamuha leaves that grow in the Sangihe Island to have antioxidant activity and determine the total phenolic ethanol extracts of nanamuha leaf. The extraction method used is maceration with ethanol solvent p.a. The extracts obtained was determined total phenolic and antioxidant activity test using DPPH method. Based on the results obtained, the ethanol extracts of nanamuha leaves has antioxidant activity with an IC50 value of 75,03 µg / mL and the result showed that the total phenol content the ethanol extracts of nanamuha leaves of  53,34 mg / L.  Keywords : Nanamuha leaf, total phenol, antioxidant activity, DPPH  ABSTRAKNanamuha (Bridelia monoica Merr.) merupakan tanaman yang dimanfaatkan sebagai obat kanker dan tumor oleh masyarakat Kepulauan Sangihe. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah unutuk mengetahui potensi dari daun nanamuha yang tumbuh di Kepulaun Sangihe ini memiliki aktivitas antioksidan dan menentukan total fenolik dari ekstrak etanol daun nanamuha. Metode ekstraksi yang digunakan adalah maserasi dengan pelarut etanol p.a. Ekstrak yang diperoleh ditentukan total fenolik dan uji aktivitas antioksidan dengan metode DPPH. Berdasarkan hasil yang didapatkan ekstrak etanol daun nanamuha memiliki aktivitas antioksidan dengan nilai IC50 75,03 µg/mL dan hasil penelitian menunjukan total kandungan fenolik ekstrak etanol daun nanamuha sebesar 53,34 mg/L. Kata kunci : Daun Nanamuha, Total fenol, Aktivitas antioksidan, DPPH

Pyrazoline compounds are reported to have many useful biological activities such as antimicrobials, antihyperglycemia, antioxidants, anti-inflammatory, anticancer and anticonvulsants. The pyrazoline analogues of 3- (2-methoxy-phenyl) -5-naphthalene-1-yl-4,5-dihydro-1H-pyrazol were synthesized usingglacial acetic acid as catalyst and assisted by microwave irradiation. The structures of the compounds were obtainedby UV, IR and HRMS spectroscopy data. Antioxidant activity test using DPPH method showed that pyrazoline compound had IC50 value of 27.41 μg/mL.

This study aims to determine antioxidant activity and total phenolic content of mangosteen leaves in several different solvents. The antioxidant activity test of the extract was determined by the DPPH method and the total phenolic content was determined by the Folin-Ciocalteu method. The phytochemical test of mangosteen leaves showed the presence of phenolic compounds, saponins, triterpenoids and alkaloids. The extraction results increase with increasing water content in methanol, ethanol and acetone. The highest amount of extract was obtained using 50% acetone solvent (34.98 ± 0.17%). Extraction using 100% ethanol showed the highest total phenolic content (614.25 ± 5.58 mg GAE / g extract) and the lowest IC50 value (5.81 mg / L). The results of this study indicate that the use of 50% acetone solvent can optimize the amount of extract and 100% ethanol can optimize the content of total phenolic compounds and antioxidant activity of mangosteen leaves.

In this research the potential of Pakoba leaf extract to be used as antioxidant and skin whitening (anti-melanogenic agent) is investigated. The antioxidant activity of Pakoba leaves were studied using DPPH method and the result showed that the 80 percent methanol crude extract has strong antioxidant activity with an IC50 value of 22.66 ± 1.02 μg/ml. The aqueous fraction of the sample has an IC50 value of 53.30 ± 1.42 μg/ml, followed by n-butanol fraction (53.63 ± 1.45 μg/ml) and chloroform fraction (511.54 ± 1.59 μg/ml). The anti-melanogenic activity of the crude methanol extract showed IC50 value of 316.56 ± 11.04 μg/ml. Thus, it isconcluded that crude extract of Pakoba leaves shows good potential as the antioxidant source although it does not show good anti- melanogenic activity.

