The article presents the results of the study of the University professor’s readiness to work with students with disabilities. The readiness of the University professors to work in the system of inclusive education considered by the authors as a complex integrative professional and personal formation. It consists of three interrelated components: cognitive, affective and behavioral. Behavioral is one of the conditions for the success of teaching students with disabilities in high school. In other words, the effective professional activity of a University professor is facilitated by the knowledge of the students’ personality and their health features, positive attitude, acceptance and experience of interaction with them. In the framework of the study, 119 university professors of Russia, Belarus and Poland surveyed. The results allowed to determine the degree of readiness of University professors to work with students with disabilities and, as a result, demonstrated the need for developmental correction of each of the three components of this readiness.

The paper offers an overview of the achievements of S. Smal-Stotskyi’s students in Shevchenko studies, which continued, to a greater or lesser extent, to explore and popularize the works of T. Shevchenko in the cultural space of Bukovyna and Pokuttia. The main accent is made on the Kitsman-Kolomyia center, where the early 20th century graduates of the Chernivtsi University lived and worked, O. Tsisyk, D. Nykolyshyn, M. Ravliuk, M. Kharzhevskyi, O. Kovbuz, B. Levytskyi being among them. They continued to develop the traditions originating from the seminar on Shevchenko studies conducted by S. Smal-Stotskyi. Modern scholars recognize that in the second half of the 19th and early 20th centuries the Chernivtsi University was the leading educational institution in terms of contribution to Shevchenko studies. Students picked up the instructions of the professor S. Smal-Stotskyi and not only showed interest in the works by T. Shevchenko but also expressed their views in public, actively engaging in activities of the national movement that took place outside the university. The work within the circles continued profound reading of the Kobzar’s works, initiated at the university. The Circle of Kobzar Studies was one of them; it united university graduates who became teachers of Kitsman high school – Mykola Ravliuk, Omelian Tsisyk, Pavlo Diakiv, Oleksa Kovbuz, etc. The members of the circle continued collecting and analyzing the scholarly and critical material that might help in making comprehensive analysis of Shevchenko’s works. Such activity formed a good basis for teaching and inspiring students to explore Shevchenko’s legacy that was fundamental for shaping the national outlook and national consciousness of contemporary Ukrainians. However, the regular research of the works by T. Shevchenko also played an important role in the Kitsman-Kolomyia center. This direction was represented mainly by the works of D. Nykolyshyn and O. Tsisyk.

In level tests carried out in recent years to evaluate the competence acquired by calculus students enrolled in the Computer Software Engineering degree at the University of Oviedo, it has been observed that a significant percentage of students make very similar conceptual errors. This article describes the research undertaken by a working group of teachers called BACUNIMAT, currently made up of two university professors and five high school professors. The name BACUNIMAT is the acronym in Spanish for the High School and University Teachers Working Group. The aim of this research group was to analyze the main deficiencies in mathematical knowledge that students possess upon arrival at university. The analysis was performed in order to propose solutions to alleviate these deficiencies. The research proposes how to focus mathematical teaching in secondary schools in order to better prepare students for university.

The article is devoted to the history of revolutionary unrest among students at the turn of the 20th century. Activities of informal student associations that conducted a broad agitation campaign within the walls of the A. L. Shanyavskii University in the early 20th century serve as an example. Unlike many other higher educational institutions, the Moscow City People's University became a hotbed of revolutionary outbreaks, fueled both by teachers and students of the university. University professors N. N. Polyansky, M. D. Zagryatskov, V. V. Krasnokutsky, A. V. Gorbunov, P. P. Gensen, P. N. Sakulin, A. A. Kizevetter called for democratic reforms in their lectures and criticized the foundations of the monarchy. Among other politicized communities of the University, the Latvian Social-Democratic group, which included M. I. Latsis and I. V. Tsivtsivadze, was especially prominent. Many students united around Social Democrat Ts. Zelikson-Bobrovskaya and Bolshevik A. A. Znamensky. The students of Shanyavskii University equipped a printing house and printed leaflets of revolutionary content. On the account of frequent cases of political agitation in the student environment, university lectures were attended by the police. Nevertheless, despite the police surveillance, the atmosphere at the university was quite liberal, and the revolutionary-minded associations continued to thrive there. The revolutionary events that were prepared with such energy (among others) by students of the A. L. Shanyavskii University and liberal-minded part of their professors, eventually led to greater collapse of the ideals of accessible higher education that A.L. Shanyavskii preached. The Bolsheviks, having received the reins of government in 1917, could not establish a working system of administration or even approximate the however well established pre-revolutionary order, and thereupon in 1920 the University of A.L. Shanyavskii ceased to exist. Several documents found in the State Archive of the Russian Federation allow to recreate the historical picture of the revolutionary movement within the walls of the Moscow City People's University.

"A Short Modern History of Studying Sacrobosco’s De sphaera. The treatise generally known as De sphaera offered at the beginning of the 13th century a general image of the structure of the cosmos. In this paper I’m first trying to present a triple stake with which this treaty of Johannes de Sacrobosco (c. 1195 - c. 1256). This effort is intended to draw a context upon the treaty on which I will present in the second part of this paper namely, a short modern history of studying this treaty starting from the beginning of the 20th century up to this day. The first stake consists in the well-known episode of translation of the XI-XII centuries in the Latin milieu of the Greek and Arabic treaties. The treatise De sphaera taking over, assimilating and comparing some of the new translations of the texts dedicated to astronomy. The second Consists in the fact that Sacrobosco`s work can be considered a response to a need of renewal of the curriculum dedicated to astronomy at the University of Paris. And the third consists in the novelty and the need to use the De sphaera treatise in the Parisian University’s curriculum of the 13th century. Keywords: astronomy, translation, university, 13th Century, Sacrobosco, Paris, curriculum"

This is a review of how various experiences in my career have contributed to my understanding of accounting. I recall the circumstances surrounding several of my efforts towards the development of accounting theories, viz. (1) decision-usefulness theory, (2) activity costing, and (3) market simulation accounting, as well as my excursion into (4) market association research in seeking to validate decision-usefulness theory and (5) a search for the effects of firms' economic environments on the development of enterprise accounting in the 2nd millennium, C.E. I give my impressions of several of the important players in the evolution of accounting thought in the 20th century with whom I was closely associated, such as Vatter, Moonitz, Chambers, and Sterling, as well as other prominent figures in the broad field of accounting. Some of my gains from associations with three institutions—the American Accounting Association, The University of Chicago, and the Financial Accounting Standards Board—are identified. I conclude with a few summary thoughts on what I have learned.

When adolescents go overseas to study, they have to face the challenge of adapting to local cultures, homesickness, and dealing with the stress. This study aimed to investigate the socio-cultural adaptation, homesickness, and perceived stress among international students in relation to social sustainability in a public university in Sabah, Malaysia. This research also related how international students manage both positive and negative impacts on their social life in university. The study included all international students in that university except Bruneian and Indonesian students. The sample group comprised 100 male and 100 female students. This study used four questionnaires: (i) Perceived Stress Scale, (ii) Homesickness Scale, (iii) Socio-cultural Adaptation Scale, and (iv) Revised Sociocultural Adaptation Scale. The results indicated that the socio-cultural adaptation and perceived stress levels were significantly correlated, r (198) = 0.354, p < 0.05. The level of homesickness and perceived stress were also significantly correlated, r (198) = 0.314, p < 0.05. The outcome of this study can help overseas students lead better lives abroad, while the university can arrange relevant activities to help them better adapt to local cultures and perceive less stress. The present study underlined the importance of increasing socio-cultural adaptation and social sustainability and decreasing homesickness among international students studying at the public university in Sabah.