Abstrak- Tanaman kelor (Moringa oleifera) adalah salah satu tanaman yang memiliki banyak fungsi dan khasiat bagi kehidupan manusia. Salah satu yang paling menonjol dari kandungan tanaman kelor adalah kandungan antioksidan, terutama pada bagian daun. Daun kelor (Moringa oleifera) memiliki kandungan bahan aktif seperti flavonoid, saponin, tanin, dan polifenol. Senyawa tersebut mampu menangkal radikal bebas yang dapat menyebabkan penuaan dini dan kerusakan kulit. Tujuan dilaksanakannya penelitian ini adalah untuk memformulasikan daun kelor (Moringa oleifera) menjadi sediaan krim antioksidan dengan menggunakan variasi bahan aktif yaitu krim basis (F1), krim serbuk daun kelor (F2), dan krim vitamin E (F3). Evaluasi dilakukan untuk melihat stabilitas fisika dan kimia. Parameter uji stabilitas fisika meliputi uji organoleptis, uji daya sebar, uji tipe emulsi, uji bobot jenis, uji viskositas, uji sifat alir, dan uji distribusi ukuran partikel dan droplet. Parameter uji stabilitas kimia meliputi uji pH dan uji aktivitas antioksidan. Pengamatan pada sediaan krim dilakukan selama 28 hari. Penentuan aktivitas antioksidan dilakukan dengan menggunakan metode DPPH yang kemudian serapannya diukur dengan spektrofotometer UV-Vis. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat perbedaan yang bermakna baik pada krim basis, krim serbuk daun kelor, maupun krim vitamin E hal ini ditunjukkan dengan hasil uji statistik ANOVA satu arah yaitu nilai P<0,01. Hasil uji aktivitas antioksidan menunjukkan bahwa krim F2 memilik % peredaman radikal bebas yang lebih tinggi dibandingkan dengan krim F1 dan F3. One of the most prominent of the Moringa compounds is the antioxidants from the leaves. Moringa oleifera leaves contain active compounds such as flavonoids, saponins, tannins, and polyphenols. These compounds inhibit free radicals that can cause premature aging and skin damage. The purpose of this study was to formulate Moringa oleifera leaves into an antioxidant cream dosage form using a variety of active ingredients which are cream base (F1), cream of Moringa leaf powder (F2), and cream of vitamin E (F3). The evaluation test was done to determine the physical and chemical stability. The parameters of physical stability test include organoleptic test, dispersion test, emulsion type test, density test, viscosity test, flow properties test, and test of particle size distribution and droplet. Chemical stability test parameters include pH test and antioxidant activity test. The observations of the cream dosage forms were followed for 28 days. The determination of antioxidant activity was conducted using the DPPH method which was then measured by a UV-Vis spectrophotometer. The results showed that there were significant differences in the base cream, Moringa oleifera cream, and vitamin E cream as indicated by the results of the one-way ANOVA statistical test, the P value <0.01. The results of the antioxidant activity test showed that F2 cream had a higher % of free radical reduction compared to F1 and F3 creams. Antioxidants are substances that can provide endogenous protection and exogenous oxidative stress by capturing free radicals. Many plants are efficacious as antioxidants, namely plants that contain polyphenols, especially flavonoids, so many are formulated as natural antioxidants. Plants such as Muntingia calabura, Syzygium cumini, Ocimum basilicum, and Eleutherine bulbosa contain polyphenol compounds, especially flavonoids which are efficacious as natural antioxidants. This research aimed to study antioxidant activity derived from some potential plants using the DPPH method by calculating the IC50 value of each plant extract. This research method starts from the determination process to prove the validity of the plants used, the extraction process using the maceration method with 70% ethanol solvent, then the antioxidant activity of extracts from each plant was carried out using the DPPH method. This research starts from the determination process to ensure the correctness of the plants used, then the extraction process is carried out using the maceration method with 70% ethanol solvent. After that the antioxidant activity was determined from the four plants using the DPPH method to see the strongest IC50 value among the four plants. IC50 is the concentration of the sample to inhibit 50% of free radicals. The results of IC50 values from ethanol extract of M. calabura leaves, Syzygium cumini leaves, Ocimum basilicum leaves and Eleutherine bulbosa bulbs, were 18.72; 63,84; 141.59 and 173.15 ppm. Ethanol extract of M. Calabura has a smaller IC50 value of 18.72 ppm which has a very strong and most powerful antioxidant from the ethanol extract of Syzygium cumini, Ocimum basilicum and Eleutherine bulbosa. Keywords : Antioxidant, Muntingia calabura, Syzygium cumini, Ocimum basilicum, Eleutherine bulbosa, DPPH Method

This study was conducted to determine the activity of Jatropha gossypifolia L (jarak merah’s) leaf extract as an antioxidant and antibactery against acne causing bacteria (Propionibacterium acnes). To obtain an J. gossypifolia L jarak merah’s leaf extract by maceration using 96% ethanol, and then fractionated with n-hexane and ethyl acetate. Testing of antioxidant activity by DPPH method and antibactery activity test by the paper disc method. Antioxidant activity test has done for ethanol fraction, ethyl acetate fraction and n-hexane fraction, while testing for antibacterial activity performed on fractions active as antioxidant. The test results demonstrate the antioxidant activity of ethyl acetate fraction and the ethanol fraction as a fraction very strong with IC50 value of 22.33 ppm for ethyl acetate fraction and 41.04 ppm for ethanol fraction. Then the fraction of ethyl acetate and ethanol fraction antibactery activity test, the result is known that both factions have the ability to inhibit the growth of bacteria Propionibacterium acnes demonstrated by the inhibition zone is formed. In 1000 ppm is formed diameter of the greatest inhibition zone that is equal to 6 mm for ethyl acetate fraction and 5 mm for ethanol fraction.
